    Great write up jigsaw , enjoyed that . I know what I'd be doing , I'd get u and Kev the biggest rucksacks you can find 100+ litres , chop off want u don't want and stuffin them in , bugger dragging them , get the weight on your waist .

    when the army went from the dms boot[were wet feet was the norm] to the gortex pro boot ,did they fall for the gortex marketing ? ,no , it dramatically improved things. fairplay tho bpr if you have tested your boots to the max , you know , cos nobody likes wet feet . I think the altberg ,lowa ,hawag etc uses higher grade leather ,so prob alotmore waterproof than alot of boots . ive always worn the lowa or hanwag gortex , and have always been ok . but iwould be interested totry the nongortex versions tosee .

    Took advantage of the break in the weather yesterday for some social for the saluki/grey pup and took the pack to the coast. She was abit awestruck by the expanse of it all at first !, but soon got into the swing of it . She doing well jigsaw , confident and a right good doer , eating loads .

    tbh ive always bought gortex versions of boots , and never had much of a problem with my feet getting to sweaty even in summer ,just wear more appropriate socks . like stabba says alot of folk don't keep their boots polished up , so in this sodden country of ours I think gortex lined for a few extra quid is well worth it for peace of mind .

    Cheers Liam , she seems very sharp for her age , she more or less house trained , sitting,staying and retrieving in a few days , Ill keep you posted on her progress .

    I went over to Ireland to collect my bitch pup from jigsaw at the weekend . Many thanks to Liam ,kev and family for your hospitality , the full Irish Breakfast was nearly over the side of the ferry on the way back! The bitch has settled in well ,she is a really bold , clever pup , she's terrorising the others!

    I agree with you snoop , drive should be a given in any working dog , without it , it's useless . I consider myself a half descent distance runner ,and I always give 100% , but if I tried to keep with a top class distance runner , I would tie up , cos of the lactic and have to slow down , cos I wouldn't have the wind .

    1.8vti , x reg , 135000miles 4recent tyres and exhaust Bit battered and bruised , but regular serviced by myself. Great engine , very fast , great workhorse and dog car. £500 Ono .

    I run couple of mike browns , very robust compared to other whippets I have seen , decent feet , but skin very thin ,they are always getting rips . The dog is soft as shit doesnt like pain one bit , the bitch is pretty tough tho.
