  1. Some fine pics there Dave thank you for sharing Thise Hounds look a lot smaller than the ones we have round here? (Somerset) I didn't realise they varied in height so much? Thanks again Luke.
  2. Lucky for me, you lot did turn up late or Roo wouldn't of won anything! LOL Well done to the pups, they deserved them. They looked like little stunners Pass on my best to W.H, that Staff of his is a cracking little dog nice to see a decent working one for a change! Was good to meet you all again, Cheers Luke.
  3. Still haven't got any individual photo's but have managed to get a video of them. They were being particularly noisey and boistrous tonight so turn the volume down! One of them has even started barking now LOL! Tia's still being a gem and is keeping everything pretty clean (including me!) and their still throwing on the weight. Day One, Day Eighteen Pup 1 - 333 - 1364 Pup 2 - 482 - 1764 Pup 3 - 411 - 1593 Pup 5 - 482 - 1658 Pup 6 - 217 - 846 All the best Luke.
  4. I usually do more Sloe Vodka than Sloe Gin now. I've got 5 Demi-jons ready for this years crop!!!. I'll fill them all this year then just top up empty ones every year after that. I've got another 5 Demi-jons spare, so if anyone know's any other decent drinks to make, then put them up. Cheers Luke.
  5. He's on the mend, Thank you I cleaned it out when I got home, there was a small piece of fur and skin that had been ripped off and pushed back into the muscle and it's also torn part of his cheek muscle and pushed it back under itself, but all sorted now. Yet another war wound to add to his already 'distingished looks' Was good to catch up again! and thank you for the sausage sandwich and the biccy's for Emily! All the best Luke
  6. A warm brick wrapped up (heat it in the oven or in front of the fire) and/or a radio playing quietly. Calms them down a treat.
  7. Was very quiet, not a great turn out for the Lurchers, but a good do for the Terriers. My 4yr old daughter won the Best child Handler, she was the only one in the ring! lol so came away with two first's and two seconds. Roo won the racing but slammed into the Lure machine that hadn't been protected and now has a large hole in his cheek Met several members from here and had a good chin wag though. so wasn't too bad. I didn't see you anywhere Clabby? looked about for someone with a ferret box but couldn't see one!
  8. Cheers Rob, was a good do! We were after them for a Game dealer so only ever go for head shot's, so it was just an accident. You can see the Rabbit move just as he takes the shot. Don't be Dumb, I was laughing at the situation not the Rabbit suffering. Trying to speed shoot with a beaten up gun that keeps dropping the bolt out of the back, at a rabbit that's running about the hedge backwards. Not your average sight on a night out. We drove straight over and by the time we got theur it was dead, hung in some twigs about 6 inch's from the ground. So I had it for the me and the dogs.
  9. And their still whinging at each other! lol Sounds like the kennels coming along well, don't forget a photo for us of the pup in his new home! The food looks fine, introduce it to their diet over several days though (they might get the squits otherwise!) Maybe the breeder will let you send them a bag of food for your pup? Stick to what the puppy knows for feeding times if they can leave food down all the time then you can do the same. For our Spanial we always used to just leave food down for him, he could eat when he wanted. Worked fine until Tia came along! she'd scoff the lot as so
  10. That happened a few times! pulled the bolt back to reload and it slid straight out of the gun!!! lol I edited out most of the swearing!
  11. I take it you just don't agree with this form of hunting? It's an effective method of pest control, I take it you wouldn't whinge if it was a pack of Terriers on a Rat, or hounds on a fox? He's an Aussie you tit. Check the flag next to his avatar! (or his other posts) Plus it's a differant breed of pig than we get here, also the collars his dogs are wearing are BLOODY hard to get hold of over here. Only one person I know of on our little Island that makes them and they look nothing like that. So if your going to bitch and moan about something you've obviously not got the faintest clue about
  12. We were having a competion with the Head keeper and Stalker who could get the most quarry. Crossed in the middle then went back over the other groups land. I was lamping for the first half so couldn't film. So they had already been lamped once that night. They get wise quick! Most of it's just for a bit of fun and meat for the game dealer. They'll be Ferreted come the winter time. I'm not used to seeing so many Rabbits in one night, I had Roo in the car but we couldn't fit him in the Sporttrak with us, so he had to stay behind. Bit gutted really, as he could of accounted for a few of them
  13. I think thats probably enough said, before it goes further down hill. He's only a young lad and your starting to argue and swear on his thread. Cheers Luke.
