Just been in the garden and laid Celt to rest. 15 and half and been my best mate for all that time. Was surprising what this lad could do, ferreting, lamping, work with the gun etc etc. A desperation mating with my old digging terrier and my 3/4 collie grey as the dog I wanted to cover her couldn't do it but my terrier could! I had the mother scanned and if she had been coming with a belly full I would probably have aborted them but the vet said 3 or 4 so I let the birth happen. We've had some adventures, plenty of which I couldn't post on here. Celt was the last one still32 points

About 6 months now and going well. Real sweet nature to her and pretty soft. That said she thinks nothing of going under a gate through a stream of freezing water on her belly. Recall is great nice remote sit. Retreiving going well and thinks nothing of a memory. She is pretty playful and likes to have a romp around with it first though. Fine with sheep and ferrets and even cats. Nimble thing with legs like springs and loves jumping on stuff including me the bugger lol. So yea roll on next season and hope she does the business Scooby doo audition21 points

Midmorning my lad and his wife will visit open presents that wifey has spoilt them with I don't mind. Then the sad bit we will go up to our only granddaughters grave that we lost 20 months ago leave flowers and a wreath I've started to make. Lad and his wife still taking it hard at times it was a very rare genetic thing so no more grandchildren unless they adopt. I won't pressure them. The bar across the middle will com17 points

Like you, I'm old enough to remember before the saluki type arrived ! ?? Up here the deer cross was the " go too" type for daytime hare and roe. Billy Docherty had great results with pure and cross Deerhounds, and I remember some of the Ashington match dogs, Thor and the Widdrington Train spring to mind. Heavily deerhound blooded dogs, and there was a lad from around Durham ran the same types in matches around Drax. Even our old pal Tomo had some success with a whippet/grey x deer/grey. But according to some, these deer types have no prey drive, are big lumbering curs......10 points

You d'narf write some bollocks mate. The heart, lung and blood problems manifested before the vaccination program. I'm still paying the physical price of having Covid nearly three years ago. I know of others in a similar situation . The rubbish about attributing every death to Covid is another point worth disputing. The figures were for people that had covid at the time of their death, not necessarily that they died from it. As for dodging the vaccination ; well that's a personal choice . Though an ambulance driving friend told me that the only Covid patients s7 points

They also don't need a medical diagnosis of "gender diaspora " from a doctor or psychiatrist as was the rule previously, they just need to say " I identify as a woman, and three month later they get a "gender certificate ". They are then legally able to use women's changing rooms, women's fefuges, and as has been said, if they are charged with rape, the court and victim and witnesses MUST use the feminine pronouns or be in contempt of court ! This applies, at the moment, only in Scotland.....what happens if the come to the rest of the UK ? Sturgeon forced this through, the woman5 points

I honestly couldn't care who's had their jabs or not,my reason for not having them was the way at the start,in which the government tried forcing certain sectors to have it or lose your job...alarm bells were ringing for me from the start...suppose the next 5/10 yrs we will see what's what by the amount of deaths ,from clots etc...I log on here most days half expecting to see RIP Threads for the jabbed members...suppose we will find out soon enough? it's already been touched upon...folks having 4/5 jabs and catching it multiple times...then saying they would of died without them?..do you catc5 points

me and the mrs had it several years ago in the menzies pie shop on the south of London bridge... i thought the same as you....but i confess to putting a lot of butter in our mash at home and a bit of milk or cream....the french put as much butter in as mash when they make it...and to fair its bloody lovely .. i will say this though...we paid around £7 for both of us at the time...which was bloody cheap when you think about it ...3 points

If we’re talking this old timers vs chavvy land drivers such as myself , I’ll represent my own views ,as it seems that @shaaark thinks I think they should all be thrown in the sea. ?? in one of @OldPhils tomes he makes mention of a dog called Chato , a gypsy bred coursing type I believe, well as a kid in our gang of Tyro coursing aficionados ?? we had bran , who was the result of a first cross dh gh to a coursing type . He was a machine , an absolute machine , just a stone cold killer , 28 ins of hate , that would think nothing of splitting hedges apart , smashing through cover , and I ca3 points

