  1. I don't blame you packing up i would have done the same. Why they can't just stay in the house out of the way when you are trying to help them i will never know.
  2. I have looked through a wraith and if i was you i would wait until the budget can stretch to one of the new pards, alpex or c50s. A friend of mine that owns a rfd has just put one of the new pards with lrf on a 204. I am going to help him zero it today weather permitting. He is clueless with any form of technology , so i will at least have a good idea of its capabilities but in daylight.
  3. I was having my breakfast on Thursday morning when i got a message through on WhatsApp. It was a video of a fox in a big garden and I recognised where it was. It was quickly followed by another message explaining that the fox had killed one of his chickens and could i go and have a look for it. This is at the home of the chap that owns three farms not too far away from me that I shoot foxes on regularly. I said I would go at night to have a look. It didn’t rain that night so I got my gear together and rang him to say I would be 20 minutes. I asked if there was anywhere in the garden that I cou
  4. The problem with pulsar and a lot of other manufacturers is they aren’t making products for the uk market. Our market here is too small for those manufacturers to be overly concerned about what we need. We require a fairly high base mag because we are shooting at small targets and at extended ranges. Pulsar et al are manufacturing scopes with a low base mag to cater for the pig shooting market, which is no use to us. Senopex seem to have cottoned on to that and produced the A7 which is ideal for our foxing requirements. We got lucky with the Drone pro in as much as it was never intended for ou
  5. A mate of mine is a gamekeeper and I help him quite often. He once asked me if I never fancied being a keeper and I told him “ nobody in this country has enough money to entice me into the job “. If he isn’t talking about pheasants he is thinking about them. No I would much rather make good money doing a job I really like then spend whatever time I want in the countryside.
  6. The senopex A7 is just shy of 3k. It is the best of the long range foxing scopes because the base mag is 7.
  7. Affordable n/v will always be available. The manufacturers know the market and will continue to cater for everyone, after all it’s in their interest .
  8. Picture in Picture, it is a small screen at the top of the main screen and it increases the magnification.
  9. A couple of weeks ago I decided to try a thermal scope and so I bought a Senopex A7. For one reason or another I haven’t been able to zero this scope but yesterday afternoon I had the chance to. I used a hand warmer as a target. Now I will say that I am used to a Drone pro x10 so I compare everything to that. My first impression when I looked through the scope and found the handwarmer was “I don’t like that “. Even after playing about with the focus the target edges weren’t defined but there may be other settings in the menu that help with that. I am not quite up to speed with this scope yet a
  10. I sometimes take the bladder out of in heat vixens and use it to attract problem/wary foxes of either sex. I empty the bladder contents into a small plastic bottle.
  11. Another shoot today but just a short morning affair, very pleasant all the same. I let my grandson shoot today and to be honest I have seen him shoot a lot better but he really enjoyed it anyway. He only managed a duck and a pheasant. I am going to get him to the clay ground for some coaching to iron out his problem. Total bag was 38 head. Of which there was 18 mallard, 14 pheasants, 2 Teal, 3 partridge and a really big nice pigeon that my ferret has had for Christmas dinner a day early.
  12. He has said he no longer has one. However that could be remedied.?
  13. I have used rimfire on rats lots of times.
  14. I think you will find it is IMPUNITY. Meaning of impunity in English impunity noun [ U ] UK /ɪmˈpjuː.nə.ti/ US /ɪmˈpjuː.ə.t̬i/
  15. No i have never been on any social media ever and never will.
  16. I have bought myself a Christmas pressie or two this week as well. In fact I have mostly been spending a fortune ? It started with a trip to the RFDs for bullets, powders, primers and 500 hornady hmr rounds total £530. Well why stop there, so I bought a Drone pro x10 off a bloke i know that has packed up shooting. He hasn’t used it a dozen times. While I was on a roll I thought I might like a new spotter so I bought a Helion 2 pro xp50. Next up i thought I might be able to use a thermal scope in certain conditions so I bought a Senopex A7 long range foxing scope that will arrive next week. Las
  17. It was our fourth shoot last Saturday and it was a cracking day. The total bag was 50 head. I managed to shoot four ducks, four pheasants and a nice woodcock. Two roe ran out of the stream wood followed by a fox. So that is another job i will have to sort out.
  18. And that is where you and i differ. Shotgun and firearms licensing does not benefit us as shooters one bit. It is supposedly for public safety and as such should be paid by the public out of general taxation. I remember when you went to the post office and bought a license and anyone could. Then the job was given to the police and they dished them out, no recording of what guns anyone had and no mass shootings etc!
  19. I am going to be buying another x10 from a bloke that has packed up shooting. He is the sort that has to have the best gear in whatever he does. I know for a fact that the scope hasn’t been used a dozen times and 4 of those where zeroing sessions. It has the kevgun mount and kevgun power pack, so I would be stupid to say no.
  20. You may well find it is ok on your side of the country as the East is generally a lot drier than the West. You are going to have to experiment with different I/r/s to see which suits your situation the best. Don’t just get an I/r go out foxing and expect everything to be good. Spend a few hours on different nights trying different things so that you know what to expect under certain circumstances. A bit of time spent practicing will give you knowledge about the product you are using and more importantly save you from falling out with it because it isn’t doing what you expected it to do out of
  21. Yes and there was a lot of faffing about with the i/r to get a suitable picture. I don't like having to mess about with the i/r or brightness settings etc when a fox is on the move ie: coming in quickly. What i have found is that all of the sub 1k scopes struggle with copious amounts of i/r which is what you need to reach out to the distances we tend to shoot foxes at. The reason i believe is because these scopes aren't intended for UK shooters shooting a small target (fox) at extended ranges. They are primarily designed for european and american pig shooters where as little amount of i/r as p
  22. The trouble with that though Stav is the antis will think it is because of pressure they have brought on and it will only encourage them. Also it is ok for us that are playing at it to have a season off but what about the bigger more formal shoots where lots of staff are employed? I can't see anyone wanting to pay them to do nothing for a year.
