Anyway ... how was Micky Bubble? Lol

1st, what great time you had, the fishing looks spot on even though i dont fish, but fresh air , good company, and fresh fish to eat. 2nd  your not old and look in good nick to me, and great family . 3rd   music = them 2 bands are great deff , i like most type music  from 60s up to  say them bands above  etc, now i am old bugger  who 71 in august , yeh deff old to you and your clan, and even that big  bugger Gnasher   who dont like good bands . just bit of info for you regards music , ive started playing the Uke= ukulele being playing 10 months now , ok on it can play few songs from music sheets etc, but carnt play out of my head, can play chords no prob , but getting lyrics  out with right chord not easy, ask most people that play , and they the same , so  take hat to anybody that can get up on a stage that can do both. i ve just started the acoustic  guitar as well, had  6 lessons , doing not bad getting the chords now, it cracking guitar  6 string mid size , nice and light , just started playing (Get Back ) from the Beatles , my wife said it not bad, for 6 weeks , it harder than the Uke   4 strings  on a uke mine the Tenor one,  nearly the biggest  one, i had this one because ive got quite big hands/ fingers , so bit easier  to get the chords. if your kids like music , let read my tread on this post, they might want to play instrument  maybe later in life .   Ray:good:

  2. hope he does what you want sandy, they deff seem to have very snipe face= muzzle dont they, wonder if that maybe  bit of saluki in it genes going back, ok you get few greyhounds  like that, but most got stronger head on them i worked at racing kennels  for about 6 months , they had 50 greyhounds there , some of the males were big strong animals , with not bad size heads for  as greyhounds  go. so thats why i thought  maybe the snipey heads come from the saluki type dogs .?

I think they're very pricey over here too and b*****ds for fighting.

I thought about a staff but if it liked a scrap it would cause a lot of grief.

i know what you mean with a lurcher, your prob still  strong fit bloke, an be very tempted to jump over a wall with  a lamp lamp lol  i be just like you if i was younger and fitter, i am 71 in august , Buck be 11 in august as well, we both old buggers now. dont know how long he keep gong as  they say big dogs go down quicker than smaller dogs. so after he as gone maybe 18 months time etc, i have really had long old think  if to get another lurcher, like said i be to old for a young pup, but say 5 year old dog prob be spot on, not sure   what get at that age with a lurcher , long got bit of collie in the mix prob be ok, i have tought about other breeds, i am to old bull breeds , now and having had lurcher 36 years, prob bit lost with out i think. But i did like the Irish terrier , i did see one x back to whippet in the 80s cracking little dog , fast good coat, very loyal good guard dog, with dogs ok, but the bloke put lot  of time in to it, but he did say in pure form they could be a handful with other dogs , tough little dogs. How about a Airedale , now these are more easy than the Irish  with dogs,  no prob with coat if in the house , and very good guard dogs, but i did like that Irish x whippet

Devon Larratt would be totally unbeatable if he stayed within his own weight division but he keeps going after the giants.....the man has probably done more to promote the sport than anyone alive he's a decent man and a brilliant sportsman.

Thanks Gnash, good honest info on this sport, as you say it not just size and power to be good at this sport. ?

I'm looking into getting a dog at the minute for a family dog that can still be useful and not completely gay so been looking at labs and it's a minefield. I'm interested in other breeds but the fertility problems like labs.

Why not get nice mid size lurcher, there plenty in the rescues,  if don't want young pup, that's where I might go if ever get another lurcher after Buck gone.

Today I thought sod it, I’m having a 4 day weekend, now a 70 year old woman wanted her patio cleaning, was quoted £60, doesn’t have £60 but has a son and a neighbour capable of doing it for her, neither volunteered, so this morning I put the jet wash in the van, bought a gallon of the cheapest patio cleaner I could find and turned up and within an hour had it looking like new

home, had a shower and popped to the shop, on the way I seen 2 young lasses on the other side of the road with a flat tyre, one had the spare out, the other was holding the jack looking very confused, now a good 40 cars went past them and not one stopped, so I went down to the roundabout and back up to them, took me 2 minutes to put the spare on for them, I find it very hard to believe that nobody could of helped them in all them cars that had passed them

theres to many people about now that are only interested in what they can get for themselves and bugger everyone else, it boils my piss that people won’t help someone else just because they can and it’s a nice thing to do

    anyway, rant over

Now, cast your mind back to the 1st pandemic, we had. Remember, all the shops were running out of bread, bog roll, veg, food was getting  harder to get. Nurse came on telly crying, she been on night shift, wanted to get a loaf, and some bacon etc, couldn't get feck all. Look mate, it dog eat dog out there, even right now, I've said on here lot times, man, and woman, the worse animals that live on this planet fact, so Don't be surprised by how people behave deff, this is from 70 year old man, who met lot people in them years, and never been any real differnt?

