  1. I've been using an Impact GSX100 for a little while Mark.

It a well balanced rifle - probably due to the slim cylinder. The GSX200 has a larger bottle that will bring the weight forward.

I have a 17 shot .177 mag. I can empty 4 1/2 of these before I need to refil the air.

The cylinder on my rifle says that it has an swp of 220bar but, I only ever fill to 200bar.

The American Walnut stock is very nice.

Ive never been a fan of floating barrels but, this all feels well made and sturdy.

The up-back-down-up-forward-down cocking procedure isn't as smooth as the HW100s but, it is reassuringly solid.

With that long ol' silencer, it is very quiet. There is less noice from the action than my old HW100 and, very little muzzle report.

It's as accurate as my old HW100.

Generally, so far, in my opinion, this one is an excellent rifle

I haven't had to deal with the company or their service but, I'm happy with the product.

Are you looking at getting one?

  2. Welcome to the world of spring rifle tuning mate

I must have had my TX apart 15 times before I was completely happy

    ....... I had everything from 4 to 19ftlb :o

This was my first and, perseverance is key. I'm over the moon with it now. It's a .22 running at just over 11ftld and it's nice to shoot.

Also, it's very satisfying that I've done it myself.

    Atb with yours :)

  3. There used to be a big old sikh bloke that lived by us, he had 2 of them.

He used to walk them along the Thames where we were fishing. That was in the early 90s when we were kids.

They'd walk either side of him and do exactly as they were told.

If he said 'friend', they'd put their heads down and let us stroke them. If he said 'smile' they'd lift their lip.

He ruled over those dogs and they served him well.

He had a shop on our estate for years - it was only ever boken into once.

  4. My great grandfather was a bear knuckle fighter

Same here. grandad moved from Wales to work on the railways when he was a lot younger. He used to fight to top up his money.

He's in 90s now but, he's still got fists like canon balls.

I'm fecked if I'd give it a go.

  5. I've said it before - he needs help, not a prison sentence. He did a few tours where he's responsible for his lads lives, not just his own - lads whose wives and kids he knows. That's a lot of pressure.

He was a professional soldier and, by his own admission, he's well aware of the rules of engagement and the Geneva convention.

He's been failed and hung out to dry when, he should have been helped. Yes a bollocking was due but, so was help from the people that he served.

It's the same old story - they take a young recruit, break him down, build him into a capable killer then, abandon him when he slips up or he's no longer useful.

....... Unfortunately, this is what happens when politicians stick their noses into something that they know f**k all about.

He should have been home long before now.

  6. Give them a go mate.

I'd advise targets at different ranges at first to make sure that they will actually hit what you aim at with consistency.

If that's all good, I'd probably fire some at a dry piece of 2x4 to see what the penetration is like - again at different ranges.

Then, if you're happy, use them

An accurate .22 at that weight will be a stopper. You just need to learn what it does when it leaves the barrel.

Great write up JJ and a good shooting mate, I'm still waiting for my first. I'm holding out for the Beast of Bodmin Moor I think hahahaha

    It'll come

My first one, when I returned to the sport after being away for 20yrs, was a rabbit.

And that was on the 3rd visit to a permission that was absolutely jumping with them

I'm in no rush JJ, Jimmy & Sean are keeping me on the straight and narrow ??

    That's good mate......

I was a 16yr old knocking over squirrels with a .22 BSA Mercury Challenger (I'd give my left testicle to have that rifle back)........ roll on 20yrs - I was a 36yr old with a PCP on a very steep learning curve and no one to show me the way.

I'd put a lot of time in on targets but, without the benefit of someone else's experience, I now think I was over cautious back then.

........ I'm so pleased that I came back to it though - you can't beat a good hunt and some fresh grub

Did the shot tear it's crop open Si?

I might have another look at my 97 with JSB Heavies

It's bang on accurate with FAPs but, it did give a nice group with heavies at the club a few weeks ago.

Yeah shot it from behind.. straight through the shoulder blades and neck!!

After my fall out with jsb quality I'm back :)

Sticking with the heavys in both .177's so aim points are the same in both riflles !

That vodka is lovely too, you should try it :)

    Atb si

    Nice

Fair comment on the trajectories - I'm using Heavies in the Impact so, that could work for me. I'll have a look and see what the fps is like

I can't do vodka mate

I got absolutely smashed on it a couple of times when I was young and silly - those memories of throwing it up out of my nose are hard to forget
