  3. Thanks all. Yes she's a little cracker fair play. She does all I want from her. Been out on the pigeons a few times before the season started. And done a few flights down the marsh now also. Not bad for 12mths
  4. Well another very enjoyable flight down on the marsh this evening. Once again I set up on my favourite little gutter, hide all set up & a mother line put out with 4 decoys attached. Me and the dog settled in for what seemed like an age before the tide started to finally fill the small muddy inlet. About twenty minutes after the tide started to push birds began to move. All seem to be heading in the same direction. ... totally the wrong way to where I was set up !!!! Then out of know where a pack of 7 teal came whizzing low and fast up the inlet I was waiting on. I took m
  5. Thanks bird. It makes it all worth while when it falls into place. The hours of training start to pay off.
  6. Cheers matey, she really has got a nose and half on her. Cannot wait to get back out there with the pup.
  7. Well my first flight of the season couldn't of started any better. This year I started all afresh so to speak. A new local marsh, a new SXP waterfowl pump and a new pup to bring out. This would be her very first flight after just turning 1year old the Sunday before. The alarm was set for 4am, even though it really wasn't needed, as if any sleep would of been had in all the anticipation of being back out on the mud. Up dressed and dig out for a quick empty before leaving at 4.30am. A quick trip down the road and arrived at the foreshore, out on the marsh hide up and settled into place for t
  8. Here for sale is my hatsan escort 20g semi auto in synthetic with a wood affect.. Iv had this gun from new since 2011, it has been well looked after and cared for. I have never had a single problem with this trusty little gun, it runs as sweet as a nut. Only selling now as I need to upgrade to a 12g & need room in the cabinet. This gun does have a few wear marks around the grip where the wood effect is starting to fade, also a crack in the wood effect on the forend. However the actual gun itself is 100% sound, only slight cosmetics. This gun comes with its original box, 5 chokes and key. S
  9. Hi guys last night my bitch sliced her foot on something and had split her pad open ( bloody glass I expect ). Anyway I have bathed and soaked it in warm salted water, given it a thorough cleaning and applied the trusty purple antiseptic spray. Her foot has swollen up a fair bit so I was wondering what's the best anti inflammatory tabs to give her and if any of the track boys are still selling any. I'm right down by the Ystrad Mynach track so can easily pick some up if i anybpdy can get hold of any. Thanks in advance Hh

  11. Unfortunately mate, that's 1 of the main draw back of the whippet which most people cannot stand, still a good game little dog though in the right environment.
  12. These little dogs seem to be more popular than what I thought. I guess the be ideal ferreting & mouching about dogs
  13. Bred this hybrid several years ago,....it seems to be (on the surface) the absolute ideal type for the ferreting enthusiast... However,..the straight cross, twixt a pure whippet and a Border Collie, did not produce the end product, that I desired... I have found that the Greyhound (as opposed to a pure whippet) is a far better inclusion in this equation,...and that is why lads often choose to use a 'Hard Blood' whippet as one half of the hybridisation... As a starting point, the pure whippet, does not seem to have the bone structure or size, to balance out, the basic physique of the he
  14. I'm not really looking to be honest, just was curious what the cross would be like compared to a collie grey. As I'm used to running those, Plus pure whippets.
  15. Thanks for all your replies guys. They seem more popular than what I first thought. Any idea on a average size, I know there's so many variables as each dog is different but an approximate size. Cheers HH
  16. Hi guys, just wondering if any body here owns/works of has any experience of this cross for bunny's. Iv always had collie xgreys , just thinking if this is a popular cross. Cheers HH
  17. There you go Hun, just voted for you also.
  18. Right my lovely's, im looking for a bit of decoying please. As some of you may know its the schools easter holidays, and so far thats all i can get out of my young son (7) is he want's to go shooting. Now i must point out that he will not be doing the shooting just as a observer. He's been beating with me for a full season, he loves his fishing and lamping. But since beaters day just gone he's got the shooting bug. I have all my own gear and fully BASC insured, however just at pressent no decoying land. I know this is a really big ask & quite cheeky as i know the effort put in to gain perm

  22. Cheers for the reply guys. I have thought about a springador, only problen is there's no garuntee of the outcome of who's side the dog will take. It might come out on the small spaniel side and then id be back to square one again. At least with a pure breed there's less guess work involved in choosing a pup.
  23. Right you lovely lot. I have a question which i would like your advice and input on if possible, i have always been a spaniel man myself and love the breed to bits. But this last season i have taken up wildfowling, and as much as my little cocker loves accompanying me on the marsh i cannot honestly see her making the grade, and after witnessing the harsh winter tides first hand, i can say im not to keen on sending her for certain retrives. It's obvious a good strong lab is whats needed here. Now to my question, is there a strain out there or has anyone seen a good hard hunting lab before,
