Instead of breeding for the exaggerated bulldog look maybe they should put some good working terrier blood into the breed to get back to a more useful and healthy dog, otherwise they are going to end up like those stupid looking American bully things that are all the rage here and sell for $5000 ozzy dollars plus.IMO English staffs are one of the greatest all round breeds ever bred and would be a shame to see them ruined forever.

You don't need to put any working terrier into the breed . There is still worker's out there

Dog that was gave to me

That is off a very old working line in

    Co. Down

Is that dog out of the last ones to come from PM
The most impressed I've ever been by terriers was on PM's yard way back. B

I would agree I was lucky enough to have been in his yard too on a few occasions and seen some of his dogs and they were very impressive terriers in every way.

I think he has a knowledge of the breed and had a line of wheatens that not too many had.

Is there any of his stuff around now?

yes there is a few around some up north

  3. Lovely looking dogs Trap, you don't have to look at them twice to know they're bred from the right stuff. They are Irish working Wheaten terriers. They don't change with time when the blood is kept tight. Credit to the men that own them, I seen that programme on TG4 last week and the Wheatens were not in the same league looks wise, compared to the type I've seen work. Them dogs in the pics look the same as the dogs 50/60 years ago.

Seen a couple of decent wheatens at a show a couple of weeks ago
