  1. Sounds Delicious. I am still waiting to see a single Wild Mushroom. If I see one at all Wild Mushrooms, Smoked Bacon and Lavabread. Mmmmm.................... SS
  2. Ah!! Do you know anyone with Night Vision Purely with the lamp, I cant think of any other method of not scaring them other than using a Red Filter. However, I have heard that the Amber filter is a good one to Try, might be a few quid well spent. Regards SS P.S. I Didn't doubt that you identified your quarry, just that , and as you and I know, the Red filter is not the easiest to identify quarry in
  3. Nice shooting Timelord, I cant agree more that a good Magpie is a Dead one. I have my Air Rifle here purely for knocking them off in the garden. I have a fir tree which they love to sit in, but unfortunately for them, it happens to be 35 yards from my Back door. Unlucky But as you say, they are cunning. I have a trick for making mine stay just a second longer. Get some bait (Eggs) wrap them in cling film so he is curious he cannot get at them. Great if you are sitting and waiting. But you need to take it down afterwards or you could choke something else. I normally shoot th
  4. With the Lamp, I have found that the Red filter is the best idea for those that are really lampshy. However, with a red filter, you can normally only see eyes, you need to be able to make out the animal clearly before you fire. Hope this helps. Regards SS P.S. What lamp are you using?
  5. Well that inspires confidence as the Web Link says Three inches.
  6. Good good, May meet you this season then. I've PM'd you by the way Regards SS
  7. With a 60 Yard zero, you can get 100 yarders easily and with practice it will become muscle memory. Good Choice and I hope you get the .223 Regards SS
  8. I cant help on the age limits as they are so up in the air at the moment. But I know that the legal maximum for carrying a knife without a good "Excuse" is a 3" blade which is capable of permanently folding. You can of course carry one for a purpose, i.e Hunting, shooting, work etc. But you would not have an excuse if you were found carrying one three days after your last hunting trip. Regards SS
  9. If you have the HMR down on your Certificate for Vermin then you can shoot fox. No Licensing Department will stop you. They know the conditions are so so vague they would never win.
  10. I bet your chomping at the Bit, and making holes in the carpet. Best of luck to you and your Daughter, I hope all goes well and all goes to plan. No doubt it will be the most unusual time, just as your about to go in the bath, or about to eat your Dinner. Oh well, He or She will no doubt be worth every second of the long wait. Good Luck one and all. Regards SS
  11. Indeed, my side is from Penclawdd looking across to the Penclacwydd Wetlands Centre and along the Burry inlet. Which side are you on? Finally, someone else from Swansea Regards SS
  12. In my experience, having shot a few foxes with my HMR using Winchester Supreme Ballistic Tips, there is no considerable fur damage on the animal. The bullets is so small that the entry wound is incredibly hard to find and the bullet will not exit the other side. (With Ballistic Tips). I have only shot one fox in the chest cavity with my HMR, the rest have all been headshots, between the eye and the ear. The range that the Chest fox was shot was 60 yards, the others range from 40 to 90 yards. If your friend is trying to keep the fur in good order, would Head shots not be a better choi
  13. Or indeed the .17 Rem Mag, the .17 Fireball, .220 Swift, etc etc etc There are hundreds.
  14. :clapper: :clapper:
  15. I would say the same, if you can afford two Rifles then, I would go for the .22 LR and the .223. They are both perfectly capable, time proven rounds, indeed, the .223(5.56mm) is, in a slightly different form, what you are shooting out of your SA-. And the .22LR has killed more Rabbits and other vermin than is imaginable, the figure must be in the Billions. You could always go for other calibres for fox such as the .22-250, .222, .22 Hornet or .243 but the .223 is used by so many fox shooters, there must be something good about it! If you are really stuck for one rifle, then depend
  16. A very good person to chat to and genuine in all that she says. Brightens things up in that room sometimes when its a bit grim and joins in with everyone. Nice on Sue.

    RIP

Saddened to hear that Kay. They become a part of each day. Hard to lose them after such a long time. Rest in Peace. Regards SS
  18. They are looking really good now Tracey. Plenty of accommodation for Dogs and others How much did you say the rent was a Month? Seriously, Well done to you all, I know a lot of time and effort has been put into them. Hope the Canines like 'em. Regards SS
  19. Yes, they will be fine as long as the barrels are in good order. Good Luck SS
  20. Good Shooting CBW. If only there was such a simple cure to some of the other things in Life. Shooting cures a lot for me, If I have hayfever when out working. Fire a gun at a passing Crow and it magically all goes away. Amazing One less Grey to be hanging around too. Regards SS
  21. Unless it has the Fleur de Lis marks for high performance 2 3/4" steel then you should only use standard steel. Any 2 3/4" gun can take any Standard 2 3/4" steel cartridge. It is best if it not fired through any tighter than half choke. If you want to fire any longer shells then a new gun with Longer chambers and proofed for High Performance steel. Regards SS
  22. Nice one arcpest. Please let me know how you are getting on with it as you go. I hope to have one in my cabinet before too long. Regards SS
  23. Good Advice there Geoff. Better than paying a Gunsmith £50 to remove a set of stuck solid chokes. 1/4 1/4 is a good all round clay choke and will break anything in reality and Pigeon? You wont see them for feathers Regards SS
  24. Yep, all up and running from Monday just gone. I haven't been myself yet but I'll be popping along shortly. first reports are good though. Litts at the Sportsman Gun Centre is their New title. Regards SS
