I've researched quite a bit in two areas that have seemed to be particular big cat "hotspots" in recent years - the Stroud valleys in Gloucestershire and the Hartlepool/Sedgefield area in the North East, and if anything that has made me a bit more cynical about the whole thing. I did see, clear as day, a lynx running through a field in the Doncaster area about ten years ago, which was what sparked my interest.
