Yeah but the beddy is so fat back. It must be a strong gene for the woolly coat to keep popping up.

So is it the bull or the saluki that gives the modern day coursing bred the staying power and tenacity, or did they both add to the breed ?

    Cheers.

the saluki lurcher merlin eve stuff is slightly differnet style some say better on the eye to a pure saluki mate so all the types have added to aint what is the saluki lurcher aint they good killer to good killer some like mine look strong bully some like that bell stuff look brindle and grey looking to scruffy wire haired types all have similar blood just differnet lines all have me thing in common hare killers pop uo in litters

For the last few years I’ve bred my own layers, they are Black Leghorn x Bovan Goldline; both prolific layers and I think I’ve hit on some hybrid vigour and they lay huge eggs every day.
I’ve some second generation and they are laying slightly less, smaller eggs ?

Can this be correlated to lurcher breeding ?

Im also breeding some gamefowl that are massively inbred, it will be interesting to see if they are as good as the original stock .

    Cheers.

so is an outcross better then inbreeding ? a lot say 2 inbred lines bred together is the one dont they

    Yes, farmers use chemicals.

Right or wrong ? I don’t know enough about it, but they couldn’t grow enough without it.
I try to be as “organic” as possible, not because I’m some woke lunatic, it’s all economic to me; I make most of my own compost, I use home made garlic spray on my veg and use beer traps and copper tape for slugs.

My poultry is fed on natural food and they have plenty room to forage.

Three people I’ve given eggs to today have said they are far better than supermarket eggs.
Today for my dinner I had pigeon breasts and vegetables, all shot or grown by me , probably why I’m such a fine specimen of a man well into my 70’s ! LOL !

    Eat well…Live well !
    Cheers.

organic or chemical it’s all the same once the plant has used it mate aint it i wouldnt get hung up on it but organic if you can why wouldnt you

i always get eggs from. free range organic honesty box they are better i think aswell

I know it’s on a micro scale, but with allotments we have to rotate crops.

Different crops take different nutrients out of the soil, so crop rotation is a must and we have to add different nutrients according to what we want to grow.

It must be the same on farms , albeit on a macro scale ?

So some years you will have winter wheat; other years you will have spring wheat.

Id guess the harvest would be around the same time ?

    Cheers.

your organic though mate farmers just  use chemical fertiliser is it as important to help the soil i know they do what your saying after rape i think

He been watching shit dogs for years, his own dogs take 6-7 minutes to get 1 hare in the bag.

Now this is a complete guess, so please don’t quote me.

Perhaps a field has been used for a slow growing crop, so for crop rotation the next year it’s planted with winter wheat.

Ir a field had been planted with a fast growing crop, and again , for crop rotation, it’s then planted with spring wheat ?
I don’t know mate, but I look forward to someone with more knowledge of the subject informing me !

    Cheers.

maybe mate leaving the stubble turning it will help the soil i recon

I don’t know mate, as I said , I’m not a farmer either. I’d guess, but could be wrong, that it’s to get two crops a year.

Someone like Don will give a far better answer than me .

See, it’s easy to say you don’t know ! LOL !

    Cheers.

how’s it giving 2 crops a year ? wheats all down the same time .some land peaty they get a couple a crops a year

Neither am I, but as an allotment grower I know there is winter cabbage and spring cabbage 🥬

I also have a good idea as someone who walks the land what crops are growing and when !

Theres an old saying that goes something like; “ it’s better not to comment, and be thought a fool, than to comment and confirm it” ! LOL !

But don’t worry, I haven’t given up on your education, even though it now seems more of a penance for my past deeds than a charitable contribution !

    Cheers.

why is it done incase a bad winter ruins them ?