Completely agree, they are not soft dogs. My collie lurcher was attacked by a lab at 6 months and now he goes for them, of course because they are a  common dog this can occur almost every day and people thinks he's a c...t. I've been bitten a few times by dogs but only two breeds...... border collies (both times trying to get permission ?) and labs. Borders sneaked around and got me in the calf but labs were more upfront about it.

That's very true that mate, I've done all thing in past going up to farms asking for permission, and the loose collies snarling / trying to bite you, this farm had big black gsd x collie thing on chain this animal deff bite you he was loose at night, you didn't poach his place lol. Right now with the hot weather the pet dog owners come out of the wood work with there ( untrained) feckin dogs, you either got to go early 7.30 am, or 7.30pm to miss these idiots. As said my big old dog 11 in august, he don't need agro at his age, but right now why still agile and strong, he could do alot of damage, but. I don't want it at my age either just want quite nice dog walk??

My big old lurcher dog was like Buck, would just wag his tail at other dogs, and was content to pish all over someones leg if they stood still long enough, anyway one day when an aggressive Dalmatian tried to have a go he tipped it straight on it's back then let him run away, woman owner didn't seem concerned at all when her dog was running growling at mine, her mask almost fell off when she seen her spoilt pooch get his bell rang

That's it mate, they all think it go when there dog acting  big bollocks, and aggresve, they feckin cry if dog stands up to them, turn it over. Told me wife about it, she said you don't want Buck fighting, said that's crap, these  type dogs have been  bossing him about for near 11 years,  he prob had enough, wife said yeh but Buck big strong animal even at his age, could do lot of damage if really started, you have to keep him on lead, I said yeh if been stuck on the lead, he might not fought back,  I watch him but if another of them bloody goes at him, well it's there own fault if wreaks it.!

  13. I  tell you what this breed, are deff not as friendly as people think, this is the 4th lab now attacked Buck , he never been dog aggressive , he dont want trouble with no dog , he old now 11 in august  , deff dont need it at his age. well it came from behind grabbed  him, and got him side head, well he shot around and knocked it back, he was up for it now, i was going to boot it, me right foot fooked worn cartilage  , so thought i need to boot it with me left foot best as i can, but Buck was 100% ready for this dog, i never seen him like this norm he wimpy , but ive always said if bitten a dog like does a fox ,  you have 90 lb with teeth  it them , he deff make a mess of any dog apart from well bred apbt. the woman was saying somthing didnt have me earing aid, dont where them on  these local walks, no point talking to them,  unless they have a lurcher . he old, but he shocked how quick he went back at this dog, i do know from beating days that the gun dogs i met were well behaved  the owners  would jump on then right away, it this fookin soft women types , dont know how to train a dog, to soft with them , should be on lead not loose, she be better off with a gold fish , not a dog  mind you some blokes are as daft with  them  pet dogs , these are  not working dogs .??

well only ever had 1 in my 70 years on this earth, was in think  1973 in Spain , me and my younger brother  were out on this peddle boats things in the seas, was about 1/2 mile out. we started to take turns diving from these boats things, anyway i not bad diver , my turn i ive dived in  but hit my chest as went in with sway of the boat, cut me chest , yeh  blood in water . well at the time Jaws had just come out lol, well as i was swimming back  to boat, he shouted shark , fook me there was shit and blood in water now haha  , i turned round and looked it was coming right at me, though i wont get up on boat quick enough . if on land at least you can try to run , get up tree, or fight , i prob go for last if i had to.   it  swam around me   came  in right by , it was dolphin   thank fook for that lol, it came by me foot for about 1 min   then swam off.  yeh in the sea  i always feel vulnerable  even though when younger  and fit, ok in water not bad at diving ,  but sharks would give me panic attack deff .

