  2. thanks for that jasper.. but the incubator i have is a forced air.. funny thing is while iv been posting here the last few days my egg's have hatched(hens). for the last 3 days the humidity has been about 60% and i sprayed the eggs twice a day aswell and it worked 7 eggs in and 5 hatched :toast:just wondering will this same technique work for my phesant eggs???
  3. thanks for the info lad's,
  4. im intending doing phesant egg's am i right or wrong to try ang have the humidity up to 80/85% for the last 3 day's????
  5. just for spotting,, i was offered the weaver to buy 2nd hand but i wanted to find out about it first..
  6. had the very same problem last year where a farmer was letting out his bird's in the morning and was down 1 or 2 once or twice a week. we had snares and cages set with no luck and they were still been taken, so we went to the nearest place where there was a field of nice dry cover, hid behind a water trough and started squeeking(rabbit destress) and in the space of 5 min's had 2 foxs bagged.. there was no problem after that..
  7. iv have recently got a novital covatutto 54 incubator and cant get the humitity up to %/85%.. i have filled the small water compartment full and after 3 day's it was only reading 46%.i added another ponny of water and got it up to 56%. added another ponny the size of the 1 built into the incubator thinking it should bring the humidity up to and over 90% but only reached 60%. the temp is set at a steady 99.5 degrees, is there something im dooing wrong or could the hydro gauge be wrong?? new to incubation. i have it set up in a bedroom in the house. cheers pat....
  8. the weaver night view just wondering if anyone uses this product and is it any good??? cheers pat...
  9. well im happy with what im hearing, i to would only be firing out to the 250 meter distance give or take, well the one i have fired was set at an ince high at the 100meters and flattened a fox at 225 meters band on the cross. as far as the price of ammo at 26 for a box of 20 that's not to bad for the ammount of shooting id be doing. as for the 223 at an inch high at 100 meters has it a big drop at 200 and 300 meters??
  10. it's for fox and iv only ever fired from a friend's .204, without dought it's a good gun but iv heard that the t3 is as good. now it's time to purchas my own in the cumming week's and id like to hear what you people would go for and why? cheers pat...
  11. does any one know how to increase the working distanse of the remote for electric gates, there is an aerial on the system and new batterys in the remote. sometimes it will work form a distanse of about 25 meters which is perfect due to the location but most of the time it only work's from a distance of about 3/4 meters. dont know the make of the system only that it's italian.. cheers pat...
  12. would that not drive the humidity through the roof, for the reason that the contanier is about 1 sixth of the base so by filling the rest of the base would increase the humidity by 6 times?
  13. i have just got a nov cova 54, i intend to hatch phesants, i have it running now for 3/4 days to make sure i have everything running ok before the eggs come alomg. just yester day i got a hydro meter. put it into the incubator yesterday morning and this morning it is reading 42%. there is water in the tray and the temp is holding ok at 99.5 degres F. will i need to add an extra tray of water OR is the meter reading wrong? i would have taught that the water tray in the incubator would hold the right ammount of water to get an average of 60-65% humidity. what i have read the humidity should be 6
  14. well lads how did the week's outing go????
  15. now i dont know if this is a mith or not but hope someone has an answer.... well iv been talking to some people about incubation phesants and some of them have HEARD that there is a way to increase the number of cock's/hen's by either changing the temp a degree +/- or the way the egg is positioned (on it's side or standing).. well been new to incubating and dont know if people are taking the water i dont know but would like to hear if anyone one has heard of this been done. cheers pat..
