  1. Blaise, isn't badger digging also legal in Croatia ?????????????? Imagine that ? In a couple of weeks time you French boys will be doing battle against another good badger digging country in the World Cup final. I'll be shouting for France. ??
  2. Oh, OK. Thanks for the reply Blaise. It's interesting how it's done differently in different countries. Personally if a fox must be dispatched I do it at the first safe opportunity. Thanks again.
  3. Why the tongs Blaise ? If you's dispatch them why not shoot it as it shows ? In that photo there I'd say that's a very easy shot, or where you just letting the lad have some experience ?
  4. Yep, you'd be surprised what a dog can stomach. When I was a butcher if beef was fresh and not hung well I often stuck it out the back in the sun and it would start to go off. That would mature it a lot quicker for our customers and there'd be no complaints. Beef should be hung for two weeks. Horse flesh too needs to be 6 or 7 days old before feeding to dogs or hounds. Feed fresh horse flesh and your hounds will sqour .
  5. Yes, bacon will kill them, but it's pork I'm talking about. Uncured.
  6. I see raw pork mentioned there a couple of times. The meat I get sometimes has pork in it and I was feeding it (with no problems) but I recently heard of a parasite or similar that raw pork contains and it killed hounds in kennel so I stopped feeding the pork. Has anyone else heard of this ?
  7. It's getting a bit late now as the moult seems to be a bit early this year with all the glorious sunshine but I think most lads had a good breeding season. Although it was a short one.
  8. Zoos have been feeding frozen meat to the big cats and other carnivores in the heat wave. On the news they even had mackerel frozen in buckets of water tipped into the Sea Lions water to keep them amused. IMO that must be taken on keepers or vets advice.
  9. Thanks for sharing Stonewall, recognise a few faces in those pics.
  10. JMHO but terriermen seem to be the only doggy folk who debate the selling of pups, and that might say a lot for us. The lurcher brigade churn them out and with a bit of luck their pup wont see 5 homes by the time it's 2 years old. The K.C. can double that. They have nothing to be proud off. But terriermen do often seem to take pride in placing their pups in good hands where they might get good feed back on their progress thus giving the breeder more info on how his breeding is going. Obviously we have our puppy peddlers but after a year or two of them churning out their curs they don
  11. OK, in the first pic I see a hat that's too big, wellies that are too big and a fish that's too big. You're supposed to be fishing for years before catching such specimens, LOL. Great pics, well done.
  12. I'm not sure Peter, it was only a 5 footer in handy soil. That's women for ye, ???
  13. Sure that's nothin'. When my wife went into labour she said "My waters just broke". I said "Yeh yeh, stop moaning and keep digging." ??
  14. Some would say it's a lie but having seen Hares go to ground a few times myself I know it can happen. In fact, when it comes to Hares, I'd believe they can do anything.
  15. Are they marking Darbo, and do I see a border terrier there too ?
  16. I make elderflower champagne most years but give me that bottle of plum poteen anyday. Lovely stuff.
  17. I still call out the names of favourite terriers gone a few years when calling my current terriers. You never forget them.
  18. There's a serious need for some new proper fishing shows, (and that was no angling show last night, even though it was watchable) unless commercial fisheries and hair rigs is your thing. Have to agree Jeremy Wade is good but let's face it, if he was fishing his local canal for Perch he'd say he was there because someone had been swimming there and got pulled under by a mystery fish and then ask have Gudgeon developed a taste for human flesh. The old ones were the best. Jack Charlton, Chris Yates and John Bailey all showed a slower more laid back approach to fishing without the competitive
  19. You'd be amazed how nomadic Otters are so if you see sign make the most of it as it/they mightn't be there for long.
  20. R.I.P. Tiercel, as most of us knew him. Personally I always read his posts as they often had little gems in them.
  21. Great pics Blaise. The leash with 4 dogs on it is a new one on me, I might get one, LOL.
  22. Well done. It must be in the air, a friend had a clutch of Red Polls out lately. If I ever got back into them I'd love to breed pure finches. Nice one.
  23. Have to admit that it can be a killer method but I'll try everything else before I'll put on a sinking line. I'm a snob, LOL.
