    Maybe its just me but...

It's just about the ONLY yearly event i've never wanted to go to.

Seeing horses gripped by fear is not my idea of a day out....

Maybe its all propoganda BUT watching horses half drowning, petrified with fear, whilst being 'washed' (half drowned) in a f***ing river, is not really my bag. Nor some shirtless, crowing traveller youth kicking f**k out of a cob to show his prowess in riding bareback down the streets....

Can't wait to read the cruelty cases on here, because they always follow...

    Ain't my bag...

Yep, i'm a hunter and i've killed just about every critter thats walked or ran over this fair land but its all had the best chance it can get, before it meets its demise, as humainly as possible for the greater good imo and i've never showcased it to anyone...

But i've never 'pretended' in what i do either.

So you can f**k right off with your cock crowing gypsy boys at Appleby.... It's all a big fat dick measuring contest to the detriment to the horses they are supposed to 'love'....

    Nah... It's not for me....!

    I await the aftermath....

Bosun ,,,,,,I will put you down as an "undecided" then lol ,,,,, Spot on though!!

  3. One saying that really pisses me off is ""it gives the antis more ammo " ,,,,,,,,,,,we are talking about nutters who want the world to all be vegan ,,who think the life of a fox is more important than a humans !!! ,,,,,,,they don't like us full stop anyway !!!

Sometimes in certain company I wouldn't admit to hunting ,,,after the ban ,, I decided ,,stuff

it ,,,,now I just tell people ,,,,if they want to be mates ,, ok ,,if not ,,that's there choice ,,,the old lurcher men were solitary characters ,,,,the longer you are in this game , the more you see they had it right .

  4. i have shot foxes , killed all sorts with my lurchers ,,,,,,,,,,but i don't know why ,,,,,,,,,,,i just couldn't pull the trigger on a hare ,,,,,,,perhaps its down to respect for such an athlete who gave me such good times at Waterloo Cup , other days coursing , and the fact that you judge any lurcher you own by the way he tackles a hare .

  5. As my Dad used to own an animal feed wholesalers I have tried them all ,,,,Redmills I found made my dogs look like toast racks after a nights lamping , weight loss was dramatic ,,Wagg ,,,which gives the biggest quantity of red crap out of a dog ever ,,,,,but saying that I had a pup on it and he won 11 Puppy Championship shows on the bounce !!! ,,,,,,I have had dogs kill hares on Aldi all in one also ,,,,,,but for many years now I have only fed raw , chicken , mince , fish , pasta ,lamb bones , whatever I catch , and add sunflower oil , it works for me so I stick with it .

I've been away for a bit and missed this one BUT i'd need hard fact before i'd be shouting from the rafters, film can be doctored any way you want it these days.. My question would be why the feck would any hunt be so bloody stupid and i very much doubt any would...

Oh yer, whilst we are on the subject of live bait, droppers etc.... I've never done it, ever.

If you need to use those sort of tactics to bring a dog on or gee it up in any way, then take a long hard look at yourself and the bin licking feckers you keep.

Your hunting dog, be it hound, terrier, sighthound or lurcher, will have hundreds of years of selective breeding behind it and all you need to do is bring it on right to get the best out of it. Its a long haul but if your using droppers your cheating and more importantly doing hunting no favours, pure and fecking simple, get a grip of yourself..!

Is using a dropper any worse than entering a coursing pup on a September stubble hare , or a bull x , doubled up on a fox ,the key to any lurcher is not over matching it as a pup ,,,,,as for geeing up ,,I once had a greyhound that never hit the lids , but finished fast , we took him out on the lamp one night , the night before a race , never slipped him just let him see quarry running , he was howling with excitement .............he smashed the lids , led all the way , backed from 4/1 into 2/1 ,,,,no animal is the same as the next one , some need different methods to get to the bottom of them .

To your first paragraph Dan then IMO yes it is worse. All the others offer a dog a better 'chance' to catch in a natural state. September stubbles still bloody run, as do doubled up foxes, even using a dazzler. And in those cases the quarry is all natural, untouched by human hands.

Look, i'm no fecking saint, few of us are but i'd rather loose sleep worrying about my youngsters first night out, than offer it sommat almost on a plate and if i'm gonna handle a live wild rabbit then i'm gonna be the one that kills it, as quickly and humainly as possible.

