  1. I don’t normally involve myself in all this Christmas nonsense but the missus has been so busy lately I thought I’d put the tree up for her, she said I’ve done a good job but I’m sure she’ll change it all around when I’m not in
  2. Garlic and thyme roast chicken dinner yesterday and chicken and leek pie from the left overs with a white wine and cream sauce tonight
  3. Toad in da hold tonight, proper winter food
  4. Beef stew tonight, got some shoulder from the butchers, I remember when that was cheap, not anymore, 7 quid for 500g, she needs to start eating stuff I shoot
  5. On my Christmas wind down now so thought I’d have a little wine, if you like a Pinot try this, £5.50 from Sainsburys I’ve had Pinot twice the price that wasn’t half as good as this
  6. I always say if I want to hide anything from her I just put it in the oven, I think she thinks it’s just another cupboard with a glass door whenever she goes to McDonald’s she’ll always ask if I want anything, she always gets the same response “ I’d rather eat the box it comes in “
  7. I love all the old grub my dad used to do, rabbit stews, soups made from any left over roasts, if he did a roast chicken on Sunday, we’d get til Wednesday out of it and you’d never feel like you’d been short changed, lamb neck, beef shin, whatever was the cheapest in the butchers, liver and onions, I think that would be my death row last meal, don’t really get to eat stuff like that anymore because the missus won’t eat it, if you tell her what it is she won’t even try it, oh yeah, and she thinks McDonald’s is a restaurant ( lol )
  8. Yeah just the same, for some reason they are called savoury ducks up here, never seen a duck in its life
  9. I’ve not had them for years, my old man used to get them from the local butcher, they were made with pigs liver and heart, he’d do them with mash and veg, sometimes with an onion gravy, they were mine and his Saturday treat as my mam and brother wouldn’t eat them
  10. Update I went back tonight on the lookout for the fox that showed no interest in the caller last time me and FH were there, anyway I set up in the same place, after about 20 minutes I spotted a fox in the direction where we had seen the one, this time it came straight across the field towards a vixen in heat call, I stopped it with a whistle at about 100 and dropped it on the spot with the .243 it wasn’t bothered by the lamp, a good size old dog with very few teeth in its head, heading back to the motor I spotted another near the farm, but it crossed the road and I couldn’t see where it
  11. Last of the yard concrete in today, hopefully get paid here before Christmas because I’m almost 4.5k in
  12. When I was a lad and my dad asked what I wanted for tea, it would always be rabbit stew, I’ve not had it for years
  13. Saag chicken, lovely after a day out in the rain chasing pheasants around
  14. We’re on a roll lately, we’ll have to try the fallow up at the shoot
  15. Tonight’s outing started with FOXHUNTER arriving at mine for 6pm and we were off to my mates farm, against my better judgment I took the .223 with the alpex NV on the top, I was planning to take the .243 with the lamp as it worked a treat last time we were out, and having a few runners lately with the .223 I’ve lost a bit of confidence in it, anyway we got set up overlooking two fields, it wasn’t long before FH spotted one a long way off on another farm, expecting it to come straight up the field we waited, all of a sudden it was too our right approaching the caller, I turned towards it but it
  16. Roast beef, I must be good for an hour in my chair now
  17. Nowt else to do today due to the snow and the missus taking over the front room doing peoples tax returns ( even though she’s got an office upstairs) so I’ve shut myself in the kitchen, chocolate, ginger and cinnamon cake and a corn beef and potato pie, roast beef dinner is now on the go
  18. Give up trying to do anything with the concrete, just went and covered it then it was off to feed the birds, fair bit of snow and absolutely freezing, hopefully this will bring the flying chickens back into the drives and on the feed
  19. Concrete again this week, it’s borderline to cold, poured today and I think it will have to be covered tomorrow
  20. Concrete in today, 9.5 cube, about another 30ish cube to go in next week, hopefully it will be a bit warmer next week I’ve been freezing all day
  21. I don’t know what the problem is, it’s no worse than 90% of the towns in this toilet of a country, I’ve lived here all my life and I would call it a cultural melting pot ( or a sh*thole ) life would be dull if you couldn’t walk down Stockton high street and watch a spice head trying to fight a pigeon ( lol )
  22. It could of been, I know it was around the headlands, it will of been well over 15 years ago when he worked there, I’m sure when he left he went to work for Able on the river, dismantling war ships, then oil rig platforms, earning mega money
