  1. You should be able to get a new Mamba but I doubt you will find an old Mamba..................................................before I get there first. ? Phil
  2. Mine is set as close as I can to 140 as advised by ASI and using AA Field 25.4gr that produces 47fpe which seems to kill rabbits at close and long range with no problem. Phil
  3. I am even worse than you Mark................................a retired office softy. Even with a bulpup, the weight of some NV systems work against you but depending on what type of shooting you do, I can really recommend the Primos, trigger stick tripod. Easy enough to walk around with and offers a superb rest for the weight of your kit giving you a really stable base. I can tell you there are loads of guys who have bought them and now would never go shooting without them, me included. https://www.bushwear.co.uk/primos-trigger-stick-gen-2-tripod-316957.html or https://www.
  4. I agree with you Jimmy regarding the Airmax, superb in daylight but at night even with my Nitesite, they are not as good as my Mamba Lite. Phil
  5. This might just be my simple mind at work here Mark BUT if the second group has 'warmed' up and produces the better group, then perhaps that should not be considered because unless you are shooting in quick succession in the hide, there will be cooling off time between shots. If that is the case then perhaps after a tune, the Prosport could be improved which may give better groups from cold. I don't know if that makes sense, I am getting confused and I wrote i. Phil
  6. Trish and I are there Sunday so we will see you lot there. I will phone you Si if we don't bump into each other. Phil
  7. A very valid and fair comment Meece so the only thing I can say in response is that I do shoot out to 100mt now although not often because of the area I shoot and have never tried at 150mt BUT whichever route I go down, there will be quite a bit of time spent on the range before I even attempt to shoot rabbits at these ranges. Trust me, if it turns out that I am bloody useless, the gun will be kept for the range or sold....... Phil
  8. I have both the Hawke Airmax 30 SF and the Endurance Renos which I bought this year, very impressed indeed. Phil
  9. t is worth you getting a copy of 'Airgun Shooter' Mark as they are doing a write up on classic guns starting with the famous FWB. Phil
  10. No problem Mark and I do still like my Mamba Lites but I can confirm despite being heavier, the Hawke Endurance and Airmax have better glass with far less flare/white out. Phil
  11. I know from the bits of information I have picked up that most people zero HMR at around 100mt, is WMR about the same. Sorry to sound dumb but have no experience in either of these cals. Phil
  12. Quite a fair bit of my bunny shooting is also at night and agree the flatter trajectory has an appeal but how much difference is there in that respect between the two. I also got the impression that if I used hollow point ammo, the WMR would not make such a mess as we do sell quite a few rabbits. Phil
  13. Pleased it has worked out for you, to be honest had I seen this post earlier, I would have said to seriously look at the Hawke Airmax scopes, really really good and designed for air rifles. Enjoy your new scope. Phil
  14. I am very happy with my FAC FX Impact air rifle and Anschutz .22LR but I am looking at something with a bit more range. I have sort of asked views before on 17HMR but a couple of RFDs have said I should consider .22WMR but I know nothing about them other than the head is heavier than a 17 and it is a slower speed so not quite as flat a trajectory as a 17HMR. So my question is chaps which would you go for and why but please consider that I am not shooting foxes only rabbits and the requirement is for a suitable longer range bunny gun. Phil
  15. I have a Hawke Vantage 3-9x44 AO Mark which I was going to sell but it is handy as a back up scope or to loan out. You can borrow it to test for a couple of weeks if you want mate but at the end of the month my shooting buddy will be using it until he gets a new scope for his new rifle. Let me know if that helps. Phil
  16. Nor me and quite heavy. FX did one a few years ago but no idea if they sold many or if it is still made. Phil
  17. Love it, well done that man. Phil
  18. I will be watching this space my friend, it is the only springer that I really like but I should say that is because of weight nothing else. My tunes TX was a bit special when Tim had finished with it but just too heavy for what I want so this has great appeal. Phil
  19. Members of this site are a generous crowd, nice gesture matey. Phil
  20. Thanks Simon. I have never tried one as you can tell. Phil
  21. When you zoom in, does the cross hair become thicker or have I misunderstood the concept. Phil
  22. oooooh a 57, I thought you were not keen on the 57 Jimmy. I shall be very interested in the results Si with this gun as you and I had a chat about them when I came over to your place. Must admit I do like them and much lighter than most underlever rifles. Glad you all had a good weekend boys. Phil

    Impact

Thermal is growing at some rate but too expensive for me. You have used both NV and thermal so which do you think is better and why, that may sound daft to you but I have not even seen through a thermal device, the ones I have seen on youtube don't look so good but I am completely ignorant with thermal. No wonder you have a cull season with the numbers showing, only wish my perms produced that sort of volume although I am not complaining. Phil