In an ideal hunting scenario the quarry would live to run another day and in reality the majority of true hunters appreciate more the escapee,a catch and kill is often a short burst of euphoria followed by a feeling of guilt and regret. We still make every effort to nurture, educate and enter our jukels into the field with the sole intention of getting them into the best possible position to catch and dispatch quickly and efficiently. The dirty shortcuts we often take to reach our goal are often far less pleasant than what we deem to be "hunting".Hunters know the true value and meaning of the hunt, others appreciate only the catch and kill stage,we may have a common intention yet rarely a common goal, every hunt should be about the hunt only, the catch is secondary to many of us and a quick, efficient kill is a blessing that soothes our hunting endeavour.A prolonged or unnecessary kill we find totally abborhent, especially a baby fox slung to hounds,in reality we,ve done worse in pursuit of our ambitions, sadly.

The fun of the hunt is obviously important but anyone who says its not about the catch and kill is lying ..........would we be happy that our dog only chased but never caught ? ,,,,the intention of rearing and conditioning a pup is surely to get him in peak condition , physically and mentally to kill .

  9. Id not condone such practice, yet id not pick up the first or thirtieth stone to chuck,we all have our own unique ways of training and introducing a mutt to the field and if honesty ever raised its head many of us have some unsavoury hunting habits and training methods.Im more upset that another hunting kennel as had its trust ruined by another sneaky fecking infiltrator, how many kennels now will be looking at their staff and acquaintances with suspicion. If you cannot trust the person working alongside you thats far more abhorrent than the unsavoury demise of a cub, even cubs should be hunted and dealt with, with the respect any hunted animal deserves. When training a sapling respect often takes a back seat perhaps.

Morton ,,,,I couldn't have put it better ,,,bang on mate ,,,,,nothing worse than a grass ,,,,,,,,,,,a hunt secretary told me they traced most of the infiltration on his hunt to young girls who rode with the hunt , being tapped up in livery yards they shared with anti hunting folks about meets etc ,,,I have had running dogs or greyhounds 30 odd years and trust me ,,,I have seen many a greyhound have a " livener ".

  10. Before we all jump on the cruelty bit ,,,,,how many on here have used a " dropper " on a pup , that's been " handicapped " in some way .....or helped out a dog when struggling with large quarry ?

As for not helping hunting .............its never coming back ,,,Cameron was our best bet and he is off now ,,,,with EU business , hunting will never be debated again ,,,,,,,,,,as for antis ,,they think we are scum regardless ,,,,if its genuine film , it was silly , but I am always sceptical of any film the "unwashed " put together !

  11. Before we all give it the " cruel b*****ds " bit ,,,,,,,,,,,,,how many of us have given a pup an " advantage " of some sort on a rabbit ? Or helped out a dog when needed ............if its true ,,yes , they have been very stupid , but as for harming any chance of lifting the ban ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,its never going to be lifted ,,,Cameron was our best bet ,,,hes done nothing and is off soon anyway ,,,,,,,,,,,antis think we are all scum anyway ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,quite frankly ,,, I couldn't care less what they think of me and suggest we all do the same !!

  12. I raced greyhounds for many years and once had a chat with multiple Derby winning trainer Charlie Lister , he told me he put far more importance on the lines of the bitch than the dog ,,,,,,,,,,both with what they had done on the track and what had produced in earlier litters ,,,,,,,,,,,remember a stud dog can mate hundreds of bitches ,chances are he will throw a decent pup somewhere , bitches if used correctly should only produce a couple of litters .

  13. Shredded paper instead of straw will shine the coat , the ink shines the coat apparently , a jeweller once told me , they use a scrunched up newspaper to polish their windows and display cases ,,,,,,,,,,honest it works !

I recently took a pup on , black ,,,,hard to keep on good nick but look great when right ,,,,,,,,,,,,I have now got her gleaming , using , chicken wings , mince , sardines , eggs , sunflower oil every day ,noticed she had bad dandruff after liver so dropped it from her diet , its trial and error !

Serious question ,,,,,,,are southern foxes harder to deal with than Midlands or Northern foxes , or is it the land they are running on ?

A fox is a fox to me mate where ever it is in the country we just got on more in a night down south.

Trouble round here mate is , due to summer lampers and poor shooters they are lamp shy by September !!!

deff true mate, you be very lucky to call a fox in dec, it waste of time. they follow you around when you got few rabbits, but good 100yds away . ive often though mate how many really get caught with dogs pre ban after nov ? deff not down our old stomping ground lol
It's no different down here especially as it's heavily keeper ed but the fields are big so 100-150yd slips were quite normal.Maybe that's why the dogs I've seen run down here went killing them in seconds because they might run 400-500yds before they even get a bend in.You have a couple like that in a night and 2 or 3 shorter ones and maybe a miss or 2 your dog is deffinately going to be sore for a few days. And these big 80-90lb smash them up merchants ain't even going to be catching many to kill them.

Agreed , we have to run them in horse paddocks , through sheep , through hedges etc , so it ends up more of a fight than a course !!! lol
