  1. Didn't fall into the idea of needing college and a white collar job. Never really had some massive dream plan either past the military. Didn't get to the sniper part but after really seeing what goes guys do past the glitz and glam the movies show ...not much shame in saying I'm a bit too bitch made for alot of that . My frequent hip and back pain don't help But yeah just kinda moved from one thing to another. Realized I'm not made for the white collar space like a large majority of my family. Went to a little. Community college got a welding... degree? Certificate? Ended up dropping

  3. I,m happy as a pig in shit, hated school and authority with a vengeance ,left with no qualifications lived a mental teenage into my early twenty’s wasted a few years behind bars but when my first child was born and I thought I have to change things for them,so I started my own business, I,ve always been good at spotting opportunities and making a quick buck so I bought a house at 22 paid it off by my early 40s and now I live on my dream boat in one of my favourite places with all my family within one hundred yards of me and a tidy wedge to see me through, I made it and will die a happy man

  4. We have to have taxes, it’s how they are spent I object to. I remember when VAT was introduced at the behest of the EU. We were told “ don’t worry , it’s a tax on luxury goods, only millionaires buying Rolex watches and Rolls Royce’s will pay it ! That didn’t last long, did it ? Now you pay it on everyday purchases. You pay it on the tax you pay on your petrol ! How on earth can we pay tax on a tax ? Thr EU ordered us to pay 5% VAT on our gas and electric bills. We were promised it would be removed when we had Brexit, has it been ? Has it hell. And of course we all pay

  7. I simply don’t agree with this “we should all be equal” Labour/Socialist/Communist nonsense. I don’t want to be equal to the lazy bloke who isn’t interested in working for a living or bettering his circumstances. Im not clever enough to be an entrepreneur or brave enough to risk everything to start up a business but I don’t despise the success of people who do. Of course we have to support the sick, the old, the disadvantaged , but to make everyone “equal “ inevitably means “levelling down”. Lets not forget, Big Business and the rich pay the majority of tax, something like

  10. Having a walk out and I always walk down the railway line and onto the golf course if it’s cold and there nobody there, there’s many pipes the dogs always like to sniff at, I think they’re just to let the water through, some are eight inches and twenty feet long some are bigger or so and one pipe is huge about twenty inches in diameter would fit a staffy in it, my little Patterdale bitch sniffed and starting wagging her tail dropped in the huge pipe and after a few minutes baying a huge dog fox ran out the other end and over the field, didn’t have no running dog, but was good to see. Little ba

  16. No , it isn’t anything like what I envisaged . I left north yorks 3 years ago after 12 years in Suffolk , did a year in Kent , 2 in Hampshire and now I’m back up at scotch corner in the same job , the same place , the same people I was with three years ago . In the interim I have caned myself , my family and my working relationships to the point where I have less than probably 10 people I care about on the planet . I live nothing like the life I thought I would , I have literally no interest in most of the things of my peers, I don’t know how best to plan the next 5 years but as lo

  24. See, this is the thing, in all these conversations it’s always “tax the big business/billionaire/farmer (delete as applicable)….” In fact it’s tax anyone who has a bit more than us……but that ain’t the reality mate. Fair enough if you could see your nation getting better because of it….but do you see that ? Can you hand on heart say “If the farmer down the road looses a big chunk of his life’s work I trust politicians to use that money to make my life better” ?……I think we all know the answer to that. Nah, the reality is, the small business like a little farm shop near

  25. Problem is it a catch 22, a vicious circle. Farms that have been in the same families for centuries, I’m not talking about landed gentry, they allways find a way round iht and death duties , I’m talking about normal everyday farmers like the ones who let me do a bit of ferreting , who I buy a bag of wheat from for my hens, they are asset rich because the price of land has risen dramatically because the big businesses, hedge funds, pension funds, etc have bought up land as a tax haven. These small family farmers now have very little cash in real terms and a profit margin of around 0.5-1%.

  27. Though y'all might like this. Charles Beaty was a pretty infamous food turned trophy poacher in South Texas. Guy hunted in n the king and Kennedy ranches ( some of the biggest private ranches being 825,000 and 235,000 acres ). Places where so massive he'd go in for days-weeks at a time. Was a bit of a kings land type of deal due to the poor hunting conditions of public land and general poverty of the area. Long story short if you wanted decent hunting and to fill your freezer ... Had to eather travel long distances or poach off these ranches. Lived in small bush camps he'd make, ate main

  29. I think it was a good grounding for terrier and lurcher lads. The little game that was still around were truly a case of survival of the fittest. Required dogs with good noses and great drive to have any success in those areas of vast overgrown bramble and gorse for little reward. And you cannot train that into a dog, they need to have it in them. You cannot force dogs to do that type of work, they need to love doing it. Taking good numbers on beautiful land in places such as the Scottish Borders or Northumberland is piece of piss in comparison

If one day or night you do see one how would you take it mate, would you assume it’s a pet like the lynx or a naturalised born and bred uk creature, I hunted a valley in North Somerset for over 30 years day and night before I ever saw any signs of cat activity a freshly consumed roe I put out a couple of cameras and caught one within 3 month yet in 30 years I never had a clue now I’m tuned in I can often find sign if I go back there I’ve seen two in the flesh and quite a few good clear pictures since so to me there just is no question and as the dna is coming in it just enforces what I know

  31. At least not taxed on pensions for a start. I tend to agree with points on both sides of the argument on this thread and I think it's down to how our taxes are spent and used unwisely that gets all our backs up.

  32. I started this thread asking “what is happening to my country ?”. That it is on a downward spiral I’m of no doubt, even Starmer is on record as saying things will get worse. Whos to blame for this ? Well, if I ran a country and it was going bankrupt, I’d be to blame ! So, who runs the UK ? Well, , nominally, it’s the government, ( I say “nominally” because someone is bound to say it’s not the government, it’s the Royals/ Establishment/Deepstate/ WEF/ Masons/Illuminatti, take your pick.), but it’s the government that makes the rules. The Tory’s have overseen 14 years of decl

  37. Bit of digression on the thread but a lot of British people have Stockholm Syndrome when they move…..at least that’s what I have noticed here. They go to pieces if they don’t have a million rules and regulations to follow and some official treating them like shit……absolutely true story, seen it a few times now.