  14. Went out with a couple of friends last night lamping in his Daihatsu Sporttrak to get some rabbits for the Gamedealer and see if we could catch a fox or two near the pens. I was lamping and filming, one of my mates was in the back with me on a .243 and my other mate was driving and shooting the rimmy. His Anschutz semi-auto Rimfire was still in the gunshop so he took his dads old bolt action out, which used to be an estate rifle, so has seen better days, also it only has a cheap 3x scope on it that is older than me! You hear him cussing it about half way through lol As an added
  15. Thank you, I'll just be taking Roo with me, unfortunately Tia will have to stay with her pups. but I'll give him a go in the racing if he's not too stiff in the morning and if theirs a ring for working dogs then I'll enter him in that. He isn't the prettiest of dogs, so he doesn't get a second glance stood next to a slim, deep chested whip/grey lol. Do you know if it's going to be signposted? just checked on google maps and that address is someones house lol! Maybe I'll see you there Cheers Luke.
  16. Thank you, I'll see you there, If I can wake up on time!, been out lamping tonight and only just got back! and will be the same again tomorrow night!
  17. didn't even know it was on! not too far from me so hopefully be able to get there. any idea what time it starts?
  18. They should staple health warnings to a Lurchers arse in my opinion! the bloody smell of the farts is horrible! I'm trying some charcoal powder on his food at the moment, apparently it'll calm his bowels down a bit? I'll let you know how we get on! Theiving food off the work surfaces and out of the bin. The missus almost sent him back to the Rescue kennels last month as he got out of his crate somehow and trashed the house. Dragged the bin through the house then as he was tired after all that fun, got into the bedroom and made a bed out of all the clean, ironed washing. Tia used
  19. I was just cutting it down into chunks and giving her 250 grams in the evening. As you see from my other thread, she had dropped a lot of weight. I also give Roo a small amount in the morning if he's going to be working in the evening/night time then again give him some when we get back with his dry food. I've taken the last of the fat and minced it with some old sausages, bacon, ham, burgers, liver, kidney and oxtail also 4 eggs and two sausage rolls! It was all stuff I was given, or was out of date in the fridge. Frozen most of it in 500g bags, so I can take one out a week and use i
  20. Strong stuff for strong collars, DDD for Leather work. Both are very good value and do excellent work.
  21. Fair enough! thanks guys and girls, I'll finish this up then cut it out of their diet. I'll see if he can get me just the meat not the fat as well. To be honest these last two pieces are probably nearly all fat, some of the other bits, I was tempted to eat myself! it looked like prime cuts of beef??? I get the lamb bones and Ox tails when they come up and also the Lamb or Pigs liver/kidneys when on the clearance shelf. Cheers again Luke.
  22. I remove the large bones, hip, spine, shoulder blade etc. The rest goes through it, can be a bit tough sometimes and it will occasionally jam. but usually it's not too bad. I got this one from my father-in-law and he got it from his mum, so don't know if they still make them? if so then their fine for small amounts.
  23. I used to worry about this, thinking I should let him get his breath back between runs and stop panting, but I've now found if their's anything interesting going on then he stops panting! so as said their just trying to cool down a bit. if your not in a rush then just stand quiet for a bit, let them (and the disturbed rabbits) calm down, then carry on. I'm sure guys that catch big numbers have to go at it quite hard so just get the dog straight on the next Rabbit, but down here runs are few and far between so no rush!!!
  24. I doubt if very many Plummers will be worked by serious terriermen or gamekeepers, they get a Terrier for a specific job and it's one that a plummer doesn't seem to like doing, going to ground! but their seems to be quite a few that are used on rats and rabbits. PM Keeps from this site, they work a few and have the odd litter now and then. Could be worth travelling for the right pup. As for the Kennel/run we used to just use four large 4inchX3inchX9ft poles concreted in, with Chain link fencing we got cheap stapled to it ( and sunk in a foot) Although as Steve said, 2x2 weld mesh will be
