  1. I'm not sure and I suppose you never can be but I think. Ibizan hound x borzoi Maybe there's some saluki though!!!
  2. Well done mate! lovely looking dog!! I'm sure you'l nail that other 1 next time!!
  3. I wouldn't even risk running my dog on any of them even if there where 5 other dogs with him. That would turn and charge and kill anything it hits!!!
  4. Hopefully come good for you mate Iv'e heared good things about this cross when the parents were of good stock. Best Of Luck.
  5. Ain't got anything for this year. This is my young pup for next year. Toby just over 4 months
  6. That IS faster over a given distance ie: point A to point B. Put it this way, if someone says "how fast is your car mate?" I don't tell them i can do london to leeds in two hours. (average over a given distance) I'd say 160mph. (Top speed) So when you do your training is your max speed faster? or is it your acceleration to it and how long you can hold it? I'd say both I mean we work on endurance the same as running a dog behind the bike. We also work on speed running a dog behind quarry. So I mean it must be better to exercise and feed the dog well than sit in the kennel doing feck a
  7. Well I play alot of rugby and pre-season and during the season we do a hell of a lot of sprint training. Now this isn't 2 make us fitter for endurance so we can run all afternoon it's 2 get us from point A to point B quicker than the opposition. Isn't that faster/quicker. So if us humans can train to increase our speed (fastness) why can't our k9 friends??? It is a common known fact that if your parents are quick then you tend to have better fast twitch muscles which make you quick so it's the same in dogs. But you definitley can train a dog or a person to be quicker than if they w
  8. Thanks Skycat I really didn't know half of that then. I think 75% of lurcher men/women believe a dog is good and ready to go at 12 months. I'l definitley take my time then. he seems to have grown over the last month or so.
  9. Cheers guys you've put my mind at ease. I know he's still a baby but my whippet cross who is 2 and a half now muscled up at 9 months so I automatically thought it would be the same for him. He is a much bigger dog being 26.5 inches to the shoulder. I'm going to keep his food intake up and regular walks and gallops. Hopefully I'l be lamping with him over 3 times a week depending on land and weather. He's showing really good promise retrieving a rabbit live to hand on a recent trip out. but I won't be starting him tidy untill he's 13 months. Cheers
  10. How do you guys get your dogs fit (muscled up) Is it basically run the dog hard and watch their food intake, or isit road walking and so on?? This is a pic of my 11 month old pup as you can see he's not "fit" even though he does take a long time to tire. It's just he's not Muscled up and his ribs aren't showing. Would you say I'm feeding him to much because he get's plenty of exercise?? Cheers
  11. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...&hl=ortovox Lot's of good stuff on there. sounds like you need to buy a collar off of strong stuff for the transmitter. I went with the B + F. you get a 5year guarentee and it's been tried and tested by I don't know how many digging men.
  12. Like said before if you want a bushing/beating dog get a spaniel. A working Terrier is a earthdog imho but thats another debate. Don't get me wrong ratting is really good fun but if you got a dog that goes to ground and stays use him. A good working dog that stays nowadays is like gold dust to some people.
  13. His Sire is of the old Nuttall lines Really aint got the slightest about the mother. Seen them both work and was very satisfied!!
  14. Picked up my new pup out of two very handy dogs!!! Chuffed with him so far let's hope he makes the grade!!!!

  20. On a recent trip to Ireland my collie/grey X whippet and her litter brother had a fox. Great oppertunity to work this quarry as it's obviously Illegal in this country. It was my bitches 1st and she did quite well for a little cross as she is, but her and her brother managed to do the job. My Bitch is on the right of me.
  21. I like to watch other dogs work on film. It shows how diffrent dogs work diffrently. IMHO If you aint got something constructive to say then shut your mouth!! Keep them coming mark.
