  6. Its hard to explain- unless you see it yourself. I am a Co-Ordinator for Doglost, I run my own rescue but I also walk & help out at the kennels where my own dogs are kept. A fair few people seeing old marks & scars on a dog- chuck the dummy out & get all arsey bout things. I dont. Not all these dogs are/were marked. But they all belonged to someone. I was refering to last two weeks which have been worse than ever. We check this site because if the dogs are stolen/missing - you need to know what been found & the chance to get dog back. My point was and still is - wh
  7. No - thats not what I meant. I meant proper lurchers as in dogs crossed to get the dog wanted for the job. Beddy/whippets/Wolfie/collies. Yes there are a couple of standard greyhounds. BUT most are x bred. Working terriers- over this last couple of months theres been a few of them picked up as well- mainly pat or pat x but no one come in for them either. All I tried to say & the people who know me will tell you- I will do my damdest to get anyones dogs back working or not. But all these dogs belong to someone, yet no one claims them, no one offers them a home, no one wants t
  8. In the last 3 weeks alone in two kennels we have 10 YES 10 found lurcher/grey/saluki types. 6 from Barnsley area & 4 from Mansfield Area How many claimed NONE- NOT ONE!! Now we know these dogs have been looked after, some are very thin- dont think you should see every rib from start to end but if no one claiming them - where are A - all the people who have dogs missing B- all the dogs that belong to the people who have them missing This is just two kennels. Why is no one claiming them back?? Its not that they are all injured -one was it went straight to vets for injuries to its
  9. Must admit - even though my sluke x dont work she's a right baby compared to other dogs I got. But doesnt sound right & to go from liver tablets to sedative. Have a word with other lads & get it to vet they trust- if you can.
  10. Has anyone around NOTTS/RETFORD/MANSFIELD area lost/ had stolen a young saluki x pup - if you have contact me. Also found lax x & lakey x terrier. Both males. If ANY of you have dogs missing - please let me know - if Im not here Doe will pick messages up/ These
  11. My whole family were miners & thank god we have safer mines over here. But 17 on first day. I hope they have the decency to recover the bodies quickly to save the families even more heartache
  12. One of our rescue helpers has found a pet lurcher near Kirklees Light Railway. She has nowhere to keep it- but we have a lurcher missing in same area- have sent message but waiting for them to respond. Can anyone look after/ kennel in local area for me?? She is pet- friendly, housetrained, brought up with kids. If you can help - please post & let me know phone number- it will be girl called Christie who will call as her sister has the dog THANKS
  13. I totally agree- but no point vets scanning when 70% of people dont even chip them. Lots of working dogs are vaxed by owners, & treat by owners- fine. But if there's one thing I ask is that chip the dog. Use my rescue number if you dont want to use you mobile- BUT you would need to put address on chip or at very least make sure I have your addy to ring you. We have LOADS of dogs come through the various pounds- they are working dogs, some are nicked dogs - we know that but because we cannot find who owners were we are stuck to get dogs back. I think that slukes got prob with
  14. Dog has been found -suspect hit by slow moving train. Has substantial injuries. Tia Rescue have stepped up to provide treatment for him.
  15. http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog_blog.php?dogId=25962 COLLIE X WENT MISSING- possible sightings. FAMILY PET - yound lad is gutted & offering the pocket money he has been saving for xmas to get his dog back any sightings or info. Either post here or PM DOE or me Thanks
  16. Thanks for all the pms. We have got some one that has now been & sussed it out. THANKS Just the moles now & the neighbours
  17. I've met pure pits & they are fantastic dogs. Staffies I will defend to the end. Never met a better, loyal, friendly dog. As with all of them its the idiot on the other end of the lead that's the issue. We've now got idiots crossing staffies, with am bulls, mastiffs, boxers -to make something that looks like a pit. Then they rrealise its crap and dump them- so they end up in the pound. The proper old time chunky little staffies are rare, now we have 'staffies; that are anything from 14" to knee height. any dog can be trained and as the true dog men know- the more you put int
  18. http://www.strayaid.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=11&Itemid=17 Please look through ALL these dogs- even i recognise some as workers. If they are yours then at least let Doe & myself know. some one must be missing the sluki x at the end.
  19. still been sighted- we now have farmer aware & they are willing to help catch him. He is a family pet- only been at new home 3 weeks
  20. URGENT- DOG IS BEEN SIGHTED BUT IN DANGER OF BEING SHOT. IF HE APPROACHES ANYONE- PLEASE DO NOT SPOOK HIM.. IF YOU CAN CATCH HIM- DO & LET DOE OR MYSELF KNOW. OWNERS ARE OUT DAY/NIGHT TRACKING HIM. -Hes a pet not a worker http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog_blog.php?dogId=26120 SPooked by fireworks - liable to be really nervous. Was last seen near Robertstown!!
  21. Thats funny - bulls are fab, just wish i didnt have so bl**dy many of them been dumped. They love to work though & always happy to be busy
  22. If my boring going on every month about chipping and/or tattooing stops one working dog been nicked then its a result. This is on the increase and they are literally nicked to order. The faster we can get onto missing/stolen dogs then better. The quicker we get pics the better. We have as a group started to get a lot of help from police, dog wardens, and the very people who get accused of stealing them. Put this number in your phone 0844 8003220 its Doglost H/o IF your dog goes missing either log on www.doglost.co.uk or phone above number - or get Doe or myself on here
  23. Thanks to everyone who has sent me PMS. I've spoken to owners tonight. Couple of things to deal with over next couple of days - thanks to loads of rain. So - will get back to the people living local in next couple of days. Knowing you are on the doorstep is pretty handy. Even better if you can shift moles as well If I can get any more work for you - I will pass your details onto anyone I have asking for help. Cheers Peeps
  24. The poison had been put in specific places mainly in outbuilding we know they have been running through & not where we have since clocked all the little sods. Bearing in mind this is where I keep my rescue dogs - the owners are extremely careful- we have to be. we wouldnt risk anyones dogs- our own included. The area they are worst in is an enclosed small paddock, they have cover & top of garden- again cover. I can find out the last time the poison was used but totally understand & wouldnt put any animals I risk myself
  25. I've no doubt DOE has mentioned this BUT all people with working dogs. PLEASE be vigilant, chip and/or tattoo your dogs. I know lots dont like them neutered - but anything that cuts down on chance of them been lifted is worth it. We have had massive increase in working dogs been stolen from all over- not everyone knows of Doglost, not everyone uses these forums. Ive not been around much due to other problems/commitments with my rescue BUT Watch where you are leaving your dogs in cars, jeeps. At shows keep them with you. If you are unlucky enough to lose a dog or have it stolen the
