Struggling to find a Shotgun.
si brown replied to EmiGoodman1's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
went to the clay ground with a mate a a few weeks back, hes had hart surgery so was a bit sceptical about letting rip with a 12g so he bought a 20. recon he hit 80% and was well chuffed with it, I had a few shots and it handled better than my ou 12.. ive had a couple of discs out of my back so a 20 might be on my shopping list! -
haha... you should sign up for that tv program naked and afraid! its ok they blur your bits out but I bet them yanks aint ready for your style of hunting, you'd be mint on it

me grandad was a doctor and showed me how to make little bangers with copper sulphate and salt Peter, I nicked the lot and stepped the mix up to a bog roll full, blew the chicken shed up and took the green house out... that went down well

top ones a crusty Diana sp50 thats been kicked round the streets and the bottoms a gat that got well looked after

got to agree with Pav above, I used Yukon's for years right up to the latest models and was sick of them losing zero, the latest rt I had went back as the firmware wouldn't update and kept crashing... my pard 008 has never needed altering since I put it on months ago, the ir is far superior on the pards as well. Yukon is the yank export name for pulsar and I know people who've had the top of the range pulsar units that cost £1300 and they have flogged them. for me its pard or the lamp, all digital scopes look shit during the day when you are used to quality scopes.

one of me mums mates bought a swanky merc last year.. it was the best thing since sliced bread the day they bought it, next time she saw her she had a different car.. it wouldn't shut up and did her head in so it was sold with less than 200 mile on and less than two weeks old

got to confess matt, dont think ive ever shot anything that didn't like aa fields.. there like a work in any riffle even pellet fussy ones!
-
use to use the heavies loads till I started shooting around livestock, used them and biz mags as both are good when your stretching the range! problem was pass throughs and ricochets .. not a problem out in the middle of nowhere but near the road side and around cattle I just wasn't happy so I went onto the express, one extreme to the other.. I was always sceptical about the light weights in the wind but I wouldn't go back to heavy pellets in .177 now! me 100 loved them and the little ultra is great with them, use them on rats and feral in the barns with no problems and they hol

dont really use my primos sticks as much now cos im way steadier with sticks but they both have a place, and both are cheaper than a good Harris
-
they are handy ben in the right situations but when your trekking about on a night there a pain if your on the sticks and dig in ya back when your using a sling!

as Phil says, there are loads of opportunity's out there.. campsites in closed season are a good one for air rifles if you see woods full of crows/pigeons or field/paddocks with rabbits just go knock on there doors.. some will say no others will be grateful! dont turn up looking like Rambo though! happy new year and good luck -
how much are you going to use it ben?! ive got one and only use I to zero, its a Harris ripoff, bout £45.. not keen on getting on the deck, especially this time of the year and I wouldn't dare let rip with a c/f laid prone on most of my land, most of its flat and fields are all hedges over this way so im sold on me quadsticks or if its ok ill just use me backpack! had a Harris but let it go on a deal and im not spending £120 on another.. as for javelins at £300+ wtf

looks like we are still in the blitz some nights when the keepers are out in force.. lights all over and the Sarajevo soundtrack, I just aim for home when its like that, dont fancy getting shot my stomping ground has a shoot either side of it, theres loads of land between them but I know if one of them spots something in the distance it'll be getting shot at
-
this has been a great thread stav,, although the shoot its self is not my thing ive really enjoyed reading it over the last few months! im just glad the weather has been good to you over the last few weeks and you've had some good days.. I know a bad weather days not the end of the world and the lads still enjoy it but you cant beat a fresh dry one and I can only imagine the buzz you felt when the keeper gave you the nod got me fingers crossed for the finally hopefully it'll be another fine day
