  1. As a farrier I can tell you what I'd like to see in a worker horse wise, feet in line with the limb when viewed from the front, when viewed from the side, the patterns should not be to long to upright and defo not to sloping. I d rather see patterns upright as opposed to sloping, same goes for the feet, you want bang in the middle but if I had to choose I'd take upright as opposed to flat. If you want a productive, sustained working life the the legs should be straight when viewed from the front and shoulder, pattern angles the same when viewed from the side, no flat spread, crap feet. 3. I have one of this breeding, gentle soul but loves to hunt. I think you could do alot worse, if the parents were ggood dogs you should be on to a brilliant first dog

  7. Bosun, and everyone else. I have to ask these questions, a dozen heads are better than one, and there's obviously a wealth of experience out there. It leaves me with some more study to do but that's a good thing, thank you very much for your help. If anyone knows of any of these present day types with beddy ancestry that are working or have a good working past I'd be really grateful for any information. Thanks again, Neil

  11. Thanks fellas, the collie a hadn't really considered, and feet could be a prob back to a straight grey, wind also would be improved you'd think by the right bull or collie. Thanks again fellas, she's a crAcking animal and I wanna make sure I've asked all the right questions before looking for a stud.
  12. I have a cross Beddy, grey, i really like the bitch, if i can find the right dog i will breed her this year. Id like to add a little strength as she will put her all in to everything but at 18 kg she is a little light. thingy is in not sure to i put her to a bull grey or a coursing grey if i can find one. Probably a a silly question, but i wanna get it right. 3/4 beddy/ greys are reported on here as very capable, yours opinions will be very welcome
  13. My first cross beddy grey. Got to say there hard and stubbornly but I love her work ethic. I hope one day to put her back to something, not sure exactly what though.
  14. Don't damage easy I have the half mil and the million candle but in truth prefer something with a variable control. Good lamps though
  15. Well that's some land you must have, lovely dogs
  16. Good post,it defies the point of keeping a lurcher paying £50 for a bag of biscuit,it doesn't cost much at all, just a little time and effort to keep a dog in tip top condition and for me part of the enjoyment of keeping dogs I don't understand "it defies the point of keeping a lurcher". Surely we all work our dogs for the enjoyment of working our dogs? Not for the free meals like in days gone by? The catch is just a bonus? No? One accident and a trip to the vets could cost more than a years worth of rabbits and make the whole season pointless from a financial point of view. A
