  1. As i have said before, your bitch Vixen is a stunning looking whippet. Very strong build for a bitch.
  2. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/251200-my-hutch-ready-for-kits-comein/page__st__15
  3. A few pics of my hutch, i like to have different levels with ramps up gets the ferrets really strong and fit. On my hutch i made it in 2 parts as i wanted to have a means of cleaning them out without having to box the ferrets all the time. I made a little wooden tunnel and fitted an old air flow damper in it from an old air duct, therefore dont need to box the ferrets all the time i just shout of them into one side then damper it off then do the other side. As i clean them out everyday it save me a lot of time. I personally bed mine on shreaded paper and never get fleas and rarly get ticks, so
  4. I think i would get rid of the carpet as it could harbour fleas and as said the ferrets could get their claws stuck in them. If i was feeding ferrals i would cut the breasts out of them and just feed that. Are those ramps you have to get to next level? i have them in mine keeps the ferrets really fit and strong. If they are ramps i would put some bits of wood cross ways for them to grip on when going up and down. I would also take out the plastic as the piss will be all over it, the ferrets will find i shitting place they will stick to, usually as far from their bed as they can, i clean mine o
  5. Is there is batterys on ebay mate, seem to think i have seen them on there.
  6. I like white ferrets for the reason you point out that they are easier to see in cover. Working wise i dont think there is any difference, you will get good and bad in any ferrets.
  7. Have a look on here mate, some good lads on this site and would be very helpfull to you. http://blackwhippet.**"£$%^&*(.com/index.cgi
  8. I would agree with this, mine is 1/2 bedlington x 3/4 whippet / 1/4 greyhound. Great little ferrreting bitch but as the man says could do with a little extra pace.
  9. Very nice mate, keep us posted with the one you are keeping.
  10. This one is first cross 22" bitch. She is my cousins nice looker and obedient, just a pet but takes her out daytime and catches a few rabbits. we are going to give her a go on the lamp this season. was out of trialing collie sire.
  11. Having been a around bwra racing whippets my opion is that they are very fine built as they have to be, to get a big a dog that can run well as light as possible. This means they are not as robust as a kc working whippet in my opinion but i would think are much faster pound for pound. You could have a 21" bwra dog whippet running at 25/26lb a kc working type of that size would probably be over 30lb. I used to give my fathers racing dogs a run on the rabbits odd times but they were injury prone so he stopped me taking them out. Sounds daft but i think they are probably to fast and lightweight f
  12. I would agree that bwra racing is a brilliant sport and the people involved are very knoledgeable people who can get their dogs in superb shape, as said it is more than a sport to a lot of them it is their lives. I for one have seen some of these dogs doing times you would not belive and as been said the bloodlines go back generations, i dont care if there is greyhound in them i just admire them for what they are super fast game little dogs. As i have said i would not personally have one to hunt with but a crossbred one i definetly would. The best daytime rabbit dog i have ever seen was a trac

  15. One good thing about kc registered that dogs pedigrees can easily be sourced so you can see exactly what dogs/bitches are in that line, same goes for bwra racing whippets. Yes the bwra dogs do have greyhound influence but these lines have been bred for decades, bwra dogs can be traced back as easily as a kc reg whippet. I like either type, my late father raced bwra dogs for years and our family still does as for the kc working type ones i really like them and would like one one day. The kc reg ones from the right working lines look to have all the qualitys i like in a ferreting dog.
  16. Smart couple of dogs mate, should give the rabbits a load of trouble. Any idea what bedlington line the 3/4 is from.
  17. what sort of flyfishing, single handed for trout etc or double handed for salmon. what is your intended type of fish.
  18. register on photobucket, upload your photos on there. photobucket automaticaly resizes them then you click the bottom one of the 4 boxes on your photo till it says copied then paste them on here already resized. Hope this helps, easy enough once you get used to it.
  19. Is that Mike Browns Glen, what height is your dog. Seen a lot of pics of your dog doing the job on here, he does not seem to be cover shy.
  20. My bedlington/whippet first cross is just a small one at just over 18", has a good broken coat, will go into any cover. Could do with it holding back a little and letting the terrier flush them but is in before the terrier most of the time. Catches most of the rabbits on the lamp at the dyke, sharp turning or ploughs into the dyke after them and usually gets them or brings them back out into the field and catches them. Cant fault the effort it puts in, also a good ferreting dog good marker and starting to catch a few that miss nets, just had 1 full ferreting season so should progress alot yet.
  21. Were can you buy fibre glass in 4 metre lenghts and how much a lenght is it. I like 1 met poles have some at 830mm which i think is to short.
  22. My mate had 2 in the same hutch last year, reared them with no problems but they were lined the same time so had young on the same day. If there was a bit of time between them might cause problems. Personally i would have them in different hutches.
  23. Mally's dog defiently look the part and he has them in brill condition. Never met Mally but he comes across as a 100% fella, good luck with it mate.
  24. thanks Bosun, whats it called? 'Rebecca The Lurcher' I read that book years ago cant remember much about it though.
