Miroku MK38 grade 1 sporter steel shot proof?
SportingShooter replied to rondo's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
The marks there are exactly the same as on my gun so, no they are not Specifically proofed for steel shot. But they will be able to fire the Cartridges that you have as they are "Standard" steel and so can be fired in any gun which is in proof for the chamber length on the box, normally 2 3/4" They only thing I can think of to explain the Chips in the barrel is that the previous owner must have very seriously neglected it and the barrels have become pitted. To pit a Chrome barreled gun and one which is not that old is quite hard. The Gunshop owner should have put a rod through it -
Miroku MK38 grade 1 sporter steel shot proof?
SportingShooter replied to rondo's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
If you can take some close up pictures of the proof marks then I can tell you if it is actually Steel Proofed , you can post them on here or PM me whichever you prefer. I have an MK38 Trap Gr 1 and it hasn't got the Fleur de Lis either. However, the cartridges which you are using are suitable for ALL modern proofed 2 3/4" guns and No-way should there be any marks or chips in the barrel. How long have you had the gun? And how long between cleanings did you leave it? The "Special Steel" marks are just he material the barrels are made from. The ShopKeeper, if the gun turns out -
OK then put it another way. Foxes. What is to stop the Anti brigade taking pictures from this site of dead foxes where the picture contains no method of how it was killed. I never post pictures of foxes without a rifle in the picture. But there are an awful lot that do. The words in the thread to explain the picture will be tossed aside. At least in this picture there is a Rifle in the picture, a legal method of despatch. If he was satisfied that it was a legal shot, and FD is a very very experienced shot, then I can't see the problem if you consider the other dead animal

The problem of Cats entering your property and domestic Cats in general is a very very grey area in law and a thorny one as you can imagine. The law states that a domestic cat is property i.e. it is owned and there is someone responsible for it. So from what I can see, you have informed the owner that there may be possible damage to her "property" and if she decides to take no action then that is her concern not yours. It is the same sort of issue where the killing of cats is involved. You are permitted to kill Feral Cats say if they are killing chickens or Game birds, but what de

I dare say I might pop off a few Crows! -
Thanks Kay. Reminded me of the bit of Britain which we all see every time we are out and yet it is forgotten by most.

I found this on YouTube when I was browsing and it reminded me that despite all the doom and gloom we have here at the moment. We still have some things which we should be proud of and treasure. name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>"> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>" type="applica

Well, The first of the Game seasons if very fast approaching. Is anyone here lucky enough to be shooting the humble but pricey Red Grouse? I doubt I will be at all this year but I enjoy it immensely when I do. Regards SS

best budget rifles for fox and rabbit.
SportingShooter replied to greylag's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Depending on the range of the Rabbits then either the HMR or the .22 LR. It is, of course, possible to have them both and this is now quite common. This is perhaps the most versatile idea. The .22 LR is really the bread and butter Rabbit round. Most commonly used for out to about 75 yards but of course it can and will shoot a fair bit further. The .17 HMR will easily despatch a Rabbit at 200 if you can see and hit them that is. The HMR will make a mess of a Rabbit unless it is Head shot. As for foxes, You have a number of calibres you can choose from. They include, th -
Looks like you and the Dogs both had a good Time. Nice to see you cooking some of what you catch too, and why not, its as fresh as you can get. Glad you enjoyed. Regards SS

Everything Goes up, Beretta's normally increase a bit year on year. Look on the GMK website and see.

Well, I already have a .17 HMR, a CZ Varmint 16", so I wouldn't necessarily need another Barrel. But who knows. I thought that to be the case. I have held the Quad on a few occasions and I didn't think it was that bad. I have never owned a Synthetic stocked gun but I quite liked the Sako must admit. I have a CZ with a wooden stock and the stock is first class, trigger was crap without the Brookes Kit, but it is a nice rifle. I just fancied something different. Thats good to know, I have only handled the normal ones so far, I'll keep my eye out, thanks. Well,

It is £60 for Coterminous Certificates and even if you have a current SGC or FAC but want both to be 'Coterminous' then you can still do so. It basically means that the remaining time on the Certificate you have already will be cancelled and a new 5 year one issued. E.g. You have an SGC with 2 years left to run. You want to apply for your FAC. You can at this stage ask for Coterminous Certificates. You will need to fill out an SGC and FAC application form and post them off together asking for a Coterminous Cert. And if successful you will have a new 5 year SGC and a new grant FAC. But

Great shooting there Lads, the little .22 comes in top for just that sort of job. Glad you enjoyed yourselves and the bag is a very good size for one nights work. Keep at em. Regards SS

Excellent Name and Dixy. You'll get better don't you worry, soon as your paperwork comes through you will have the excuse to buy a gun and start practicing. We all miss and we all missed when we were learning to shoot, its all part of the curve. Is that a .410 or 12 Hushpower? Well, all parties seemed to be pleased and the people you were shooting for. Good Stuff, Keep it up. And keep the write ups coming. Regards SS

Seen as you are fairly close to me. I'll give one of my Local dealers a ring and see what he has there. He has some of the more obscure guns there. He helped a friend out a few months back who was after a Flare Gun, which is not too popular an addition to an FAC. He was about to pay about £300 for one when I rang him and asked him to get in touch with this dealer. £50!!! for it and 10 1" Flares. Can't be bad. I'll PM you when I find out Regards SS

My Tipple of choice if I'm out is Jack Daniels, with a few cubes of ice and a dash of Pepsi(Not Coke, prefer Pepsi). A quiet drink in the house, then it is more often than not a Local Cider. SS

FAC,s , Depression and Appeals
SportingShooter replied to sean's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Lets be honest, who hasn't had some form of depression from time to time, be it declared or not. Excellent News Sean, common sense has prevailed in your case and I hope it does in many others. Enjoy working with your new tools. Regards SS
