  1. same here Dan, is there a big differnce in the two.??????????
  2. Great pics Dan, keep um coming mate. love them stags
  3. I THINK ITS MORE OF EXPERINCE, THAN BRAINS. Most lurchers take them out enough [day+night] soon pick it up. You need a bit of brain, a 1/4 from collie's, or other breeds is plenty enough.?? The sences = from most lurchers [nose, sight, chase, kill,] is [instinct], just that bit of brain helps thats all, maybe to retrieve and a bit eaiser to train.??
  4. spot on ,i was brought up with [heinz 57's]mongrel's], and you did get few [snap] at you now+then. But a kick up the arse, and they would piss off out of the way. Then we had staffs, big strong dogs [18-19in 45-55lb]more like pits of today this was in the [60's]. There temps [staffs] were spot on, great with people and ok with other dogs if not challenged.?But [if] they did kick off ,they could do massive damage. So yes it is the breed, and you carnt get away from it.?? There are alot of other breeds out there with [real] bad temps, and bite far more than bull types+rotties ever do. We had bullma
  5. Dogs for me, you can get good bitchs, but they can come in heat right in the hunting season .plus dogs temp suit me better.
  6. Yep bullxs, if you only get a few foxes maybe one a week, most lurcherxs will do that. But if alot more the right type bullx ,will do a better job [ie.. handle's more pain]and more powerful jaw.
  7. Another waste of humane life, for a feckin dog. kids and dogs [dont] mix. It dont matter what the breed,
  8. Well done Bill, a tally [213] with the right dogs Brill,But it comes down to [GROUND].Some places like where you live, you will get big Bags. Ive had to travel this season to get better bags, and once you seen+done it, you know it comes down to ground fact. Ok you need a good dog, but the more they catch the better they get. Numbers game [GROUND].??
  9. Well having had a few xs in the last 25 years,=bullxs, colliexs, bitzas, none ped whippet. As i hunt for the pot fur+feather, and the odd red coat. I would say colliexgreyx salukixgrey, with a bit of luck still got the brain with speed+stamina if it came out right.??. Got a 1x colliexgrey now, good rabbit dog. But i think the other x , might make a [better] alrounder.??
  10. Thats the last thing i would do.?? All thats happens is you excite your pup, with whats going on, and that the last thing you want.?? Get out just you and your pup, and 12 months old is about right. Just pick a few easy rabbits if you can, it will miss a few but its no big deal. The 1st season= learning the ropes, 2nd= season getting no the crack,3rd season= lamping dog.

    GENES

Thats what i was told as well, dont know if its right.??
  12. Jim +shave, went on shave permission and flushed a nice deer to his gun. Then waited till about 6pm to lamp a few rabbits. Both dogs snipe+molly were catching well, snipe caught a rabbit by a fur-tree,and one of the pines must have struck his face as he picked the rabbit up.Jim thought he herd him make little noise, but when he saw it .At to stop there and then, and get him back to his vet as soon possible. Get well soon old Snipe, great old dog like that should soon be back at them rabbits A few pics old soldier.
  13. You say he and she in your post if its a bitch i think it will 19tts tops and will not have the fast pace a well bred whippet at the same size has so you will have to choose your runs for it as that type of dog will not benefit long slips on rabbits that are up and running [bANNED TEXT] you switch the lamp on.atb dell Spot on. Regards size for lamping rabbits, it will catch a few. But a bigger dog [24-25in] will always have the advantage over a smaller dog [seeing squaters, turning rabbits in high stubble,............ . Yes it can do it, but[not] as good as the bigger dog.
  14. Good bag that, what % bull, whippet, greyhound, are they.??
  15. Was a great night, weather was spot on. Doga's little bitch caught a few,she will get [better] next season ,she [still] only [12] months olb.?? Bryn is a [great] lamping dog for rabbits, not so good on bigger rabbits, but he was bred as rabbit dog and that what he is good at. Thanks jim for the invite, a good night with good lads

    idiot

its very hard to [defend] bull type dogs, when you see this thing. Its ok saying its not the dogs fault, but even in the right hands these dogs can kick off any time with out warning. Ive had powerful dogs like this over the years, and they will always get in the wrong hands. The wrong type of people are breeding them just for [money] and will sell to any fecker fact.?? And thats why the breed is[ finished+banned]. When dogs like this were made+bred, they [never] went to joe-public, and thats where it all went wrong.fact.??
  17. its got a white ring round its neck mate think they call them dutchys,it was a big heavy on too plenty of dog food on it lofti. nice bag that, it sound as it is starting [click]. keep at'um

  19. Another good night , dogs had to work hard on some of the rabbits, long slips and some of the ground was heavy going.Doga's young bitch caught well towards the end of the night. She should make a [good]lamping dog next season. Bryn done well had [44] rabbits in a week ,hope he can keep it up Glad you like my [choice] of hunting clothes [Earthy]i might start a new [hunting catalogue] next season, and you can have one at 1/2 price.
