  1. try this http://www.basc.org.uk/en/how-to/gamekeeping/building-release-pens.cfm also read that you should have 1 yard of perimeter fence per bird so a release pen holding 150 birds should have a perimeter of approx 150 yards say about 40 yards each side for a square release pen - but i am sure more experienced men will inform you sean
  2. got my copy yesteday and very pleased, bit worried that he likes to tension his wire all the time though i had receive an under the counter dvd cheers woodga for quick service and excellent dvd sean
  3. guys watch out for chalk symbols on the road outside your house our on fences, posts etc. The scum tend to check the area out first and mark up the best /easiest houses etc then they come back later and do a quick job in the area. sean
  4. copies in post , also found an ad for sabre scopes sent in to u as well sean
  5. Dave if you want i can copy the instructions manual from my hawke scope and send it onto you. know its not the same scope but it would give u an idea of the workings. sean Sunny Co. Fermanagh
  6. dazza make sure u get that fac apllication in on time , and be prepared to wait a while to get it back. hope u have been a good boy as they will revocate it for just about anything. Make sure you declare all convictions (noy trying to say you have any) including any motoring offences no matter how small. sean
  7. Dazza when did u order them, got my fac back and pellets are not included on them, spoke to FAO and he said the were not classed as ammo any more so could buy over the counter without FAC anymore. Give your local FAO a call and see what he says about buying them. sean
  8. guys quote from northern ireland fac- firearms and ammo being conveyed in a vehicle must be hidden from view and should be secured to an anchorage point or contained in a securely fixed and locked box within the said vehicle. think that spells it out for us across the water sean
  9. did a google search perth 3-5 july galloway 15-16 august sean
  10. GUYS WAS GOING TO BUY A JSR SCOPE FROM J RAMSBOTTOM (HOPE NAME IS CORRECT) FOR MY GAMO HUNTER440 .22 (.177 GAS RAM FITTED). THE GENTLEMAN AT ABOVE COMPANY DID NOT RECOMMEND THEIR SCOPES FOR ANYTHING OVER THE LEGAL LIMIT AND DEFINITELY NOT FOR GAS RAMS?????. I AM NOW WONDERING WHAT SCOPES ARE USEABLE FOR FAC AIR RIFLES CONSIDERING MOST AIR RIFLE SCOPES SEEM TO COME FROM THE SAME FACTORY. I KNOW MY RIFLE IS RUNNING A FEW POUNDS OVER THE LIMIT( ACCORDING TO GAS RAM MAKER SHOULD BE IN AND AROUND 14 WITH .177 FITTED) BUT WOULD NOT HAVE THOUGHT IT WOULD HAVE MADE ANY DIFFERENCE. ANY ADVIC
  11. thanks for that guys. Its like boys with new toys, if i bought a scope with adjustable p/x I would sit and play with it and then blame it for making me a bad shot. Without adjustable p/x I will just have to get on with the shooting. Will look at scopes set at 35yrds and it will mean one less knob to fiddle with Once again thanks sean
  12. i know this has been done before , but from everyones experience is it worth having p/x adjustment on a scope that is only going to be used for air rfle ranges out to say 35 yrds. loads of scopes are for sale without it so was just wondering the real benefits in the field when out after pests. sean
  13. north or south of the border will depend on whats the laws and whats required sean

    Gas rams.

i got a gas ram in my gamo hunter 440, it is quieter , less recoil and most say i like it (also easy fitted). only problem is if u are used to the kick of a springer it is a strange feeling when u change over, lots of practice will sort that out. if i every change will get another gas ram. sean
  15. guys and dolls found this site and have ordered one for my hunter 440. it looks alot better than the original. will it improve the one already fitted i will keep u posted, the one fitted feels like the trigger of a plastic cap gun. http://charliedatuna.com/GRT-III%20Trigger%20New.htm sean
  16. lucky it was a cow???? we had a case over here in co. fermanagh when a young child was hit in the head with a .22 bullet(thank god he lived). The guy that fired the bullet did not come forward after appeals from police etc .After a long time the police arrested and charged a local farmer (think he was anyway) and he was convicted.Believe they used the rifling on bullet to find gun. Not sure why he did not come forward , he would have to be living under a stone not to know what was going on and the fact police were looking for someone. Sean

  19. Guys and gals not to get political but across the water there is both north and south of ireland. One belongs to UK and other does not. As far as laws are concerned it depends if u live north or south of the border. The northern laws are different from that of the UK even though it is part of the UK (no political pun intended). The laws in the north are a pain in the ass as all firearms including air rifles , shotguns , rifles are held on a FAC, as far as I am aware the power output of air rifle does not matter (could be wrong) as it will be held on FAC anyway. One licence covers all, its
  20. tango 11 months that was probably quick for them you know what else you paid for such a wonderful service. I rang them once and they blamed my doctor for taking so long however I obtained a copy of my file under data protection and guess what it wasnt my doctors fault .What they failed to tell me was that on two seperate occasions ,one for 5 months and one for 4 months my renewal just sat around with nobody actioning it. When my next renewal is up I think I will send it in about a year early just to be on the safe side. sean
  21. gentlemen if you think the local police are bad wait to have dealings with their firearms Lic branch sean
  22. well i thought it could not get any worse but it has - after winning my appeal I spoke to Firearms Lic to get my FAC issued and guess what I now have to re apply, yes run around after referees , land owners , photos etc What is going on in this department, I dont think they understand the concept of appeals or dealing with anything quickly. Yet again the decent, honest, hard working and law abiding people get hammered. I have now taken all my correspondence with Firearms Branch to my local MLA and she is looking into it and in the mean time I have re -applied. Good luck to an
  23. SPIFF SEE THIS AS WELL http://www.statutelaw.gov.uk/content.aspx?...filesize=147497 ITS THE WILDLIFE ORDER NI 1985 SHOULD COVER EVERYTHING U NEED TO KNOW PRINTED OF A COPY FOR MYSELF YOU JUST NEVER KNOW SEAN
  24. spiff not sure of trapping laws here but would have though the same as UK (dont quote me), but i would have thought that the fact it is a live catch trap which allows u to release non target animals ,there should have been no problem. Thats the whole idea of the trap. Your mate should go back to police and ask them to explain why they took it of him , I know I would and they would want a bloody good reason for keeping it. The police who lifted it may not know the law themselves so you need to get the facts. Give BASC or CA a ring if you are a member. I am not sure but I beleive
