  1. haha Phantom, thats a funny story. Big macho man taking out a wasp with his CP99 but ultimately ended up with "darling wife Lesley was not so impressed and made me wash the window, sink and clean the ceiling" maybe not so macho after all!!!
  2. Good man Aaron, good to see the Lightening XL taking kills again

  5. Might be interested in one. Do you have pics/details of condition/age, etc? Thanks, John
  6. i was out hunting once and seen a rabbit hiding behind a rock. he thought he was well hidden but his ears wear sticking above the top of the rock. So I aimed at a staple in a fence post nearby, well, i say nearby but it was really about 67/68 yards away. So I aimed a few inches above the staple and a few inches to the left as I could see from the rabbits ears flapping that there was a little breeze. I took the shot and watched as the pellet ricocheted off the staple and instantly the rabbits ears disappeared from view. When I walked up to see what was behind the stone, the rabbit
  7. Fully agree with the comments recommending a springer. I would advise going for a good second hand gun rather than a cheaper new one. I'd look for something thats a complete kit (scope, gun, bag, etc) and maybe a little battered round the stock to keep the overall cost down. I bought a BSA Airporter this way and as a fixed barrell gun they're deadly accurate (although maybe a tad tricky to cock for a 10 year old) The reason I say this as when I was a 10 year old I probably would have added a few dents and dinges myself! Theres a good website called Gun Trader, even if you don't find wh
  8. If you had a HW100 you could take a buffalo out...... if you dropped it on it!
  9. yes, I'd say thats worth the money. go for it!
  10. I know its no consolation, but it could've been worse.... Imagine of you'd decided to take a pee......... need i say anymore! Be lucky!
  11. Cracking photographs on that link (although I did chuckle about the "ample parking" one showing space for a Mondeo and a pushbike!)
  12. Hi MAte, I'll jump to your defence before anyone else steps in! What everyone will say is you have to go and look for it. Pop into a few farms, drop by the market/pub/vets and anywhere else where you can meet farmers. Now, you'll have to be more than confident and competent to get anywhere. Put yourself in the position of the farmer, would you like someone who can't hit a barn door pinging pellets around your precious livestock? And I do mean precious as this is the farmers livelihood we're talking about. So, in short, you're going to get a shiteload of "no's" before you get an "I'll
  13. I thought the holy grail of animal shagging was a goose...... just as you're on the vinegar stroke you slam a door shut with its neck in it...... :clapping:
  14. Fully agree with the comments about the .22 version. Any benefit the pellet size or shape may give you is totally lost due to the fact that its so difficult to hit anything! Also, you mentioned they cost £4 a tin... don't they come in tins of 200?!?! Making them about the same price as AA Field Diablos which come in a tin of 500
  15. Did anyone see the news story that BBC Breakfast ran this morning, talking about how the rabbit population is rising and needs to be controlled!
  16. Hi PAddy, There are a few posts on here showing how to use the Tesco lamp.... well worth the £12!!!
  17. With regard to the sunshade issue, I wear a baseball cap and position the peak over the top of the scope. On the pellet front, putting them in your pocket or a bag damages some pellets (especially the air arms field diablos) get yourself a piece of aircell foam (you know the white plasticy foam) and cut some slits in it to about half the depth of the foam, you can wedge pellets in there. I have a multishot and thats enough to go out into the fields and keep my tin of pellets in the car. I used to wedge my pellets in the vents of the stock of my Airsporter, great feature!
  18. Hi Nellie, I use a pump (about £100) and I find it perfect. it take about half a dozen pumps plus one pump per shot. So, if you shoot 30 pellets then it takes about 36 pumps to get back up to full charge. I must admit I bought the pump with the intention of getting a bottle at a later date, but after using it a few times I see no point in it. For anyone who was wondering, I would compare the amount of effort it takes to recharge the Ultra, its probably comparable with running up about 4 or 5 flights of stairs. hope this helps, John
  19. I seen that Air Arms announced they are going to increase their prices by 20%. They're blaming an increase in the cost of steel due to the majority of britians steel going straight to London being used in the building of the olympic village. Expect to see prices rise before the end of the week
  20. Good shooting and great story!
  21. Hey aaron, Its a nice thought but the answer is an absolute resounding no. I remember getting really frustrated one time I zeroed the Airsporter whilst resting it on a wrapped round bale of silage. Then when I actually held the gun and shot it from my shoulder it was nowhere near zeroed!! You start absorbing some of the recoil before the pellet has left the barrel, so you need to do this when zeroing and shooting for real
  22. Its almost impossible to shoot a moving rat. its difficult to track them through the scope, especially in dark conditions. Best to shoot them as they're feeding/drinking, or when they've stopped for a little look the see if the coast is clear. Although I like shooting rabbits and enjoy the bonus of the meat afterwards, I always think a rat is the most satisfying of kills.... and our feral cats don't complain either!
  23. Top man, great story, great shooting!
