  1. hi all i have considered thinking about making some pegged snares but dont know where to start i know about wire and thickness as oldtrap collector has helped me about that but i dont know where to start with them i know how to make a basic fixed fence snare but dont know how to make pegged as i am needing to make some for near burrows and help would be greatly appreciated thanks huntingkid

  4. its 3mm brass wire but my uncle works building industry and is bringing over 1000 meters of stainless steel what sort of lenght for that mate thanks for the help Is it multi-stranded or cabled brass wire or single ply? Are you sure it is brass and not copper? Steel cable has limited use for rabbit snare making - it is virtually unbreakable but doesn't set or act the same as brass. OTC its singly ply 3mm brass wire [bANNED TEXT] seems canny like thanks for the info is it still ok to use stainless steel or would you stay away from it?

  8. i ordered 100 brand new snares yesterday but the order go rejected for some reason so i would like to know what mm brass wire should i buy to catch rabbits for winter as iv heard u have to use thicker wire for winter is this true?

Copper wire is far to soft and breaks far to easily to be any good for snaring......you should be using good quality BRASS wire to do the job properly (not the cheap picture framing stuff either) Rolfe. where can i get brass wire from but i dont want to pay too much if u no what i mean i use fixed fenced snares are they any good or not if so what should i be aiming for?
  12. hi all iv just started snaring and its easy but effective i am having a problem at the min i use coper wire that is quite strong and does the job but somtimes when i go and chech them next morning some of them have snapped any ideas what off im quite confused???
  13. he is doing fine now iv had a whole solid week and a half training plus spent money going to behaviour lessons to sort him out he is excellent with the niece now she can pull on at him and everything he dosnt growl, bite, or anything now hes excellent off the lead aswell and was introduced to ferrets the other day but hes still abit funny with ferrets he thinks there to catch lol but i now have to put dog up for sale due to work commitment i have found a job working as a apprentice butcher and with times been hard you have to take what is going im puting him up for £50 due to keep time waiste
  14. he is around 20 tts and he was the dog that was up about 1 week and a half ago had him to behaviour lessons to find out why he was showing his teeth it was because he was in new surroundings nothing else but i have now managed to get a job being an apprentice butcher as times are hard to find jobs i have to take this oppertunity
  15. dog for sale he is now house trained and has been to behavioural lessons needs to be sold due to work commitments would love to keep him but cant dont want to see this dog go but have to he is 7 months old sire bullgrey dam bullwhipp grey excellent with other dogs and ok with ferrets but has to be watched he is ok off lead and is excellent on lead asking for £50 ono chers huntingkid

  18. im going to give the dog one last chance as he has started to calm down and is now acting like a puppy i think it may have been stress or sumit moving to diffrent surrounds will keep every1 informed on how he is doing cheers for the replies everyone
  19. hi all i am wanting to go beating for the first time if anyone no's anywere that wants a beater i would grately appreciate it i live in the north east area near newcastle gateshead area im 17 and cant drive yet but could use transportation thanks a lot huntingkid
  20. i think that is disgrasefull i think they have just picked him because he was old taking advantage of him they need to be sacked if they work for the council if they dont i think someone needs to sort them out

  22. well said he dosnt growl just shows his teeth when he gets wrong but he has started to calm down so hopefully this dog will go to the right person an experience handler that has other dogs the dogs should put him in his place if im correct as they will act like a pact i think
  23. dog has calmed down a bit as i got a muzzle and put it on him for a bit and he didnt lyk it and has stoped showing his teeth to my niece so he should be ok i think it has been generally fright so fingers crossed he will be ok with other dogs as they should put him in his place
  24. dog has now gone to experienced owner is getting collected on tuesday
  25. 3 years old so couldnt go out with dog too small and that could be why
