  1. A very nice young lad. He is taking everything in and learning his skills as he should, safely and thoroughly, keep up the good work. SS

  2. No, she put the cider inside the mixer with Ice Water to get a Make Shift cooler. Cant be having Warm Cider. :clapper: :clapper:
  3. I went to our Marsh the other day just out of curiosity and was quite surprised to see Teal about down there. I dont normally see them for about another Fortnight and there were plenty of them too. There are always Mallard about here as there is a Wetlands Trust centre on the opposite side on the estuary. No Geese as yet and I didn't see any Wigeon but normally they arrive with us about a month after the Teal in any number. I'll keep you posted, Regards SS
  4. Another Welshman on here the more the better. A true Gent this man, great to chat to and a good laugh to boot. Keep at it Pal.

  5. I cleaned mine after about 500 HMR rounds and it was filthy then. But I tried the cola trick and then finished it off with a spraying of Carbeuretta cleaner to soften anything remaining. It wiped off easily after being left to soak for a few hours and with a old rag. Regards SS
  6. There are Pro's and Con's of both, depending on so many different factors. There is no point whatsoever in tearing the respected differences in Fieldsports to shreds. ;) Its just not Cricket. Regards SS
  7. A very talented and very funny guy, RIP.
  8. Excellent Stuff FH, My personal record for a single night is five and they don't come along all that often so grab them when you can, fox control is fickle as you well know. A superb write up too, illustrated 'an all. Good Shooting and keep it up. Regards SS
  9. Thanks Gav, I enjoyed that. Its good to see the Mink problem up there is being taking so seriously, wish it was here. As the article says they are voracious killers and will stop at nothing, and think nothing of killing hundreds or thousands of the many rare and breeding birds up there. Thanks again Gav, good of you to inform us. Regards SS
  10. Enjoy your day Woodga, Start counting backwards now Enjoy
  11. If you advertised it for £125 and got about £100 eventually, you would be doing well
  12. Me to Bill. Credit where credit is due, it has been a truly spectacular show so far. And it still has three hours to go. Watch it People. One of the better ones you will see.
  13. Mr Logic is the man to speak to about the RWS. If they make your certificate open then all of your rifles will be made open. And seen as you have applied for Deer then it is more than likely that yours would have been opened out anyway. The experience with the smaller calibres only goes in favour. As for scopes. I would always prefer a variable. Something like 3-12x50 would be ample and a Leupold in that sort of spec will do you well. Regards SS
  14. A 12 bore for the big ones But I use Boot's own insect repellent spray, Does the job for me and some of the Horseflies we have here are vicious Basta**s. Regards SS
  15. I have no idea. I am a pure shooter and have never even seen a Dog course anything. And I manage perfectly well with my pest control without one so I shant be justifying Shooting over Dogs. We shouldn't have too. Each to their own. I wouldn't ask a Dogman to justify his dog over a gun. Rant over! Regards SS
  16. Congratulations to you both and I hope you have a fantastic day. You dont need the full works to make it an extra special day, I'm sure you'll enjoy every minute of it. Shouldn't you be getting dressed by now Regards SS
  17. If you want some SJ, let me know, next batch is yours. And I suppose I could dress them for ya
  18. Unfortunately you are correct in many respects, they do seem to be asking for the DSC to be completed before they will grant you Deer on your FAC. But they have also been asked to accept "Informal Training" as a good enough reason for a Deer rifle, i.e a mentor, by the Home Office' Firearms Liason Committee. This has happened with at least one member on here instead of him having to do the DSC. If you have someone in mind then all the better. If not then you may struggle if you cant do the DSC. There are far more experienced Deer Boys on here than me though. Regards SS
  19. How Do Gastronomes! I've been shooting pigeons for the last few weeks now and I must say I'm tired of having them pan fried or in a pie of somekind. Does anyone out there have a new or different recipe which I can try and save me from getting bored of a food which I genuinely like Regards SS
  20. Honestly, it will be extremely unlikely to be anything to do with the cartridges. Try this tip to remove the plastic(if it is plastic) Buy a can of Carbeuretta Cleaner, 151 brand I use. Roll up a sheet of kitchen towel and stuff one piece in each barrel at the breach end. Spray a liberal amount of the cleaner down the muzzles of each barrel and leave it to soak for 24 hours. Push the kitchen roll down with a rod, inspect and if there is plastic the majority will be gone. If some remain, push a bronze brush up and down the barrels several times and then re-spray and push som
