  1. I have had quite a few people pm me for measurments of my baskets so i am putting them on here rather than sending them all the time. just for anyone that is interested not after a debate. I ust a drill bit either 11 or 12mm to tack bars on for slots depending on the poles used, i use 11mm for 9.8mm poles. I also weld a strengthener on the bottom of the slots underneath the outer band. I will add some pics so you can try and fathom it out. hope thi is ok.
  2. Just shows with the size of that trout it has eaten that you can use big rapalas etc.
  3. What type do you mean mate, i use very small rapalas down to single treble ones about 3/4" long and mepps to 00, i also make my own minature toby style lures and a one i made up myself. What weight of mono or braid do you use for trout, i believe the lure works better with light line and with those rods it is very difficult to break if you get a good fish on just let it go and enjoy the fight.
  4. It is not a bad thing that she is taking a interest in them. I had a hammock in at the summer and the ferrets loved to sleep in it. I have a lagre cage with 5 floors and ramps in keeps them fit (4 jills and vas hob) altough nothing sustitutes plenty of work. I would but a hommock in to keep the mrs quiet and think myself lucky she cared about them. Good luck whatever you do.
  5. No mate, nothing gets wasted with me. The upstream mepp is deadly on this little river.
  6. Took my little 5ft 6" ultralite rod down our local river to try and get a couple of trout. 4lb braid and #1 mepp, caught a nice brown trout then hooked a nice grilse about 5lb, brilliant fight on the light gear.
  7. That is a smart whip/grey, how is he bred and also your whippet please and how do they compare top speed wise, take off speed, height, nose etc. I am very interested in both whips and whip/greys as a future sire to my beddy/whip if she continues to improve, think the whip/grey could add much needed size as the bitch is small. Thank you.
  8. My beddy/whip is just over 18" lacks a little top end speed for regular catching daytime, but good ferreting bitch and usefull on the lamp. Better in small field were turning and sharpness come more into it. dont give her loads of runs in a night, just out for ferret food and keeping dog fit.
  9. http://www.google.co...iw=1366&bih=557 seems there are different ones.
  10. No, i have watched dvds of people not tying it in, it would work the same. Tying it in was on a net i bought and is far better to me as if the rubber breaks the mesh is tied in so a new rubber can be put on easily and will be in the correct position.
  11. That seems a good idea, I wonder where you got the idea from?
  12. It is the knot fly fishermen use for attaching fly line to backing or you can put the tippet on with it aswell, i dont know where it orginated from or for what purpose but has been used on fly lines for decades. I think it is easier to do with feeding the string through a cotton bud as opposed to easing a nail out and feeding the string through the gap left, well is is for me anyhow. When used on the fly line the knot tightens under pressure and grips the slippery fly line.
  13. The knot i ues to tie the net to the running line. You can use a trimmed down cotton bud. When you have established where your bagging wants tied in to the running line (have a mark on running line with marker pen) you can use this knot. No mark on this running line as just demonstration purpose. Lay cotton bud along mesh and running line. Lay tying string along mesh etc Make about 4 or 5 turns around Feed tying string up cotton bud. Draw string through Ease out the cotton
  14. Put wrong pic on last. this is the correct one.
  15. this might help you mate, I tie the bagging into the running line with a nail knot then put a little varnish on it. If you need to replace the rubbers anytime it is simple as the bagging is tied in. Slip the castration ring on the pole. Either side of the knot tie a clove hitch. Slip over pole. Pull the clove hitch up. Place your finger in catration rubber and stretch. Twist castration rubber Place back over pole Either use a bit of soapy water or i sp
  16. have a look for penrith anglers wesite, should be some tips on that.
  17. I have put some whippet pups on for my ferreting mate, did nit notice that i could not till i saw this. He does not have a computer so he asked me if i could put them one the net for him. Put them on 4 sites. Will take add of here now and if you feel you have to boot me off i understand it is my own fault but was a genuine mistake.
  18. Will do, i will try tonight but if dont get time definetly next couple of days. Dont know if people are aware of it but when you buy steel the price fluctuates all the time a bit like share dealing. The other week i bought nearly twice as much for the same money as a few weeks before.
  19. From lifelong cumbrian?? SCRAMBLE I dont sell them mate, i just make them for myself and friends. If anyone is interested in getting a basket like mine i could put the sizes on here as i kept a few sketches and a note of sizes, any sheetmetal work shop could knock one up. They could be mild steel painted, i made my first ones from 8mm mild steel black bar but prefer the 6mm stainless for lightness and no painting. I TIG weld them up as it is a much more tidy job. 304 stainless round bar is not that expensive and i use a bit of 1mm sheet for the band.
  20. When i fasten the laundry bag to the basket i cut it to the required lenght, usually around 20". I then attach it to the rim by knotting each mesh with a 2 turn nail knot, so each mesh is individually tied so you can attach it under controll and it should never come off. It takes a while but makes a tidy job.
