  5. I had a couple days off this weekend so decided to go up to the lakes with the saluki pup for some bonding and a bit of leg strengthening ! We arrived in patterdale , and it was sheeting down , so we donned our waterproofs and heeded up the route towards helvellyn . Pass the hunt kennels And on upto striding edge I made a makeshift harness for her out of slings And off we set over striding edge Now I've done this with a terrier I used to have many times, but with bad visibility , wet rock , a gangly adolescent saluki pup ,who is becoming increasingly panicky it's a d

  11. I have a 22tts 40lbish and also a 19tts 30 odd lb dog , , they both robust and can take knocks , the smaller one is much quicker and better in and around cover , also quicker off the mark when ferreting . I much prefer the faster action running style of the smaller one .not noticed much difference in stamina , they all shiver when cold and wet .And if a got another , I'd be wanting one of a similar stamp of the smaller one.
  12. why ideation ? apart from maybe retrieving easier .
  13. imo height and size in a whippet is irrelevant .it should be well bred for work and be robust , but the most important thing is its heart ,and attitude.

  16. I took advantage of the cooler weather yesterday morning and took the dogs to the infamous pendle hill , for those that of never heard of it , it's the area the accused lancashire witches lived in the 17th century pendle witch trails . They were marched to Lancaster castle , stood trail and hung . It must be a bit of a hotspot , cos I'd only just started walking when a farmer came over on his quad and said "thas not be chasing hares with them dogs will ya lad "? Here's a few photos , cheers for looking.

  18. I wouldnt worry about actual speed as each dog is different , for a hard work out , I try and keep them at a nice racing trot .
  19. The pup caught her 1st last night on our evening walk , she was 7 month on Sunday . What I was most pleased about was the way she took it , it was proper shifting on the cricket pitch and she took it in style! I was well chuffed !
