  1. I have a Gen2+ monocular that needs to go - devastating piece of kit - PM me for more details if of interest
  2. Is this still for sale - if so, please drop me a PM
  3. I have a Nikon 550 if that's of interest. PM me for more details
  4. Are you wanting a scope and mounts dipped. I can get this done - or cerakoted.
  5. I'm not sure a camera filter will work - but there are IR filters available to put in front of a torch. Bear in mind the LED type torches wont be great at doing this because they do not produce much light in the IR spectrum. You'll need a traditional bulb one to get best effects - or buy an IR LED - they're not that much money.
  6. Well if you can ID a rabbit at 200yards with a gen1 Cobra Merlin i must be doing something wrong and spending too much money on gen3 units. So you can tell its a rabbit and not a hare/cat/dog/owl or worse scenario some one lying down, yes i know you are not claiming to shoot at these distances but people reading your post might get the wrong idea and yes i have owned a Cobra Merlin which was good for an air rifle, could ID out to around to 100yards with an 100mW laser illuminator, you might see eye shine at a greater distance but not ID it. My experience is over 30 years shooting and 15 yea
  7. Clulite Masterlite also has a reputation for poor performance in the cold, but is other wise on a par with the Tiablo and Fenix. I use an Ultrafire C8 XP-G R5 which produces 350 lumen (far more than the Tiablo and Clulite, and with newer technology) and is good to 250 yards on ID. The price is also good - less than half that of the brands mentioned. The point on filters from Colster is valid, but it depends on the filter you put on it, as they will block different wavelengths, so one will need a different filter for LED and Halogen/xenon. I use it on 17HMR and a 270 (having just moved from
  8. Ye your scope will work it just makes life better with side px Do you see image in nv adaptor exacttly like in day scope or does it have a colour to it.Will it have a good clear picture on all mag ranges. No its not like a day scope, depending on which NV you use ie: gen1 / gen2 /gen3/ digital you can get a green image or yellow image with an image intensifier tube and digital is like looking at an old TV. As for turning the mag up on your scope, this depends on the scope/NV unit being used and how much IR you are using you can go up to 12x mag usually, i can go to 24x mag with
  9. My tuppeny worth. (1) Don't rush - the comments on movement are bang on, so move slowly and steadily. (2) Patience is so important - don't expect to just stumble on them - they'll soon get used to you, so don't be too predictable! As said before if you find a warren, stake it out for a couple of nights and then move on. (3) Hands and Face are absolute beacons, day or night. You've had good advice on cheap camo gear, but dark clothes do as well - just get those other bits covered! The first thing you'll move when you see a bunny is your hands - bringing your gun to bear - and this can
  10. What make is this jacket please?
  11. In England and Wales,For Muntjac and Chinese Water deer only- a rifle with a minimum calibre of not less than .220 inches and muzzle energy of not less than 1000 foot pounds and a bullet weight of not less than 50 grains may be used. For all deer of any species - a minimum calibre of .240 and minimum muzzle energy of 1,700 foot pounds is the legal requirement. In effect this means the minimum accepted calibre for deer is 243 - many use this rifle with a twist rate of more than 1:9 so that heavier grained bullets can be used. You should probably have (for your safety and Police satisfacti
  12. As always, budget comes into play here - and the range that you are expecting to achieve. Look at the Laser Genetics ND-3 or ND-5 for something really quite special - but it's not cheap. You can buy a good XP-G R5 CREE LED torch (needs to be at least 300 lumen) for relatively little money these days - and with tac switches (I use an Ultrafire C8), but don't expect to ID over 200 yards. The Tiablo A10-G, the Clulite Masterlite Supreme and the Fenix, while 'specialist' hunting torches are all limited to 150 yds - and are about £1 per yard! HTH
  13. I've got a Daystate Airwolf set up for sale you might be interested in, but once you've sold the car. PM me if you want pics or more details. Cheers
  14. Love this as an idea - don't see too much of an issue on cost as you make out Merle either - the benefit is clear. I imagine they get a bit hotter though - any experiences on filters melting? Do they work with a dimmer switch? My only main question would be on whether a HID bulb produces enough IR range light when using an IR filter for NV.....would mean another lamp.....(no issue for gadget freak me, but Mrs O might have something to say.....) Don't give up - the parts should start dropping in value soon Cheers
  15. Hey Martin, I imagine someone from your area might be able to give you an insight into the characters, but on the whole they want to see that you are who you say you are - a good FLO will pay interest in all his charges and hopefully be interested and supportive in what you are wanting to do. They prefer to see that people have thought it through and have the permissions or the club in mind, but remember that unlike a Firearms certificate, you do not actually need a reason to own a shotgun. It will just make the conversation easier - try not to be defensive - you would want them doing pr
