very true  WILF , but as ex smoker mate, this fookin thing  really needs a big push to try stop the young kids starting dirty habit . i know you say mate all ex smokers are the same once they quit , maybe true .But let tell you i started at 15 - 30 years old , roughly  10- 15 fags a day , stopped when i got married a 30 years , took 3 attempts , but done it , and never smoked since  37 years ago. Nowthis is the shocker you think after that time my lungs be good, ok better than smokers , but there still fooken scared mate , that damage there for life , it prob get me in the end, i am 72  in august   ,  hope i can get few more years out these old bones  lol

Personally I think one man's allrounder is different to another man's allrounder. Also as time goes by you maybe go for different methods and different species. It's no one trick pony

fair enough, with any type bred lurchers, you can push your self in to a corner  with  breeds, and % deff. Going only on my own dogs and dogs ive seen work.3 of my colliexs thats, 1x , and 3/8 c  5/8 g  all good rabbiting dogs,  not really deer dogs, or fox dogs  had 3/8 blaze do couple but was wary of the sharp end , the odd hare in the lamp, now that my dogs,. now had mate had Hancock  1/4 beadie x 1/4 collie x 3/4 grey , catch few daytime hares, do couple deer , and few foxes , was bib 27 in fawn rough coated dog. Now my Buck 1x gsd x grey  was far better in the lamp than my colliexs , had far more quarry  in the lamp , he bust gut to grab them , he grab fox anywhere , got nailed , but kill the fox, then couple bites,  had few hares as well, this is just lamping , as he was bred for that, he put few bends in to  day hare, but i left that dogs bred for that simple as that. So your right  breeding/ %    can go out the window with the right dog, plus a ton of luck    deff.

O'Sullivan seems to be going the way of trash talk to bolster coverage, maybe for the sake of the game but all seems a bit the same in sport , media coverage and drama forsakes the sport...

yeh, but O'Sullivan  is the best ever thats played this game no doubt about it, and he knows by the reaction  of any crowd  where he plays, thats he very well liked as player fact. But as a man, i not keen on him, but like been said he deff keeps the game afloat, just like Ali did in the 60s - 80s in the boxing , most people back then, didn't this trash talk he came out with more so this white/ black stuff etc. But he was best , and same as O'Sullivan  , you love his magic  he brings to the game  deff, even if you want to see him beat . lol         ps  no  help on my post  then .?

  5.  seen 4 vids to day on social - media , with very young pups been dumped, that either  left by the roadside , or in the street in old box, now this 4 different pups  , one at a time  . Now it  either  the breeder  put them, hoping it tug at your apron strings etc, or there some cruel sad fookers out there  dumping them , if they didn't want them , should hand them in to pound, at least they die quick , not freezing  death slowly  .☹️

We've got too much dead wood comes to the surface for cup games and tends to show just how much we rely on Bowen.....im still yet to meet a fan who knows what Danny Ings actually does at the club apart from make players laugh in the dressing room.....Moyse has proved he can get a game out of players but the likes of Cresswell,Benrahma,Ings and a few others are just past motivating in my opinion.

Bristol City centre doesnt get any better does it all round that Cabot Circus is like a f****n homing beacon for the mentally challenged far left is there any " normies " in Bristol anymore....saddest part of all is its mostly all white people as well !

Recon they're a bit late for it to become an all round good Mastiff, might suit someone.

I'd have another Mastiff one day, great dogs if you get it right.

they deff are dangerous dog in the wrong hands ,  about 15 months there was bloke who had one big black male, not docked ears or tail, but like been said huge head, prpb as tall as Buck 28in, but easy  11 st= 150lb , this  fookin thing dwarfed   Buck. he had on a lead, i was walking past him,  and i was really nervous of it, it would have killed Buck or me no prob . the bloke said that he never have a males in that breed, said have bitch next time easier to live with , i could see that. now not seen it for long while, but you get lot of idiots who , will always have there dogs loose, and the worst are lab owners, it wouldn't surprise me, if one of there feckin labs had ran up to it, and that thing nailed it, prob  serve them feckin right . yeh deff not a pet type dog, need serious dog owner  deff .

He reminds me of a dog one time I was walking up a footpath through a Cheviot farmyard from a distance there was a booming bark, thought it was a rottweiler, when I got to the farm a smooth coated tri colour collie was up at the mesh, looked a hell of a dog

like what Aussie Whip  says, the acd are  a top guard dog, the kelpie  seem to be more of the alround  cattle/ sheep dogs, but lot farmers had couple loose on there stations farms as guard dogs , so acd x collie or back to kelpie be great guard,   any herding type x make great guards , ive always said one of the best guard dogs i ever seen was big black gsd x  collie , on chain in the day, but at night loose, you didnt poach his ground  lol, that fooker would rip you to pieces , 75lb  teeth  on you , you have to shoot 1st.

That’s what I was thinking, the only thing  he’s changed is put a pure greyhound in to freshen the blood and that then opens the door to start folding all his own dogs in again.
It seems to have done some high class day walkers no harm at all in the past. I’d sooner use a pure to freshen blood than a lurcher that may unknowingly have for instance saluki blood or whippet blood in it, nothing against either breeds but by using a pure greyhound you’re at the very least eliminating any what ifs.

