  5. To be honest im not 100% sure of the breeding, i know the sire is a full racing whippet but the bitch is some sort of whippet x, I thought she was collie whippet, or collie whippet greyhound, though there could be bull in the lines somewhere but im happy with the way hes working and he has plenty of heart so il not complain lol
  6. Haven't really done much ferreting with him, though come spring when there is young ferrets about il be getting a team of jills again. Havent had any in a couple of years, so get a few young uns so i know theyre well handled and break the dog to them.

  8. 3rd trip out with Midge this year, only starting out on the lamp. He's near too eager walking in on his first rabbit but settles down after the first slip. Fairly starting to come along. Plenty of slips of rabbits in the seat and he will be flying, well chuffed with him ??
  9. Have had a lot men saying here that buzzards are having an effect on the rabbit numbers, with these past few mild winters the buzzard numbers have shot up, i see them regularly whereas a few years ago we wouldnt have seen as many here and more rabbits, but i think its more coincidence
  10. Not much here in N ireland, got new perm on a golf course so its getting tried on monday night ?
  11. does my f**king head in but just have to persevere and look out for new perms, my job is being a passenger in van most of the day all over NI everyday somewhere different all the time, any good spots are saved on my phone and i call back to the nearest farm that weekend, sometimes the driver even stops to let me go knock doors, i love my job haha
  12. had a permission wiped out of rabbits by some riflemen aswell, nothing worse, was a brilliant place too for starting young dogs good open fields for easy slips at squatters and all the rabbits left laying in the fields, talk about raging
  13. might give it a go myself and try for a few rabbits, good wind blowing here tonight but my lamps not charged need to be on the ball come monday, brother in law had a charlie killed earlier was kicking myself i didnt get out

  15. I got a lend of a multi trap so il set it tonight hopefully with a bit of luck, anybody know what the best bait would be for the buggers
  16. Had no joy wasnt any about tonight though the guy had been working in there all day so theyve buggered off through the day but im sure theyll be back at some point, he even got the place smoked out with a sick car and the door only open a few inches after we tried the ferrets with no luck. Think a trap is next on the cards.
  17. Thats what im thinking lol get a bit of action for the ferrets and dog beats sitting in the house
  18. cheers mate il get a nosey at that ?
  19. its a small garage in a yard for car mechanicing block walls all round and the main door is the only way in or out so ive no problems with it going into cavities or anything like that. maybe making a smoker would be my best bet
  20. Anybody have any experience ratting with ferrets? Have a garage to clear with lots of rats in all sorts of nooks and crannys in behind cupboards and tools. Its a small garage and only one door. I was thinking of leaving the door open a little bit and bolt them out to a dog. Would the ferrets be up to the job of bolting them?
  21. swellings down a good bit now, kept washing it out and penicillin must be starting to work. scabbing up nicely now
  22. Yea ive defo thought theres collie in the breeding somewhere along the line, for hes a smart enough one aswell, and handy enough trained with a bit of patience
  23. I washed it out with saltwater and a vet had told me to from the day it happened Deerman. Just wasnt sure about using peroxide on a cut as deep as it is. i use peroxide on anything else smaller than that. he got a jeg of penicillin so that should do the trick along with cleaning daily
