I used to a lot of hedging without stakes, just use lots of baling string to tie it all together in a long sausage shape, it doesn't look nearly as neat as stakes and binders but makes a passable hedge non the less. All the stumps and pleachers sprout out just same, when it greens up you wouldn't know. That said if you can get stakes use them. Keep in mind if you use willow for the stakes they are all going to grow.

Dogs like most animals cannot speak English, they communicate a lot with body language hence anybody (or dog) having a seizure is going to be giving some pretty strange or possibly even frightening messages to their animal companions hence having a fit around dogs could get you attacked. Just my theory. Not the dogs fault.

Just enjoy the puppy phase. It will not need any encouragement to chase, ALL dogs enjoy chasing rabbits, this time next year you won't be able to keep it out of the hedgerows if you wanted to.

The ad uses terms like "gorgeous" & " fabulous pedigree" The best bit is they are only asking £950 for a pup, perhaps it should buy a brace? Doomed to be a minority breed.

Why risk introducing dog aggression into your little pack? Spanial & hound crosses would hunt just as we'll wouldn't they? And almost guaranteed to be sociable.

Sounds like a nightmare cross, I imagine it would be more interested hunting down other dogs than any legit quarry. Hate to be negative but I wouldn't have one for a gift. But hey never seen one in the flesh so could be wrong.

Thanks for sharing the pics, looks like top dog sport! I spent 1994 in the states, we tried to shoot some troublesome coyotes one night with a "stake out". I sat in a freezing pick up over looking a dead cow for hours. It was about minus 15c that night & by the time the coyote pitched up I was too cold to shoot or care. Needless to say no coyotes were harmed as a result of my hunting activities! What's illegal? running the dog alongside a bike? I think I got that wrong: its illegal for a dog to pull a cart on a public road in this country: for 'cart' read buggy, sled or whatever! So I won't be dog scootering along the roads! I am believe its illegal to use a dog as a draught animal in the UK.

Hi, I am one of those wierd people that enjoy long distance running. If am running with the dog on the roads I use an elastic lead I got from the "CANI-X" people, I sometimes use it with an "x" type harness like the husky types use for pulling, the whole kit was a shocking price but it does seem quite rubust, My dog must be nearly seventy pounds and if a deer or cat crosses the road I can be in for a "wild ride"! The kit has never broken yet. I rarly use the harness as my dog does not ordinarily pull, she infuriatingly trots by my side for miles, even when I could do with a hand up the hills.
