  3. I'm not sure whether the action is silvered or colour hardened, how can I tell? (I think it might just be a slightly dodgy photo as the action looks good in person). The blueing on the barrels has faded a little where they meet the action and at the muzzle (as expected in a used gun of this age), but there's no rust and the barrels are nice and clean.

  5. If locking in the car ensure you remove the forend / bolt and keep it with you.
  6. Hi, I've got an old Lion Brand .22 Under-Lever Air Rifle which has been in the back of a wardrobe for several years, as it's not been used I've decided to sell it to someone who will use it (or at least it'll be cluttering up someone else's wardrobe!). It's fitted with a 'Simmons 1003'? scope. The stock has some marking from a sticker which was never properly removed and the rear sight has been bent to allow the scope to fit: The rifle is available for collection only from Witney, Oxfordshire. If your interested please get in touch with a sensible offer, please no time-wasters
  7. Hi, I'm still having problems sourcing a suitable piece of wood, but I've found several walnut planks, How strong would it be and how good/bad do you think it would look if I were to glue 2 or 3 (depending on thickness of plank used) layers of plank together and use that and has anyone seen it done elseware (if so any pics would be greatly appreciated)? Thanks.
  8. Hi, I've recently bought a cheap(ish) SxS, but being a lanky git the stock is too short for me, I'm currently using a rubber recoil pad with cardboard inside to get the right length, but it keeps moving around and is quite annoying. As I need to extend the stock by about 50mm (2") I think it would look much nicer done in wood (plus I'd quite like the project). So here's the question, where can I get a suitable piece of timber from? Thanks.
  9. Hi, We're getting an Italian Spinone Puppy in a couple of weeks so I've started reading up on basic training. I've just read the Gundog Club's Raising your Gundog Puppy for Fieldwork, which seems pretty good for the basics, but is aimed primarily at Spaniels and Retrievers and I'd like to know more about specific requirements for training HPRs. Can anyone recommend a suitable book? Thanks.
  10. Hi, I'm looking for a .22 Air Arms S410. I'd prefer the Carbine although I'll consider any depending on price. I'm located in Oxfordshire, but am willing to travel within reason (a couple of hours), but will be in Lancashire for a few days around Christmas. Thanks, James.
  11. The question is in the title really, are there any good websites with a large number of second hand air rifles for sale? I've looked on Guntrader but there don't seem to be all that many private sellers, where do the private sellers sell? Thanks.
  12. Now then ladies please put away your handbags Mole, thanks for your input, but I'm not sure why you feel the need to tell us about your experience with the Weihrauch which may have been modified as chances are I'll find a good 'un instead of the dog you tried. Once again thanks for all the advice, I now have a little more of an idea of what I'm looking at, have upped my budget and now want to try out a second hand AA TX200 (I know there’s not much in it between the AA TX200 and Weihrauch HW97, but I like the idea of buying British!)
  13. That's exactly why I've asked as I don't want to buy the first gun the shop wants’ to sell me. I'm going to get out and try a few Weihrauch and Air Arms as I want to know what I'm buying before parting with any of my hard earned. Sorry to keep asking extra questions, but how much better (if at all) are PCP? (Sorry if i've opened another can of worms). By better I mean will a PCP of equal quality to a springer (ie both Weihrauch or Air Arms etc) kill a rabbit more accurately? I appreciate that a PCP is well above my original budget, but if I do manage to increase the budget then I may as
  14. No I'm not I'm actualy 6'5" with stupidly long monkey arms and can't type
  15. Thanks for the advice everyone, I’m going to do a bit more research into second hand Weihrauch and AirArms and might just have to increase my budget a bit to get something a bit better (I just need to get it past the wife!!). Monkey 2011: Thanks that looks like a great offer, but I don’t want to rush into anything and will hold off for now until I know a little more about what I’m looking at. One other question: How important is fit with rifles? I’m 6’2†and have had to extend my shotgun stock, will I need to do similar with a rifle?
  16. It's more a case of how much do I need to spend to get something half decent? My budget can probably stretch to about £200, but I'd like to spend less if I can still get something good.
  17. Hi, I’ve got a fairly tight budget, but would like a rifle that’s up the job of dispatching bunnies as effectively as possible. What can I get that’s still fairly powerful and more importantly reasonably accurate? Thanks.
