  1. http://www.ncbi.nlm....les/PMC2805875/ Here is a link to a study I found on another hunting site. I thought you guys might find it interesting. Here is the abstract: To move closer to understanding the mechanistic underpinnings of sex differences in human longevity, we studied pet dogs to determine whether lifetime duration of ovary exposure was associated with exceptional longevity. This hypothesis was tested by collecting and analyzing lifetime medical histories, age at death, and cause of death for a cohort of canine ‘centenarians’– exceptionally long-lived Rottweiler dogs that
  2. Hi Billy. I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your rottie. You certainly did everything you could for her. Terry
  3. Speaking of rabies. http://usnews.msnbc....rabies-outbreak 32 pet dogs euthanized in New Mexico rabies outbreak By msnbc.com staff Dozens of pet dogs around one New Mexico city have had to be euthanized since December because they were exposed to rabid animals and hadn’t been vaccinated, the state’s health department said Wednesday. In addition to the 32 dogs that were euthanized, livestock and at least one cat also had to be put down in the Carlsbad area. In an outbreak documented by state health officials in Eddy County, 22 skunks, one dog and one fox have tested positive for rab
  4. I wonder if she knows the UK is not a rabies area? Here in Michigan, hunting dogs have to have a rabies vacination tag afixed to their collar. My city requiresd a three year certificate for dogs other than puppies. Thats a blessing you guys can count. ATB
  5. BrianSteven72, pointing breeds tend to have a strong pointing instinct. But, it has to be nurtured to a certain extent. Some pups will point right out of the box. While others, have to be brought along. Letting a pointing dog catch any prey, is the quickest way to take the point out of it. Flushing would be the second quickest. ATB
  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRcb4LlfGeE try this one.
  7. Assuming this is not a fake. There is just no excuse for this. If it is a fake, it's a pretty good one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjDu5zwa4rM ATB
  8. The cubs are nursing, and they are pretty vocal.
  9. I'm in the dogs body heat group. I insulate with styrafoam, and seem to get along with some straw or marsh grass for beading. Dry and draft free is the main thing to shoot for. This link might give you an idea for what size you might like. (I made mine slightly different with the flaps on the inside door. ) http://leerburg.com/doghouse.htm ATB
  10. LUMPHAMMER. Maine inland fisheries and wildlife regulate the hunting and fishing in Maine. The wildlife research folks, gather data to help wildlife managers make decisions based on science. As opposed to public opinion. But, I wasn't trying to solicit donations. I just wanted to show you the bear cam. By the way, what the hell is a minces pie? ATB eyes Thanks!

  13. Thanks! He'll be for rabbits mostly, and other small game. ATB
  14. One more. That's the River raisin. Where our countries once fought a battle. Your guys won.
  15. Thats barbaric! Use nails. Just push them through the rabbit, so the points come out the otherside. No more biting down, Actually, like lab-tastic said, hard mouth is hard to break. But, alot of retrieving drills might help. Also, having the dog carry around a dead rabbit on his walks. (out of the public eye) This worked for my wirehair. As he bites down, correct him. No guarantee's, but worth a try. Good luck!
  16. Hi sureshot360. I agree with casso. Work on the retrieving seperate from any hunting situation. Training with dummies in the presence of game, never seems to work out well. Work in small steps and don't move on to the next step til your seeing 100% progress. By that I mean, short sighted retrieves. Then longer ones. etc. When you move onto blind retrieves. Have several dummies out in the field. So, everytime he's sent out. The dog is sure to find one. Everytime. Having a variety of retrieving dummies, and several places to train, also seems to help. Breaks up the monotony, I guess. Then yo
  17. When you read about Rubin Carters case. While he was finally exonerated of the triple homicide. Back in the day, before elaborate crime detection equipment. If they knew you were guilty of a crime. But, could not prove it in court. They would hang another one on you. "Thou shalt not get away with it". Was the rule of the day. Not considered fair by todays standards. But, it got criminals off of the street. I'm pretty sure he was quilty of something.
  18. Hi Aaron, not to beat a dead horse. But, I know what people have said about hancock's operation. Mine, (3/4 grey-1/4 Collie) showed up in good shape. He's doing well, and growing into a fine strong animal, He's friendly, with nerves of steel. I think it was money well spent. ATB
  19. Mine are bare concrete. I guess, a two-part epoxy paint, that would work on a garage floor would work. But, I don't have any problems with bare concrete. The dogs don't complain. lol Good luck with what you choose.
