id say it’s the ferreters mate i’ve had spots here always good for a few then a divvy with a spade nets and ferrets and a collar decimates it ten year on still barren

better a little ferret bolts a few for dogs a bit a sport

These things happen I used to love ferreting but obviously I love running dogs more hs2 has alot to blame where I am but on the upside there's been an increase in other stuff so there's light at the end of the tunnel

  3. Rabbit number local to me have been dropping for years you get the odd pocket that holds a good number trouble is if people sniff out a decent rabbits population they hit them hard all year round then as time goes on they wonder why there not there when I was younger I was out more times then on was in never took big numbers but I used to always take a few but some people just take it to a next level almost wiping populations out fair enough is you have to do it but think once there gone the farmer don't need you there,me personally I go where I won't so it doesn't bother me much but to some people it's gonna take a toll

Sounds like my sort of places, Remember Gaz1989 on here, he asked me about getting a Munty so i sent him off to a place down the M1, He said he parked up, opened the boot, dog jumped out, went into the hedge and caught one, That would never happen around here but that's the game Lol.

Its a pleasant change on here to read some honesty and wisdom of the experience's of running dogs on different terrains. The breed blind spew that seems to dominate these pages gets boring very quick.

You know what my famous saying is "dog should of had that"then I think well should he or is it just me hoping 🤔

This is going to sound daft but the best dog for them was a mixture of something that is quick enough to get on them and the determination and courage to throw on a turn and crash cover at the end of a run. Only ever achieved it with one dog. An exceptional night here would be 4 or more rabbits.

Sounds like 1 of my spots accept it full of munty

Rabbits can straight line dogs they just disappear into cover not the distance.

I live in the west mids and there's a few places that are noted for years to have fast bunnies there like scud missiles if your dog can bend them then you've got a decent dog part of it is a cricket pitch bordered by farm land its heavily light polluted aswell so all these elements combined mate the bunnies quick as hell

My two dogs got blown away by a 3/4 grown rabbit one time, I've never seen a rabbit move that quick. I went to the property the next week and it happened again, I swear it was the same little fcker, they just couldn't get near it. I think the little cnt was on the ice. It was a bit embarrassing but I had to admire the little tweaker, lol.

Did you call him a fackin blow flie

Well said I also don't understand those that go out all guns blazing as soon as the crops are down the hares are green n dumb and the dogs learn nothing not even fitness ok understandable if young lads we've all been crazy keen but it's also grown men killing there own sport but as you say this is the best time and what it's all about and it's great to see quarry fit wise n strong and at there lethal best 👌

Each to there own I can understand bringing young dogs on to a degree but then who would want to run a dog on hard ground hands ✋️ in the past I've done it being young keen and impatient but if you play the waiting game it's alot better
