  4. I go in to my hen house / barn in the dark with a torch and block all the holes in the walls up, then leave it for about 10 mins open the barn door up let the patterdales in and switch the light on, all i can say is its carnage the poultry and fowl know the score now and you can see them all move out of the way of the terriers I swear they enjoy the hunt lol

  11. Thanks Logic They are never more than 50 yards away and i agree this topic comes up all the time but my original topic was has any one used Extra High volocity ammo so please dont blame me LOL atb
  12. Reason i was asking is that sometimes when Im out on the farm with the 22 rimfire I come across a Fox or two and Ive never took a shot with the Subsonics even though the Fox is only 50 so yards away i just dont think there up to it I thought I could keep a clip of these extra high velocity in my pocket and just switch clips. I understand that the bullet drop would be less on this ammo and could compensate for that with the mill dots But if you guys dont rate them Ill leave well alone and go out with the 223, Just like the little rimfire and always seem to have it with me around the farm and t
  13. Hi has anyone used extra high velocity Hollowpionts in there 22 rimfire ? and are they any good? thanks guys atb moosedog
  14. I think there a pic of one in Robert Bucknells book that he or some one with him shot while out foxing
  15. hey digger we are having a good old fashioned polite debate and its something that is very rare on this site. Thankyou and enjoy atb Cris
  16. Dont want to hog the thread but thats an interesting post, imo most of the threadbare fell packs couldn't afford full time terrier men and some of the very best dogs were created by tennant farmers, road workers, school teachers and god knows who,not full time terrier men,my own stock was from S Wilkinson, and could be traced back to A Heinamann's dogs,he wasn't exactly using them for fox though was he? yeah your right digger but my own local hunt Blencathra could up to Willie Irvings day anyway and he bred and sent dogs to most of the fell packs and at the end of the season they went to tenan
  17. just bear in mind everyone without the hunt terrier men of old you wouldnt have any good working lines of terrier, cant comment on the rest of the country but lots of good terrier where im from you can trace there bloodline back to the hunt and the patterdale/Fell and lakeland would never of existed atb
  18. same here I live in Willie Irving Country so I could relate to the names and places its ok not great but ok, its really just Willies diary entry’s as he chases Foxes over the fells, it puts the myth of Turk of melbreak to rest though as he’s diary entry says he died after eating poison rather than a kennel fight (that’s if anyone is really interested) and goes into depth about all the terriers he bred and how his lines are still in the likes of nuttall and gould blood . try it its not that exspensive atb Cris
  19. oh my fecking good god i hope not they will truly feck the bread up
