  1. Ive allways found a fine tooth saw or a hacksaw works for cutting horn, when Ive been cutting arrow plates for my arrows. Wear a mask or dont breathe it in (its cancerous). I have a drinking horn I got through my years as a medieval re-enactor. I bought it as a fairly rough state the top edge I cleaned with sandpaper and the best way to clean it is the cheapest coke(tesco value or similar) and leave it to sit for a couple of days or so you will see the scum float and then rinse with water and let dry.
  2. As posted theres a few websites dotted around also take a look on the urban explorers page 28 days later https://www.28dayslater.co.uk/ theres a whole section on there and also may interest as well some of the old pill boxes that are dotted around http://www.pillbox-study-group.org.uk/gazeteer/home-front-defence-sites/england/hampshire/hazeley-heath-tank-testing-ramp/

  10. Amazing to hear pipes being played either traditional tunes or modern songs. Tail end of last year I finally managed to see red hot chilli pipers play live after many years of listening to there stuff. They even had a local school pipe band come along to get involved and wow. Also had the pleasure of seeing a scotish rock folk band Soar patrol who use pipes as well.
  11. Once stepped out the front of the house one summers evening, as sparrow hawk came flying out of the tree in a garden opposite down the alley. I must have startled it or it hit the railings opposite. And as it stopped it dropped the starling it had just grabbed from the tree and buggered off. Amazing site and not what I expect to see in the middle of housing estate in basingstoke.
  12. Good video and looked a great day for despite some hiccups. Did the ferret come out in the end
  13. As mentioned could be abscess or it could be swollen lymph glands which are roughly the same position all be it a bit lower but you never know another option, obviously a vet will be able to tell better abscess they tend to stick a needle in and see if anything comes out. Ive got a 7 year old currently and his glands are up and down like a yoyo.

  20. Yep I know that field archery does come a close second, depends on the layout of the course remember a course I used to shoot, one of the targets was a pheasant amongst some big bush rondedrum I think. And the only way to get the bugger at the first peg was to shoot under the branch in front, smashed a few arrows on that one till i sussed it
  21. Just a query really, its not possible for me to bow hunt over here in the UK the closet we get is field archery. I was at a history event over the weekend as a member of public(normally on the other side of the fence as a re-enactor) anyway I was watching one of the weapon demos and they came to the bit about the longbows. I know a fair bit about having used and also do historical displays with them over the last 28 years. But its also good to see someone elses take. They got onto the subject of hunting with bows and mentioned in the states there limited to a 45lb draw weight for hunti
