  1. Good going R, he is deffo shaping up nicely. DnN
  2. I trained mine as gundogs first, then started them with the lurchers later. They are great for hunting any quarry, I had springers and cockers in the past, both did the job, close-range hunting / flushing, retrieving, marking, tracking etc Good luck DnN
  3. Should make some nice stock at least, if you can get hold of them lol
  4. Cheers HM, good luck with them.
  5. Not sure whats happening or when, but you dont need a passport for Ireland to/from UK at the moment, cant see the point of it changing.. Iv got my dogs passports for hunting in Europe, its cheap/easy enough to go there. Ive took em over to Canada as well with no hassle,.
  6. I would love one sent to an address in Aus... pm inbound. DnN
  7. Handy size for cover, great coats... ...hows the nose-work with them? DnN
  8. Do you honestly believe the food had anything to do with the height of pups lol yes i do,because out of the same dog and bitch the time before i feed them different dry food and they were all small Must have been pure poop you fed previous litter pal, I u understand a lack off goodness in a pups diet will hinder its growth, but to think gain made your pups bigger is madness, it's in the genes that the height is determined, trust me no kibble is as good as meat, dogs evolved to eat meat, try raising litter on meat next time and you'll end up way dogs a yard high at shoulder if your th
  9. I like. Credit to you Jack, they are wee toppers. All the best finding them the best homes. DnN
  10. Its not easy to breed a busher that wont go under... Ive had a few, of which my best by far was a cocker/terrier type. But her father, a pure cocker was dug to regularly belive it or not, he was a terrier at heart. Springers Ive owned did not go to ground, but I knew some that did. Safer with a bigger dog, but you still may have to trench 'em out time to time. Ive got a gwp here that marks keenly and tries to dig herself in, but so far has stayed on top. The old lurcher of mine was a bugger for getting lodged in holes too lol and he runs at 85lbs.
  11. I feed mine lots of game and venison, on the bone, with the usual offal ration, and some left overs from my dinners, as well as mackerel, and at this time of year I am getting sprats too... but even with this, I have found the dogs can loose condition if working daily which mine usually are. I know lots don't have their dogs out every day. I can keep my dogs in way better condition by additional fats, which I get free from butchers, just meaty/fatty off-cuts that they chuck away... works for me lol
  12. Ive lost more to sand than owt else, so voted for sand.. but had some real hard do's in the crags/rocks... a week on the hill getting a terrier back isn't the best, but getting 'em back alive is better than digging to a dead yin. All the best for the rest of the season lads, stay lucky DnN
  13. Any wounded game should be caught and dispatched asap... Not sure about england and wales, but scotland, it is definately legal, and in fact strongly recomended, that a dog should be to hand to follow up and catch or bay up any game that is wounded, or find game lost in cover.
  14. I cant imagine the type to lack heart... Im not one for a small lurcher myself due to location and game I hunt...but I sure like the type, and I dont hear many complaints from the owners of them. Some of which do a fair bit. Im sure most Bull/Grey owners will attest to the nose of their dogs... whats the nose, and hunt, like in the whippet blooded dogs? All the best DnN
  15. Aye, nice pics... A lot like the land I hunt. Cant beat the wild open hills for a good hunt. DnN
  16. I have 1 dog here, that needs a coat if out in the cold or on a cold night in kennels... even have a neoprene coat that I put on him if we are waiting about at a dig etc, but the most of my dogs are bloody hardy feckers, though I do spoil them if need be.
  17. Hope he works out for ya P, looks a nice sort, good feet..
  18. Nice to see that young thing shaping up Jim, been a while since I was on here.
  19. Evening Im looking for a triple terrier box, are there any makers in the North or Scotland, needed asap. Cheers DnN
  20. The video is total bull shit, but just for arguments sake Ive seen smaller dogs than whippet crosses swinging merrily from a boar, any beddy/whip would have done a lot better than the bus load of screaming girls that was there lol
