  1. Good to hear thats what you want out of a working dog and I'm sure ill meet zip and the brown one when i come to pick up those jill kits when there ready.all mine are generally good but i have one jill now that stays down for ages and I've had to dig her out twice {luckily the soil was soft} I'm a bit apprehensive to take her out now.
  2. Apart from the bells do you use any finders in case they stay down to long or come across a group of babies?
  3. Nice vid mate sounds like a great week away.i can't get over how many warrens there are on that property its like las vegas for bunnies great to see young zip getting better and better with each trip out.
  4. Sounds good cheers guys for the info.ill PM you jok and sort out cost and shipping thanks again
  5. i was going to have a crack at making one as mine are looking pretty worn excuse the silly question were and how do i get my hands on one of those boxes they look mint?
  6. Yea he's not that far away I'm going to grab a few ferrets of him soon so ill see his pup whip when I'm there.
  7. I don't mind a feed of liver as I'm polish and eat almost any thing within reason but where I'm from i would be a little hesitant to feed them to much liver.just depends on the animal if the liver looks nice and healthy and no pale bits or specks than I'm sure they'll love a nice treat now and than
  8. Nicely done and great stuff from snipe little bit envious as my dogs are more used to chasing pigs than rabbits would be great to see a good dog marking warrens
  9. I love a good working ferret and I'm not to fussed with colors but he's got the darkest chocolate brown I've ever seen nice pics guys and sweet looking ferrets
  10. WOW didn't think this would end up into a spelling or pronunciation contest as I'm a newbie to this site and don't want to ruffle any feathers what i can suggest is a little advise goes a long way..i have been ferreting for over ten years and have learnt put the nets out in a practical way and for the most part they will come back in the basket the same way you laid them minus a hick up or two. if those of you are concerned about your gear rolling around and causing tangles why not strap it down or store it properly ?
  11. I agree with smithie I've had a few quick sets but one was absolutely crap the rabbits bolted into it and bounced off as if it was a tennis net.just placed an order with nelson nets i here there the bees knees.
  12. Shame about the weather but none the less sounds like a great day out.good to see the youngsters came up with the goods
  13. good stuff shame the staff covered the other holes if there were bunnies in that warren you would have cleaned them out.hope they don't dig there way out id be keen to see how you go on your next session.
  14. looks good mate a few bits and pieces for them to enjoy and run a muck in and your on your way for a sweet ferret run
  15. nice demonstration that being said its a shame we don't have field days over here were you can see and touch all manner of hunting gear and get demos in the field.
  16. nice work, wasn't the best of days in melbourne today but good to see you got a few and evan better the young pup snagged one
  17. Nice one mate when the little fellas are about there's got to be a bigger one lurking around.what kind of lure did you get him on?
  18. I agree with the one.my situation was the opposite to yours tho i rescued a hob as he seemed to be a great ferret just had a shty owner and when i put him in with my gills they went nuts on him but after making a new enclosure that i had to do as it was overdue they all got on sweet as pie he was probably one of my best males as well but no longer with me now
  19. Im very passionate about my right to go hunting whatever type it may be.im a mad keen fisherman have worked in the tackle industry for more than 8 years but get this and no offence to you guys in the Uk as i do enjoy a bit of carp fishing they won't do SHT to eradicate or at least control there numbers but they want to get rid of TROUT cause they compete with our native fish.. what horse SHT anyone in OZ knows a cod or bass would happily eat a trout.added to that the amount of people who enjoy catch and release and the money, jobs, revenue it brings.so sad.....
  20. you nailed it on the head YOU would think they've learned from previous disasters but they haven't.latest thing I've heard is there planing and doing a MASS cull on deer in victoria cause there numbers are to high added to that adding more marine parks which means NO fishing, boating, diving when will it end..
  21. Thats total BS im not surpised though coming from our currnet government...no animal deserves to die a slow and painful death...
  22. you guys in the usa would have beaver dams on just about every river, i can only imagine it would be almost impossible to spook a beaver out of its 10ton wood pile home mid river with dogs wouldn't it be better to trap them or shot them out in the open water 17hmr or .22lr?
  23. hey guys this may sound a little silly but down my way {victoria AUS} I've caught all kinds of species of mullet which are fairly easy to catch but sea mullet which are notoriously finicky on fly as well as bait to catch for some reason they have a liking to bread or pizza doe with parmesan flake through it, or flys that are tied to look like floating bits of scum{algae} in dark green or brown, marabou trimmed short on a strong size 10/12 with a little bit of fly flotant so it sits right in the surface film seems to bring them unstuck
  24. one of my mates moved to alberta canada and does a lot of trapping up there for all kinds of critters and has tried netting slow corners or bends in the rivers were the current doesn't run as hard and has had success on the little kits but when it comes to 15lb of adult beaver storming up or down river they just destroy and make a mess of your nets.best method find where they live where they come out to munch on trees and set 30/30 conibears {or whats legal to use in your country}on the bank or just below water level depending where there runs are lay a bit of scent and bark from what trees th