Sounds about right for a decent mastiff. My bandog bitch can be trusted with all dogs.Started hacking out with horses a 5years old.Can be trusted with all livestock or any pets I bring home. She even stayed at my pals for a few weeks last year whilst my girls dachshund had her pups and didnt bat an eye at his cat once I told her to leave it eve n though she is 8 and never been around a cat.But try and walk in my back garden withiut being invited or lay a hand on my daughter and see what happens.People dont realise that proper traditional mastiffs are a completely different animal to a lot of these new silly things that are being bred.

do you mean the old English mastiff   mate,?  there are very docile dogs them, same as bullmastiffs  , maybe the bullmastiff bit sharper  with dogs/ people. i know you like a well bred Neo . i think told you about a cane corso    about 18 months ago. a big black fookin thing, ok the bloke had it on a lead, but it was far to dangerous animal to be loose . i know you can deal big dogs, but this thing was about 27in   and easy  10 st, Buck 90lb this thing alot heavier . i t was going ape shit at Buck , stayed by me , he must have known that thing  killed him, i  tell you what it looked at me, thought christ dont loose that lead , i want to make 75  lol. it must be hell waking a dog like that out in public all the while, i glad old Buck big old softie really, i did have nasty kelipx collie x grey bitch that was enough  only 50lb  but strong with it, ok with me but nobody else , and deff not dogs, had to pts  in the end, had to keep picking her up, to stop her ripping the other dogs up , my pit bitch was more level head than that fookin nutter lol , ok once they kick off like our old line staffs, once the bloods up, but its in there genes aint it ."

No but he can tell you their height n weight ?

as you prob know  game bred apbt  , you deff know it weight / height, my pit bitch  was 20 in 58 lb, she  was reid  stuff , they be few game dogs in genes more than likely , she was just a pet really, as i like the breed. and as ive said few times on here, we had staffs when i was kid1962 , our staffs were more like some pits to day, as were old black country lines, they go 16-19 in 40lb- 50lb  tall leggy fit dogs, no good in a KC  show lol. and had Bull mastiffs ,  my male dog  won alot of shows in the 80s, he prob was one of your more healthy ones , big dog but kept him spot on  27in  145 lb , nice  head, and not to undershot  jaw. But as ive always  said the breed was very unhealthy   with HD , and bad elbows , and not long lived. It was one of the reasons i went into lurchers  in the 1st place, to get a healthy type dog, that had nice temps, and catch your dinner if need be .Old Buck  was deff , a dog i enjoyed to take out hunting, more so lamping, which  he was spot on for, fill me freezer , and kill few Charlie's  and that  big size he had deff come in handy some nights lol, he be my last working dog, my next dog in the future will only be a pet, and at my age thats all i need , nice ex worker etc.  got a couple of that pit bitch i had , our staffs were bit similar , bit smaller .

Then you got the opposite side of the spectrum a 20 year old lad check him out so are these guys just born with raw power or what?

Yeh, you Alex lad very good. I've watched him from few years now, he got bigger and stronger deff, not saying he beat the top 4-5  men at this sport, but give most a tough time. When I was younger  bloke say mid 30s, I was quite strong for my size  6ft 13 st back then, having done weights, and karate few years. Well one night, I went in a pub  not myLocal,  but  only used couple times. Well there was  lot. People in the bar, trying to beat this bloke  at arm wrestling, put a quid in the box, and have ago. Well like fool and sober lol, I had a go both hands, left hand he blast me, my weak hand, then I went right hand, I nearly had him down, twice, but he was good, he just held firm, then wallop down it went me hand. I had chat later I bought a pint, even though he mad few quid of the other people. He said I was quite strong for me size being tall slim, he was  smaller than me and stocky, strong thick srm/wrists, he said it strength /technique, and it deff is. Gnash should be on soon, he knows fair bit about the sport. ?