Personally, I think the saluki type is the ultimate daytime hare dog, but other types are, probably, in my mind, better on deer. But there are other crosses that can and do take daytime hares, and then again, not everyone wants to only run daytime hares ! Before the saluki lads say, "but Saluki types can do other things", yes, of course they can; I remember Max bringing a coursing bitch out of retirement and impressing in one of the lamping competitions. Ive owned pure and cross Salukis, and most other types, but my advice is go with a dog that suits your land, quarry, circumsta3 points

I don't think anybody would argue that the deerhound/ greyhound is the best performing lurcher. If you want big bags of rabbits or a daytime hare dog or a vermin dog then look elsewhere. But if you wanted something pre ban for larger edibles, was a laid back companion, easy in kennel or house and with other dogs and is stunning to look at,then a deer grey is just the ticket. Plus, they are very good for your blood pressure! A not unimportant factor when you are my age. I don't want to be fighting with a difficult dog. I want one that's in tune with me. I've heard folk complain about x and y wi3 points

This years slightly different, wake up go down to the fruit bar get a mango smoothie, or a singha, on beach for a swim , snorkelling, then a lobster , pennang curry, pineapple rice, grilled pork , garlic prawns, more beer, look at all the birds on the beach which are very nice I must add. Then we’re off deep sea fishing for sail fish. Return to eat more food with live band.3 points

The best one was shh who was yelling at everyone to get jabbed then when asked himself said he scared of needles lol then has a body with more tattoos than a shepton mallet3 points

I was thinking the same ,I got a F1 bedy grey that's turned out a honest type but the deerhound X would put a bit stanima and hight into the mix . I'm in 2 minds to take a litter but this is way I'll go if I do .3 points

I originally put my name down for a deerhound X bull grey pup...missed out and ended up with a bitch out of a half X bull grey to a Wheaton/greyhound,I plan to use a deerhound X over her and breed myself what I wanted at the start...my bitch got the heart but lacks in the speed department,so deerhound would lighten the pups up a bit imo?3 points

I can see why people have the jab and I understand why people don't, what I can't get is the fckn half wits on both sides getting all hot and bothered about what others do or don't and make up or copy and paste bollocks from both sides of the arguements3 points

Another old wives, Chinese whisper story to keep the lie going, your ambulance driver friend that you don’t really know ask,s everyone he collects what there vaccine status is and the only one dying on blue lights had a chance to tell him they were unvaccinated, there are lies and misinformation all around but these generic story’s once let loose on the public just spread without question it’s an oft used tool of those that want to control you ?????3 points

anyone in South Wales want firewood? I've got a load F.O.C,on the deck, you can cut and collect as much as you want...also got around 100 old railway sleepers you could burn and use for the mancave/workshop..ive cut off most the stumps and root balls, there's beech, silver birch...saves me spending 2 weeks chopping and chipping??3 points

Turrets are way but hard at the same time lol. Basically goes like this on the simplest deal. Instead of using like a coin or something to adjust the reticle, when you sight in your gun you just move the turrets. Now you say ballistic turrets so idk if if one of these scopes that claim to be "caliber specific. I honestly hate those. Say their calibered for a certain caliber and ceran grain bullet so all you need to do is zero at this distance and move your turret to to this or that and you'll hit ??? bullshit half the time. Good for banging steel but past that... ANYHOW Reg3 points

Prey drive ffs I was once on my way to a poetry reading ,I'd thought I'd better attend as I'd bin making abit of money off these people translating ancient manuscripts from b*****d Latin, anyhoo as I walked there accompanied by my deerhound dog garm he seen a cat and dragged me over the road the cat went under a parked car followed by the dog what had turned sideuds and shot under the car with such force that it cobbed me thru the open side window and landed on an unfortunate courting couple Summat like that3 points
