  8. Going off on a tangent here but have always liked the attached painting, that has uploaded pissed for some reason. Norman Cornish "Man at Bar With Dog on Lead". The breed is not specified but when talking to people about the picture or reading critiques they always assume that it is a whippet, I have always thought that it looks more like a whippet x greyhound or scratch dog rather than a whippet. From the generation before me but would see the scene in bars sometimes when I was younger, not seen it for many years now. These days it is all about being proud of who you are and celebrating

  9. Not really roughing it but there is a wedding reception on in the marina, hog roast, bar and music in the marquee everyone invited as it’s being held along with the annual Moore’s party which often ends in a drunken brawl between two pissed up windmilling specialists who should be old enough to know better, but quite fun to watch and not far to wobble back when I’m done ??

  11. My brother turned up today, he’d got rid of one of his gsxr track bikes and took a 1995 KLR650 in part ex, anyway his missus went mad because she told him to get rid of a couple of bikes, not swap one for another, so he said can I put it round here, it’s all legal so you can use it, well, from the minute I left the drive it was like I was back in my 20’s, proper hooligan bike, recently I’ve been thinking of getting another bike and as I’m getting on a bit now I was thinking about a Suzuki GSR750 after been out on this this afternoon I want my KTM660 supermoto back ??

  24. As a rule yes, but I think what wideboy is saying is the closer you get to Dublin etc prices become more comparable with urban areas of England. the same is true of most places, you can get a small holding in the north of Scotland for 150k or a studio flat in Edinburgh for the same money. Plenty of places in uk you can relocate and set up and be totally removed from the problems wilf has escaped without going to Ireland, the issue is if your of working age with a family there are no career opportunities to keep you there, which is exactly why it’s as cheap. And is exactl

  29. My Mum spent the last few months of her life in a care home and the staff were fantastic. I had a call one day from the manager who apologetically explained that one of the staff had lost her temper and sworn at my mum. I was asked if l wanted the matter taken further. My reaction was " ls that all. " Bearing in mind that poor mum had such bad dementia that you would've thought she was possessed by demons and was violent with it, l think the staff were near candidates for sainthood.

  34. Privatisation of care homes was commenced by Thatcher's government, but embraced and continued by Bliar. For me, if a council run care home costs £X to run then how can it be cheaper to run with someone taking a profit out of it? The only way is by lowering standards for the end users, i.e. us eventually. In reality, the privatisation has resulted in it costing more, not less with an unacceptable lowering of standards.

Would see him bloody miles away then he would magically appear right by me and to the side a bit. Grabbed a bass off me one day and stripped half me line off before I snapped it off. SMug git surfaced then holding my bass. Hope he choked on it

  36. Watched it myself katch last night on my bent stick thingy, I have to agree was a bit slow going. All I could think was watching the wolf course the Jack rabbit , that was an easy pick up lol. To be fair I thought the affects were pretty good so not a low budget film, and probably not a bad storyline either. Just could of been a lot lot better. Anyway this is Barry Norman signing out and finish my coffee and off to work.

  38. I love whippets. I love greyhounds. To me a cross between the two is the sweet spot for the field. But I am no lurcherman and fully understand that a serious lurcherman will often require a dog with a bit more depending on what is needed to be caught, how much is needed to be caught, how often and where. But a whippet x greyhound will catch most things and are a joy to watch when doing so.

  41. I am guilty of the opposite. Not the most sociable of people but at 1 time if you bumped into someone with a lurcher they would be a sporting chap or chapess and maybe worth talking to. I have met people and asked the cliche'd "how's it bred?" "done much?", then the owner looks at me as though I'm a nutter and reaching for the phone to call 999. That was before I realised that folk now keep lurchers as pets. Many times been asked what type of dogs mine are/were and when reply "Jack Russell" they also look at me like I'm a nutter. Look nothing like the pure bred, expensive, black and white
