  1. The second gear stick is for 'fwd', 'low range' and diff lock. This helps it with traction in extreme conditions. Usually driven in high range 2wd (even off road) you can then select high range fwd if you start losing traction. when it starts getting steep you can then select low range, which will in effect be like adding a second gearbox to the drive chain, to slow the speed but increase the torque delivered to the wheels. If it then gets REALLY muddy you can then select 'DIFF LOCK' to lock all wheels to run at the same speed no matter what traction they've got. (same sort of thing as your hi
  2. And yet you still looked!!! Stu, you worry me!!!
  3. I thought the Smithfield collies were extinct over a hundred years ago???
  4. I do the same with mine, but I bet mine took a lot longer to do... and it was only 6 Rabbits! Jointed, ready for mincing. Last leg going through (with dog ready to help clear up!) Packed into 500g bags.
  5. When I found out Tia was pregnant, I went to the butchers at Morrissons to see if I could get some Beef fat to feed her up a bit, and it turns out an old friend is now working there. He gave me a 4kg pile of mainly fat but with meat offcuts as well for 55p!!! I asked him if I'd be able to come back for more and he said take the lot if you want it! So the question is, can this be a main ingredient in a Lurchers diet? I would love to start feeding the BARF diet but can't get chicken carcases/lamb breast etc. for love nor money! I've got a small hand mincer so can process it myself and can g
  6. Thank you! I'm sure I'll be bald by the time they've moved on! lol Theirs been some amazing advice from members on here I don't think I could of coped without it! plus Tia probably would of been trying to have her 'one pup' in a dog crate! Just bloody lucky I had a bit of plyboard handy LOL I'll try and get individual photos of each pup. All the best Luke.
  7. Good on ya Nottz Dogs doing well , Thats a nice offer to bull101 and should be a good night out and also sort out the roadkill issue!!! What dog you got Bull101? (I'm guessing it's a bullx of some sort?) All the best Luke.
  8. The guy said he's sorted the problem, got a terrierman in, who confirmed it had gone, and yet 2 pages later and people are still ripping into a kid about his leather gloves comment. Give the lad a break and drop it. How about rather than tearing him apart one of you 'expert' Fox hunters local to him offer to take him out and show him the ropes? Isn't this what this part of the forum was for? advice/guidance for young hunters??? Think it's time this one was closed? Strongstuff - I thought you prefered Marigolds??? I've got some old staple studded fencing gloves you could borrow if n
  9. Had the same!!!, I was trying to teach him to jump barbed wire, so put a small piece of carpet over the top wire and he obviously thought "I know what he wants me to do!" and promptly jumped the fence but my head was still in the way!! came away with a black and swollen eye!
  10. not worth paying out for another collar if it's already got one, it won't fit for long at that age? wait until he's out grown that one before buying another.
  11. Sorry I meant his eye's were black not his coat, Your right, their all a dark Brindle colour.
  12. I think something like a Plummer would suit you down to the ground, Bred for bushing and will rarely go to ground, an easy going, biddable, smallish dog. would work well for Ferreting and can be great bushing dogs. Fairly trainable but not too hyped up. Plus their quite good looking Terriers so your mother would like it too! JMO I'd steer clear of a Patterdale, unless you've got a collar and spade handy! Bred for earth work, they just can't help themselves! Dry food will be fine, the BARF diet is great for a dog but not so great for your mum! As for the Insurance, most will not ins
  13. Well another quick update, got back from work to find little'un had opened his eyes! of all the pups I didn't expect him to be first! No colour to them yet just jet black. I guess the rest will be following suit soon enough.
  14. Sorry I missed this post Rob, looks like you had a cracking day out despite the weather! Good you ya!

I'm sure he'd teach mine a thing or two mate, it's in his breeding! I wish I had shaved me bonce mate, it was roasting that day!!! I changed my clothes three or four times, they were drenched! i also had on a Barbour and a pair of waders with the boots cut off!
  16. Bloody hell mate, if you didn't carry so much equipment with you, you wouldn't have to strap a life raft to your back! And did you know ROFOS is a slang name for a date rape drug!!! Looks like it will end up being a good weekend, well what the other members will remember of it! LOL
  17. The face say's it all! good on ya!

  20. Thank you Craig, to be honest I haven't actually noticed any differance in them if I forgot to give it to them! so might as well just drop it completely. Cheers Luke.
  21. I was just wondering when breeding Lurchers, do they use a male sighthound on a normal bitch or a normal dog on a sight hound bitch? and is their any differance in the litter between the two?
  22. She's turning into a cracking looking dog, hope she does well
  23. Bloody hell! some of these dogs eat better than I do!!! Both of mine are on quailty complete with SA37 skinkled on but also get meat, fat and lamb bones from Morrisons as a friend works on the butcher counter and saves it for me (just wish I could get enough to feed all the time ) They also get a cheap tin a tuna in oil and a cod liver oil tablet once a week.
  24. Dogs will also eat the contents of the animals gut, therefore getting the 'Veg' part of their diet. If your moving over to the BARF diet then you'll need to mush up veg and put it with the meat and bones.
  25. An hour!!! I could be out all day and all night an only see half that many!!! LOL
