I fancied a beddy whippet before getting my bitch (collie grey x whippet), but as most of my hunting is around lamping then I wanted a dog with a bit more size as I find a taller dog see's down the lamp better. She has much more stamina than a straight whippet and her nose is amazing for a young unexperienced dog. If you want a lamping dog look out for a good line bred lurcher to lurcher pup that have parents proven to lamping. just my opinion.
Also if the ban is overthrown that dog might be capable of taking foxes and more likely to take one than a beddy whippet as some do but most don'
