  1. To be fair, I couldn’t finish it and I’ve just got back in from a 4 mile wander trying to walk it off
  2. Cottage pie and a load of veg, using everything up out the fridge before shopping tomorrow
  3. Knew I’d get roped in on this patio, happy with how it’s gone down, just don’t like the slabs
  4. Parmesan, gives it a nice saltiness, does smell a bit off mind on its own
  5. Spaghetti bolognaise from scratch, none of that sh*t from a jar, does anyone else think mushrooms have no place in a bolognaise, she makes me put them in and they just don’t go together
  6. Absolute tw*t if a 16 year old has cut that down, he can come to work with me, because he clearly knows how to use a chainsaw, it’s been cut properly from both sides, most people ( who don’t know what they are doing) would of got the saw stuck cutting something that size from the bottom
  7. Finally got the all weather surface for the horse arena we did over spring/ summer, who’d of thought shredded tyres were so hard to get hold of
  8. Finished off the prep for the patio and driveway this morning and then up the farm for a look at the new kit, a chat and just to be a general nuisance
  9. He must of put a good price in on this job, because the prep has been subbed out to me, type one now in, aco’s in and edging set in around the drive
  10. I’ve tried pimping her out a few times but she becomes too expensive once my fees are applied
  11. I keep it in the family, and employ the mother-in-law, she comes every Friday, it’s amazing what a 70 year old can get done in a couple of hours, it’s a pleasure to come home on a Friday afternoon, she’s worth every penny of the 25 quid wages ( gave her a fiver, pay rise because of the cost of living crisis)
  12. I put fresh in, I use 500g of brambles every time, when I get them I put them in 500g bags and freeze them, if you haven’t picked any the ones from the supermarket are just as good, tastes miles better than sloe gin, even better if you mix it with Prosecco
  13. If like me you like a cold glass of Pinot whilst watching antiques roadshow on a Sunday evening, I can highly recommend this, it’s very dry ( how I like it ) and slightly acidic, I’ll normally only have one one a school night but I might go another small one
  14. I only have one meal on a Sunday, so I make it a good’un, I’m out now dropping my mam’s off and cake for the mother-in-law, while the missus is on the sofa in a food coma
  15. Half an onion, full bulb of garlic and a big bunch of thyme, salt, pepper, dry thyme on the skin
  16. Chicken dinner today, well, it is a Sunday
  17. Few Jonny Smiths tonight also filtering the first of the bramble gin and starting the next one off
  18. Went down to Helmsley after feeding pheasants with the missus, got a bag of chips and sat in the square, didn’t want any tea but just got a peckish on, so chucked tomatoes, peppers, onions and garlic in the oven, wizzed them up, bit of chorizo and some pasta, lovely
  19. Is she charging you a fiver each for them ( lol ) good on her
  20. Yeah, I know him and his missus, I bumped into her in Helmsley today, lovely people. they are good friends of my landlady, he’s a proper Yorkshire lad
  21. I think it’s the sinnington hunt and there’s Ampleforth beagles, I don’t have anything to do with them now because one year they came through our land the day before we were to shoot without permission and my landlady went mental and kicked them off, they turned up at the farm with a tray of eggs as compensation for her ( lol ) there’s a fallow about, but forestry batter them, I was watching a small group of about 8 last night
  22. Stopped off on the way home from the shoot to have a look around Bylands abbey, stunning 12th century abbey, amazing just how perfect the stonework is and that it was done with basic hand tools almost 900 years ago