Having been around a good number of Pit Bulls many of them superb examples of the breed, ive never met one i would trust around children.....its an absolute nonsense in my mind to put such a sporting dog into a pet home as there are simply other dogs that are better equipped.....what does the APBT offer as a pet dog that other dogs cant do ?.....this is the problem breed enthusiasts such as myself have a hard time with.....people get a dog bred from fighting lineage, turn it into a sweet natured loving pet,and then call it a " good dog " when its never had a tooth in it....ok we live in different times now where the sport isnt acceptable,so leave them for people it is acceptable to and who are willing to make the necessary sacrifices and take the risks needed to TRULY be able to call their dog a " good dog "..........or as the saying says " the further away from the pit you take a fighting dog the more trouble you will have with them "...........and in my opinion the lower you take the standard of the breed in general.

No offence meant to you by the way sometimes you just have to take a strong stance on subjects close to the heart.

good  thought thread  Gnash on this post mate deff. As you know ive been around few bull breeds over the years , my last apbt  as that reid  big bitch that i had you seen the pic 20 in 58 lb.Now she from not bad stuff, not as they fast lane stuff, but ok. she was out side in kennel and run . we had staffs in the 60s that were more like pits today, 14-19in - 40- 50lb , my old man talk them for a walk, always on a lead, most time solo, he could walk 2 together , but said they both could fire each up if they seen another, and when they kicked off, they take lot of stopping , and these were not game bred stuff, just old workin lines , that not get in a KC  show . yeh pits, are  in general good with people , like staffs, but game bred bulldogs, or fit working old line staffs , to dangerous  animal if ever they kick off, not a house pet. i can under stand  Aussie whip , being stuck out in the sticks , wanting a guard type dog, to = 1st let you know , that somebody knocking about, 2nd to protect if need be.Well  a well bred gsd  or a dutch Shepard  , make great family dogs good with kids, very alert  to a any sound , and would die for you, get a 80lb male gsd  x dutch shepard , in the house, anybody  try to get in they deff bite them. and even though my 1x gsd x grey  daft with people/kids , hen young the power of him and his jaw power, he make right mess of anybody if bite them, like did wild animal, so pure gsd x dutch  , simlar size you need a gun to kill it , like been said or posion . but in the norm house type thing the inner citys  pits not a house pet !!

Look depends what u in to , Not trying to be insulting but there’s a difference between a digging dog and a bushing terrier. You can mix sand and cement with a shovel don’t make it a belle mixer does it . U wouldn’t let a pack of black dogs into cover to flush foxes . You’ll get lurcher that will go to ground in big place doesn’t mean u have a ‘digging lurcher’ horses for courses . Heavy dogs are what they are they aren’t an all rounder. Who in their right mind would let a game bred pitbull or a working Wheaton off loose for bushing and expect to be able to trust them..

just like today on my dog walk, it common ground, so you get lot of dog walkers use it.  i try to go out on it  after tea time 6-7pm , walk with my old big lurcher Buck , he had couple runs on there the odd fox, but most times nice  quite 1 hour walk . seen a bloke and woman walking towards me, they got dark brindle staff , and red/ tan color apbt = bulldog, i knew what it was , as i was brought with bull breeds,  and had them before. the dog was only young 10 month old, but pulling like feck on the lead , looking at my dog. the lad said it was mixed breed staff  , like feck it was lol. ok he got it on a lead , but i thought, wait till it switches on proper , they know way would walk one over that walk , i know what they like, maybe he thought , he wont get a pull with it  there , than round the towns. dont know what the law today owning them , think the law dda changed, when i had my last bitch out of reid  stuff  15 year ago.

Not defending them in any way but i wish the police would be that keen on sorting out the car thieves and house burglaries that's shot up in areas around me rather than put all the time and energy into catching dog lad's to the detriment of more serious crimes that's happening.

spot on, they know that dog men are a easy target , thats why mate , they aint got the balls  to tackle proper crime, same as when it kick off with the macho piss heads on Friday / sat night  , they might stop daft young birds having  go at each other, but  go to the blokes  10 mins after kicked off.  the  thing that, get my back up , is with the badger thing , just because  it cute type animal, like they think foxes are, they want to protect the fookin things, instead of  culling the things , most farmers dont want them on there ground. kill a brock you get up to 2 years in jail, smack the crap out of some body , or rape a woman , they get let off with mental health probs , and bit of detention   lol , laws a joke .
