StilL comes back to the same thing. If they were about in any number at all. There would have been a dead one to show folk at some point.

I’ve had quite a few bits of stock stripped in a day / night. Worst culprits and badgers and res kites.

i know where this lad is coming from, believe or not blokes used to keep day dogs and night dogs, the reason being that night dogs were just kept strictly for lamping and were not taken out in the daytime, due to their owners wanting them to work solely by sight, and if the dog was used in daytime it would use its field craft and scent at night, usually taking off in darkness chasing everthing in, not good if you were strictly a lamping man, daytime dogs that were kept were used for ferreting, bushing, gunwork and general mooching,so were not used at night, mate of mine long gone now used to keep both types, remember seeing a 1st x collie grey, that was not much cope at night on lamp, wouldnt lift them and used to work rabbits like he was rounding sheep up, he ended up with a lad who just did a bit of daytime work, turned into a tremendous ferreting dog, caught pheasants and even daytime hares, and yes he was giving every opportunity at nightime work, but never any good, was never entered too early in life, but thats dogs for you, just like people all different.
Think he’s just talking about coursing dogs mate.

I’ve said it a lot of times. But in this country, there is nothing stock wise that a good border collie can’t do. Bred for the job, bred for the ground, the climate etc. Lots of folk do enjoy these other breeds but mostly they don’t offer much we don’t have. With the one exception maybe being the deep bark of a huntaway clearing bit rough hill ground, but that would be fairly rare.

There are a few of these Black Mouth curs being used on pigs here now, I think they are more of a bailer than lugger.
Aye that’s mainly what they are used for. Bit like a hound. They will lug, but generally used as finder bailers.

Random and a different country. But have you lads seen the cur dogs that a lot of the American lads use for cattle work and also hunting. Particularly in places like Texas and Florida. Mostly tan, rangy hound type things.

What area of Germany you going,do you still need passport for dogs or as it changed , hope you have a good time ,
East.
Rules have changed but similar. Need a licence and to pay a tax per dog. I’d say it’s more costly and complicated now.

Ooooooft looks the part now does he
He’s surprised me to be fair to him. Very puppy ish in his behaviour and slow to start in some ways. But a lovely natured dog, and a lot faster and better stamina than I thought he’d have. Has started his career well enough, will be interesting to see what he manages to become. He’s coming to Germany in Feb with me (at least that’s the plan) so we shall see what happens then.

Could do with trimming the collar down a bit
Aye it’s a bit long. Generally it’s secured out the way. Tend to leave them long as sometimes stick them around other dogs or around the middle of the small dogs.

So ..... still no theory from anyone as to why one hasn’t been shot / trapped / dogged / road kill so there is a genuine undeniable large cat body ?

With regards to hunting partners. I have one lad who moved locally last year and we go out a lot, and two lads who live 5-6 hours away who come to mine regular sometimes just for the night and sometimes for a week to ten days at a time. The one drive 6 hours with a leg in plaster for an afternoons bushing and a night in the pub and then drove 6 hours home in the morning. Mad.
