  2. as a relatively new comer to this forum I have enjoyed the vast amount of information shared on here and read a lot of informative posts, i tend to steer clear of the "know it all's" and the bickering that goes with it, unfortunately this behaviour is not solely isolated to this forum but is evident in most other forums.

nevertheless I will continue to read all genuine informative posts and ignore all the other cr*p that goes with it.

  3. Well lets look at this from another angel..if you where out on the beer tonight and you managed to pull a fit bit of stuff...before you go home together she says she fancys somthing to eat. Do you take her to the chippy or would you take her for a Chinese.???

Lets say you go buy a new car, a car made in England of course...would you find it exceptable if the salesman says.."you'll need to give it a bit of a tune here and there to get it to work effectivley.??

I bought a load of Talpex traps last year..and more recently, i just happend to stumble across a post say..If its a genuine Talpex..it will have Talpex printed on the trigger blade...I looked at mine and..yep you may have guest..no talpex printed on the trigger blade.

Now it been bought to my attention that the traps i recently bought off ebay have a much stronger spring than the talpex traps i paid £6 each for.

In my opinion..all four type traps i use do the same as job as the other. Look at it this way..if you can afford traps at £6 to £13 then go for it. If however your not aswell off as some more fortunate people then go for a trap that only cost £2. If your making a few quid at it then your quids in.. If your only doing it as a goodwill gesture for return of permission they'll do the job..if you know how to set it right.

If your intending on doing it on a proffessional leavel...then listen to the pro's..

    Marty

as I said I bought them to compare and thought there was a massive difference, just my opinion,

and where will I find these pro's ?

  4. I was looking to purchase some "duffus" style mole traps and was looking through all well known suppliers websites and picked out two suppliers, i opted for cheap traps from one and some little more expensive traps from the other, just to see difference in quality, workmanship, delivery etc both were delivered this week and the difference was staggering, the only thing they had in common was delivery which only took a couple days but the quality, material used and workmanship was a massive difference, i understand that you get what you pay for and all that but I did not realise that some traps out there are total rubbish .

  5. If its plasterboard fixed on to a timber frame house like mine, this is what i did....

I used a 650mm wide strip of wooden block board, this was then screwed onto 2 of the wall studs inside a cupboard then the cabinet was screwed onto the board and into the floor. Police were more then happy with it, he even commented on how well fixed it was.

If you find concrete or blockwork to fix to i wouldn't bother going to the extra hassle of using resin and threaded bar etc, get yourself some Thunderbolts.. their designed for fixing into block, concrete etc take a serious grip! all you do is drill the hole then tighten the bolt up!!

think this is the road i will go down as i am in the same boat, maybe store it in attic

  6.

I was helping to run the snaring course with SACS on Friday I do the admin but I sat through the course anyway. I think a lot of people are going to fall foul of the new law starting on April the 1st no its not a wind up anyone in possesion of snares of any type after that date can be prosecuted. That means any old snares in your garden shed will get you the jail. UNLESS you have a licence issued by the Police I will post more info once I have sorted out more relevant info.

    Is this 100% correct?... :hmm:

NO ! i believe it is only if you are using them,at the course i attended GWCT course the question was asked and the reply was it is an offence only if you are using them ,

  9. Bought one off the bay of E.

Think it might be an older version as it was cheaper.

Not sure how to set it.

This one differs from the one on the video on you.tube

The trap door is in two parts. There is no rod at the base of the feeder. The door folds inwards into the trap.

And there is a ring on folding section of the door which is hooked over a vertical rod which connects to the lever frame in the trap.

Problem is that the lever slides downwards and releases the door to close because of its weight. so the door does not stay open in the set position.

    Err what do i do?

set the rod at the ring opening, you can open /close the ring for trigger sensitivity,,the feeder sits between the "y" piece of the trigger.

i have one and seen the squirrel hanging upside down from the top and it has triggered it and the door has folded inwards to close but hit the squirrel on the back and it just moves away,to be honest not had any success with it but im gonna persevere. did you not get instructions with it? if you want a copy pm me your address and i will pop a copy in the post for you.
