  1. Hi. Just heard tonight from a mate that there has been two men shot by accident while goose shooting around dunning area ....supposedly accompanied with a guide....Dont know if its all made up or if its true ...Has anyone heard anything????
  2. Actually the weather was fine for most of the time , a couple of nights was horrendous though . Did you get a guide or just on your own? Andy Hi Andy we originally had booked a guide but cancelled after he did'nt return any of our phone calls. So we just done it on our own . Cheers Davy Looks like good fun. Was it hard going or easy enough to get permission? I've always fancied it. Andy We found it pretty easy ....however we did get a couple of knock backs due to the ground already being rented out for the goose shooting to italians....but most farmers we asked were ok ..

  6. Hi...Got back from orkney on Thursday .We were concerned about getting no shooting but we didnt need to worry. There was plenty of geese and the shooting was second to none . We ended our trip on 58 geese.....55 being greys and 3 pinkfeet...the pictures below showing the geese were taken on wednesday and we had 2 more flights still to go...an evening and a morning flight ....I know some people will say thats far to many geese but if you break it down into the flights we had we are actually under the limit set of 5 per gun per flight...There were 3 of us and we had 7 flights 4 mornings and 3 eve

Hi Allan We are coming to orkney on the 25th till the 28th of october...we are hoping all goes well because although we have had varying success with decoying we are far from experts so looks like it will be a hit or miss affair ....hopefully more of a hit ..... cheers Davy

Hi ...has anybody been up to orkney this season ???....We had a few days booked at the end of this month but for some reason the guy we were going with chose not to return any of our messages which prompted us to cancel ...since then we have heard he has cancelled all his bookings for whatever reason...so instead of us not going we have decided to go it alone when we get there but was just curious to see if anybody had been already....as it is our first time up there we want it to be worthwhile....cheers Davy
  14. Cheers ..i will have a look at the articles that you are talkin about ......I have maybe half a dozen lyin in the cupboard which are not gettin used and i thought about tryin my hand at catchin some rabbits for ferret/hawk food ....Davy
  15. Hi Guys....i seen a post the other day about someone using mk6 traps for rabbits ...i have never used them for rabbits but how productive are they compared to using snares.......How do you go about setting them up ???...Where do you set them ????....also is there not a bigger risk to catching non target species????....any help or some photo's of how you set them up would be helpful...cheers Davy

    which falcon

Well nothing wrong with being a bird keeper as you put it but hey each to their own.....the only reason i spoke about a "lure bird" is because i dont have the land to fly a falcon on successfully ....well not to any kind of live quarry ...however it does'nt stop me from admiring falcons and wanting to own one...the way i see it is if the bird is out virtually every day and flying to the lure it will still get a decent amount of manning and exercise ...this will obviously have its down sides but i have been hunting with harrises for around 9-10 yrs and i will still be hunting harrises for th
  19. Hi Adam.....I think for the money you cant really go wrong with the hatsan ....I bought mines about 2weeks ago (3inch gun) i had a good day at the pigeons with it a couple of days ago firing just over 100 shells with no probs .....sure you can save yer money and buy a beretta or a bennelli new or secondhand but for the money you are gettin a new gun with a 3 yr warranty so if anything does go wrong just take it back to the dealer....when i bought mine there was a beretta al391 with the synthetic stock , it was secondhand and the dealer was wantin £900 if i remember correctly ...sure i would

Hi Kev ..Thanks for the advice....for my first falcon i was thinkin along those lines with a lanner ....it will only be used as a lure bird so i think this will suit me just fine ...cheers Davy

hi ....ii have been flyin a female harris for about 9-10yrs now but was thinkin abnout a falcon ......which falcondo you guys reckon would be an ideal starter bird....forgot to add this bird will mostly be doing lure work as i want to learn the ropes more before i buy a decent falcon ......many thanks davy
  22. How do you like your Hatsan Escort 12g Semi Auto ? Is it a good gun, reliable ? Thanks Hi....I have just bought the gun last week ....i have been out just to try it ...fired about 17 or 18 shells through it with no probs...Iam just waiting on the farmer gettin some crops cut and i will give it a good workout on the pigeons.....To be honest i was lookin at the midland 800 series but ended up with this after i went to the gunshop....i have read a few posts on the hatsan ...some good some bad.....but it all comes down to money in my situation, At the end of the day it cost me £350 which in
  23. Hi FV.....I can only imagine just how hectic it would be.....iam glad i only have to stick to the smaller warrens.....iam tryin to think about the biggest warren on any of my permissions and i reckon they will be between 20- 30 holes ....but like i said earlier i normally try to stick to the smaller warrens only trouble is you can get round the paermission fairly quickly when you miss out the bigger ones...That has been the reason for gettin the other jills so i can give some of the bigger warrens a try .....anyway all the best for the coming season......Cheers Davy
