  1. Iv looked into the citronella collars and lots of people say their dogs learnt to look away so the spray dosnt get them in the face ?

And I left the TV on for her yesterday she was in her crate with a new bone and she was quiet all day barked for few seconds when I first left and that was it. But today same again and she barked for about half time I was out. I do walk her in morning like you said to try and relax her a bit but dosnt seem to do anything. It's a flat not a house sorry my mistake. I understand it's a big change and hopefully she will settle by herself but because my flats above the stables everyone can hear her all day - but this could also be part of the problem she can hear us all day too. But I don't want to have to take her back to my parents so looking for anything that might help

    thanks again

  2. iv recently moved away from home and have brought my 6 year old collie with me, at home she went for about 8mths on her own when our other dog died she pined a bit but nothing major- didnt howl/bark when we left the house. we then got a puppy and she was back to normal.

i start work at 7:15, back in the house at 9ish for 20mins for breakfast. back to work till 1 back for a hour at lunch.then back to work till 5.

by the time i have left the house got my boots and everything on and got down the stairs the barking/howling starts and it dosnt stop till im back in the house.

iv read some good tips on the internet but only get a weekend off and these tips require at least a week of solid work- leave for few seconds come back in and repeat till eventually you build up to 40 mins.

was hoping someone would have a different method, i cant get another dog and dont want to punish her with a shock collar at the end of the day she just wants to be with me so im not going to shock her for it.

my house is in a area where everyone can hear her howling so despretly need some advice!

    Thamks in advance

  3. im wanting to buy a spring powered air rifle purely for shooting rabbits and need some advice on which 1 to go for seen as theres hundreds out there and each review pretty much says the same thing.

it will be my first rifle for hunting had rifles for a bit of target shooting but nothing major.

    budget below £300

also .177 or .22 ( not that i no what that means)

    thanks in advance

  4. It's alright pal haven't been a member long but iv learnt to just ignore some comments. There are some decent lads on this site tho,, iv had a few PMs Irish Lurcher being 1 of them offering help with pups and just general kind comments :)

  5. I always walked my permission on a regular basis I only ever go on my permission, but if you haven't read my topic Game Over then I advise you do if you don't walk your Land. Last night was the first time I went on someone elses permission trusting they walk it regulary and it ended badly.

    Always walk your permission!!

  6. It's a kind offer and if it's helping you out then I will seriously consider it :) Sox was a beddie whippet and i was looking at getting a cross like this in a couple of years. He was my second dog my first was a whippet that had to get pts as he had a brain tumor he was only 2 :( No luck in this game

my collie seems to be 'missing' him and iv been told to let her see him but I thought this would make her worse, poor dog since she was a pup she's lost 3 friends

    cheers

    Thanks again

  9. Tonight was the first night iv ever gone out with someone on there permission and il never do it again! To cut a long story short went into 1 field slipped dog on a rabbit sat fairly close to hedge he turned 5 times made a Strike but it got away into hedge, and the dog followed. A couple mins later I hear a scream that il never forget it was my dog but it was worse than I thought. I thought he would of maybe hit a tree or something until the guy I was with sed 'shit I forgot about that cliff!' my heart sunk when the dig didn't come back ran out and round to the bottom of the cliff and It was no small cliff!! He was there, keep telling myself he died doing what he loved and it was short and painless but if I'd gone on my own this wouldn't of happened and he would be asleep in his crate now.

At 17 years old and it will be at least that before I go lamping again it's game over for me... RIP Sox

    Cheers

  10. iv got a 2nd cross beddiexwhippet here young dogg only 19/20 tts. picked up the lamp staright away quick little thing only use him for rabbits hes had a chase of a charlie but it managed to get through a hedge , not sure what would of happened if it didnt make it tbh i dont the dog would of won :( hes a handy ferreting dog too will push through hedges and brambles no problem

Im happy with him the only thing is hes a very sensitive dog even raise your vocie too much and he wont come back to you. also hes got a coat from the whippet side not knocking whippets but he dosnt cope well with the cold or wet, tough with bumps and bangs just the weather lol