Joe knows score with his dogs, he bred long enough to know what works and what don't. Same as  Trunk on here breeds collie x pit greys line bred, use what ticking the boxes on his fox control in Ireland. Iam on a Oz site, where bloke working pit x grey x mastiffx greys, types.  He go back to pure greys, when want bit more speed, he plenty power grit. He works wild pigs, foxes, and rabbits, when get dogs fit. It great read, and what his dogs can do,  it fookin rough at times, he lost few dogs on boars. He did have some  good game bred pits, that he used in the past, and some real fit looking English mastiffs, not like our show crap mastiffs, yeh the bloke dogs  are top notch. 👍

Rabbit number local to me have been dropping for years you get the odd pocket that holds a good number trouble is if people sniff out a decent rabbits population they hit them hard all year round then as time goes on they wonder why there not there when I was younger I was out more times then on was in never took big numbers but I used to always take a few but some people just take it to a next level almost wiping populations out fair enough is you have to do it but think once there gone the farmer don't need you there,me personally I go where I won't so it doesn't bother me much but to some people it's gonna take a toll

well said, where i lived before  by weston park, rabbits numbers were low, had to travel  to get good bags .But funny really that after a full season lamping with bryn i had back then, ok was getting  mid 30s few nights ,  was getting back  to my place next morning 6am  after 4 hours of driving , started fed up with it doing all season. Had Buck who  was bred for deer / foxes really , but i did get 38 rabbits with him one night, which i think was great for a big dog  like him. i was like you going anywhere , but getting chased most nights , ok when you can run , but fookin hard as you get older , bloody hell had some close calls when out with big Buck cops/ farmers    after  you   , got away with it thank feck    lol

There all shit mate, only usyk his the best of the bunch. OK. People say he to small, but at 6ft 3in and 15st 10lb, same size as Ali at his best, he was class as cruiser, and he stepped up to this division quite good I think. But if him fury do fight in Feb, I think fury win, only because he use his extra 6in,  3 St heavier, fury try drain him down, and finish him end of the fight. But if usyk can get in close early rounds, he stop fury. But the fight got to happen yet lol.

the bridge  is 6 on left side hip to buttock , and same  on the other side  repeat.

funny thing you say that mate , as i get few in my garden   , next door got horses and few alpacas knocking about, so rats are always knocking about . when i loose little woody out at night ,  he right to the fence he deff knows where they get in , i left him out with Buck the one night for 20 mins  and they were both going round the garden like whippets haha , not sure if a cat or maybe fox might have been on there, it would have to get out real quick with Buck in there , as he kill it if found it.

The going out of sight thing is surely only going to work with a dog you have a bond with......doubt you have that with a 15 mth old....never used one myself but heard a lot of people praise the electric collars for such situations.

thats what i wrote Gnash  ( bond) you spot on mate, 15 month old it going into teen thing . electric collars can be good if used sensible ,  i used do lot of beating as younger bloke, and ive seen them missed used on gundogs , and i seen big lab just fook off from the shoot, the bloke was twat how he used it, i nearly kicked  knackers through his head for him, he told me keep it shut, i said you want to hope the A/E not shut , because thats where you be going next . the keeper  moved me away from him, because he was paid gun , and keeper  didnt want to upset  people who pay his wages , ok but the bloke was twat deff. ok done right , but lot of sighthounds / lurchers, have sensitive temps anyway , the only time i use one if a dog   no good with sheep, ok try then , but as i say from a pup  you sort that out very quick from 9 week-  14 weeks old.

    Afternoon,

I'm at my wits end here and wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation.

I bought a pup at 14/15 months old green as grass and in my opinion very immature.

I've been in the game long enough to know there's more chancers than genuinely people selling dogs especially early on in the season but the dog was exactly what I wanted and a reasonable price........bedlington x greyhound.

I have been working tirelessly on recall for the last three weeks absolutely perfect on a long line perfect in the garden but give the little shit that tiny bit of trust let him go he just flicks the middle finger ad will not come back to the point I've actually just started walking away.

I've never come across this much of a problem before but I haven't owned anything with bedlington in it.

Can anyone offer any advice or maby a method I'm overlooking as I'm really running out of patience.

    Many thanks

right,  2 things to look at here = age, breeding . 1st the age, it best to get any dog from 9 weeks old , build up the bond , and put few  little rules in , ok  all pups will try it on, but it will mold around  in 6 . 10 weeks   with repetitive  training , but nice and easy  with it . 2nd breeding , beddy xs  , now i know lots of people on here get on with this type x, ok no pob with that but for me . i had one years ago , it was beddy x whippet x grey  gen bred. it was the worst lurcher i ever had, no re call , very hard mouth  on anything , i had it 2 years  pts in the end, it had ( hard pad) it feet bled and open wounds, vet said it never get right , so pts , but was a massive lesson for me, as you got to get something  you get on with , it not got to be world beater , just good honest dog  tha gives 100% , and wants to please you , i  got on better with my pit x greys , than that beddyx fooker lol . so i found herding types suite  me lot better, dont get wrong they got  sensitive temps , that over the years have pissd me off, but i know what choose  1st, from them xs  . i suppose  mate, if you want a dog to be up and running at them, well you prob done right with its age, but with any young lurcher at that age its gamble  if works out for you and the dog, thats why the rescue kennels of full of them, more so now xmas ."

true , nice line bred bullx grey x collie x grey , that catch rabbits , and anything that jumps up in front of it, it was a type x i wanted  16 years  ago , but back then , but not many bred that way back then, but you see lot more about today .
