  1. I find if the ground got a shoot on it or by it,they dont wont lurchers on theground. . You will find, the people who do the beating for the keeper get the ground. You have more chance on just farm ground, where there is stock. As some farmers like to keep the rabbits down were sheep+cattle graze. You should be ok for ferret'in, but not so with a lurcher. Even in this

day and age, there is still a [sTIGMA] to be the owner of a lurcher :censored: . All you can do is try

get the land owners trust, and maybe he might let you bring your dog on.

  2. Hi , i think few know me from other sites, i am Ray [56] old fecker :tongue2: got a wife and and a 21year old son. Had lurchers 25 years+, and still learning + keen as ever. Got a 1x collie grey [bryn] he 12months old, and he will make a good lurcher when he is older., should be good on fur+feather.

I live in Staffordshire, where most stuff is feckin Lamp Shy. :wallbash:

All the best , keep on hunting.

  3. try to get very easy runs. if you ferret then take the dog along, keep a few holes unnetted and keep him ready to slip, hopefully he will catch a few, keep the dog winning just as with a young terrier, good luck.

Spot on, try to keep it a winner, the more it catches the less it will yap. :victory:

Went out the other night. Had 4 runs, caught 2. So far he's caught 10 rabbits. I know its not alot but hes still only 12 months old and i think im getting there slowly but surely. Hes quite a big pup 24", 58lb the rabbits down my neck of the woods aren't easy, i'm trying to get him to learn to take squatters, plus he's not keen on retrieving. Ill keep working on him. :wallbash: All the best

  6. I know they are banned breeds so this one might not be mine :whistling: And she might have just had a liiter 2 weeks ago. Put your pics up boys I know these are popular.
I dont think anyone would say that that blue dog is a pitbull terrier. It may look like it has some bull in its makeup but then im sure when you bought it you bought as a mongrel Greyhound. Surely its pitbull that are illegal not mongrels that have simularities.

Its not what they look like, even a 1/4 is a strong gene, its what it puts in the dog tha counts.??

LOOKS dont catch+kill. [1/4,3/8,1/2,] its what you want the dog for that counts. :victory:

You completly missed the point. He was talking about pitbulls being banned and I was saying that he has no worry on that score for the reasons I pointed out.Try reading it again slowly or get someone to explain it to you.Maybe then you could make some useful comment........I wont hold my breath.

Not really mate, its all feckin Bull shit anyway, i pointed out what they had to a offer to a lurcher[useful comment] We all know they banned since 92, and thats a [useful comment] Bollocks.

    [ get a feckin life ]

  7. There is always going to be more bad than good like in most breeding these day some people just breed off shit for the fun of it.

But do really think bullx's are only any good on fox's? one trick pony as you say.

What do you think of there capability on deer? pre ban of course :whistling:

Just wondering as I have never owned one and am contimplating on getting one at the minute.

    Regards Ben

they are capable of taking deer, rabbits, hares even.... but theres plenty of other dogs out there that are better suited and probably a lot more capable when running these....

bull crosses were originally bred to put a bit of fire and power into a lurcher, but its no good having the power without the fire.... ;)

Spot on, i had 3/8 collie 5/8 grey dog 26ins 70lb in the 80s. He would tackle any Game , and if he got a nip, he would go feckin Crazy :wallbash: what ever you put him on a 90% chance he would catch it. Not a hare dog, but still had a few . I LIKE bullxs had two, but if you drop on a good colliex they take some beating. :victory:

  9. Thanks all, glad you enjoyed the story of our little clusterfuck... :icon_redface:

dogmandango-I did spend some time looking, but there is ALOT of ground they could have been in, so when I didnt find the source of the blood, I just loaded up.

Joe Kelly-When I am hunting with adult stags I never have a gun with me. I was hunting an expierienced lurcher bitch, an 8 mo old lurcher pup, and a yearling stag gyp that is new to the calling game (I have had her less than a month) It was a perfect chance to introduce the pup and gyp to the game, gunfire, and the whole calling routine.

Kye-Blister would sure give me the speed I needed. Im working on that problem... ;) I may have found a stud here that will work. A very intense kill dog, from a line of very fast dogs. He is VERY green, but I saw him on the second coyote he had ever seen, and he piled it up and went to work like a pro. Hope to see you out this way someday.

allgame-I hope I get a call every time out from now on...I got a call later that night also, and about 5 minutes later we had a race and caught another...LOL

    Take care.

A good read that, are the stags just line bred deerhoundxgreyhound's or is there anything else

them, and what size [height+weight] do they make.??? .They sound like great hunting dog's :victory:

  10. Here are some more with her old sparring partner Meg. This wee black bitch was only 23" but could mix it with any quarry.....the 2nd last one was a charlie she chased and caught and retreived across a burn...Meg was one of our own line and is the dam of keano's old dog Gripper, the last one shows the sire of our original line (Big black dog) the brindle is the brother of old meg. Shame they got to passs on

Well done, if you get a good colliex they take some beating big or small. ;);):clapper:
